Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. We arrived back last night after 36 hours travelling. We are pleased to be home and the furry things are pleased to have us home! My stamping space has been calling my name and I can't wait to get down there. My DH has offered to do the housecleaning so that I can go downstairs after I've unpacked and done the washing! I don't know why it is, but packing is always faster - and more fun - than unpacking!
I have a quick post for you today - and some pics of the big cats that we saw on our trip to the reserve in the Cape. All round the last 2.5 weeks have been a fantastic trip - we saw some amazing things, had some incredible food and wine - and more importantly caught up with some friends who are always near to my heart. I was really lucky to work with a great group of people 20 years ago and even though we see each other extremely rarely (7 years since the last visit...), it's such a comfortable connection when we regroup. So, a hugh shout out to Suzie, Karen, Raul, Steve...... you guys have no idea how much I miss working with you all - and to have you and your fabulous spouses closer to share great evenings with. Dan, Dave and Gaynor.. that applies to you - even though we didn't get to dinner with you!
I'm wondering what my furry things would do if they could read by blog. I'm not sure how they would feel about me posting pictures of furry things that aren't them :-) Here are two of the cats that we saw.
Here's the tawny female lion. We came across her on the second morning. There was a herd of Eland about 200 yards from where she was stalking. She was obviously hungry, but the Eland were aware of her presence, so she sat down and rested behind a little thorny bush instead. However, we were lucky enough to be just ahead of the bush and had a perfect view of her. You can see her right next to the green bush. But.... you can also see how well she blends into the semi-desert terrain.
Here's a pic of her stalking. It's just how Bilbo looks when he's stalking in our basement.... every night he goes on his own little safari looking for spiders and things :-)
Then, there was a picture we took of the big white male. He may look peaceful now and really cuddly... but we saw him again the next morning, he'd just come off a kill and he looked incredibly different. Gone was the cuddly cat face. It was then we realized how big he was and, covered in blood,.... he was - and looked - the ultimate predator. What an amazing animal he is.
I'll have a couple more pictures for you tomorrow and ... hopefully.... if my mojo gets going... a card!
I'd like to thank all of you who have been so patient with me during the last couple of weeks and who have continued to visit my blog. I really, really appreciate your support.
As always, thank you for visiting my blog - for spending tme with me, and to all of you who leave your messages - they warm my heart and encourage me to continue doing this.
A last thank you.... to my darling, handsome Pierluigi. Happy anniversary. I've had 14 wonderful years with you - I am so blessed and I love you dearly. Oh! and thank you for always being game enough to hold on to my purse/handbag when I insist on taking pictures... you are the love of my life.
Peace and blessings
Jaydee
