Hi Everyone.
Happy Saturday night.
Tonight's card features the set Peace Within.
I'd bypassed this when the catty first came out. However, when Lou bought me the watercolor crayons for Valentine's, I thought a stamp set that worked with watercolors was required! Any excuse to buy a stamp set, right!!! :-)
The sketch challenge on 411 this week called for few layers and lots of space to create a focal image. It's rare on a sketch challenge that we get that opportunity. So, I decided Peace Within was what was required tonight. I must admit.... watercoloring is like meditation! You have to concentrate on what you are doing, so it takes your mind of everything else.
Pop along to the stamping411 page and see the amazing variety of cards made by the design team and the posters. It's always amazing to me how people can take the same sketch and make it look so different. I promise you will find something inspirational.
I used Chocolate Chip as the card base and white card stock for the main image. I stamped the image in StazOn and then used a variety of colors to create the grass, sky, color the cat (had to be ginger, right!!! For you Trish.. I know he's not hairy.. but I thought of Magic and Bailey!). I used a variety of browns for the chair and tried to keep the colors in the earthy tones to tie them altogether.
The orchid was colored in Old Olive, Barely Banana and Crushed Curry.
To make the stripes on the cat a little more pronounced, I went over the shaded areas with Basic Grey crayon.
I colored the grassy areas and the sky around the image, but left a white space between the image and the ribbon and tiny tags. Watercoloring really isn't my forte, but I'm hoping to get better and yes, Mom, I know I wasn't always between the lines! :-)
I stamped the sentiment "peace within makes beauty without" in StazOn. The two Tiny Tags - 4 you and friends, were stamped in Chocolate chip on Naturals White. A piece of the Chocolate Chip satin ribbon from the new mini finished off the card.
It really is a gorgeous image - and does invoke peace..
have a peaceful, restful and fabulous Sunday. I hope you get to spend time doing things you love with those you love the most. As for me.... I will be meeting with my good friends Brenda, Bethany and Cherie tomorrow. We are celebrating Bethany's birthday and will be packaging up the cards for hugsandhope and fromourhearts.
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee - lovely peaceful card. The cat is gorgeous and looks so relaxed (as only a cat can do). I hope you had a great weekend and fun packaging your cards.

Beautiful! There is a sense of peace when you just lie back and listen to nature while sitting in an adirondack chair!!

Hi Jaydee, extremely nice card! I just love this set. The first thing I saw was the cat lying on the chair and it reminded me of Molly when we sit outside in the summer and she sleeps in the empty chair. Love your watercoloring, you do very good work with it. Great job on the cat, lol. I like the Choco-Chip Ribbon, it ties it all together very nicely. Who wouldn't want to receive this card? Just delightful. Stay safe and may you always be as Blessed as you are today.
