Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday Night!
I'm so sorry I didn't post last night. But I started work at 6.00am yesterday and finished at 10 p.m. So I wasn't able to log on and do my update.
I spent some good quality time stamping in my stamping space today... but that was ONLY after I had spent some time drooling over the new Mini. Yep... It's almost that time again. The demos got to see the preview this week and I'm so excited. There are so many things that I want from it. I promise, I will start showing you samples as soon as I can. Also... I pre-ordered a preview set from the new catty this week. Oh..... I'm so excited. It reminds me of Marimekko... well in my mind it does! Anyway, as soon as that arrives, I'll be playing with it and showing you some samples. Luckily it's my birthday coming up. When Lou asks me what I want for my birthday, I am going to just hand over the mini and say "have at it!" darling :-)
One last dragonfly card for you tonight... I promise it will be the last for a while. I used the vellum technique again. Here's the closeup for you
I used my matt pack and my stylus. I traced around the dragonfly with my stylus on my soft matt and then started to emboss the body and wings of the dragonfly using small circles from both the back and the front of the dragonfly. This stretches the vellum and makes it become whiter. On the last card I did this on.... at this post.... Trish asked why she could see horizontal stripes on the wings instead of circles.... good question, Trish! It's because I used horizontal strokes with my coloring crayons and markers. I wanted to give the effect of veining in the dragonfly wings.
I used the same mixture of colors for the dragonfly on this card as I did on this post. However, coloring the back of the vellum, gives a much softer feel than you get when you color the paper directly. I also wanted to make this a very clean and simple card, with lots of white. The sentiment comes from the Measure of a Life set and is one of the famous lines from Eleanor Roosevelt. "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Isn't that fabulous?
So, here's the finished card
I backed the Whisper White front onto Taken with Teal and wrapped white satin ribbon around it.... Oy vey... that bow... what did I do that I didn't fix i!!!! grrrrrrr... now I have to go fix it, but I don't have to to re-photograph it before Lou and I go out to dinner.
Yep, he's back in town after a week in Argentina. Some of you may remember that last time he tried to get down there about 2 weeks ago... where he left on Sunday. Came back on Sunday. Left on Monday. Came back on Tuesday morning. never getting any further than Atlanta. Well, this time he got there, no mechanical failures, no flat battery on the plane, no missed connections... in fact he even got upgraded on the flight from Atlanta to Buenos Aires! So.. we are going out to dinner tonight.
I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday. One filled with joy, laughter and time spent doing the things you love doing...me.... well a little housework in the morning and then PLAYTIME!!!!
As always, I thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere - where your visits - and comments are always much appreciated. Oh.... and I'm also putting together my Bilbo Baggins Birthday Bonanza Blog Bag for one lucky winner. Details in tomorrow's post.
Hugs
Jaydee
oh.... send me an email if you would like me to send you the new mini when it begins shipping... I promise you will find all sorts of great things to put on your wish list :-)

Wow--what a lovely color combo. I had not used the teal paper until my SU party and now I see this card with it too. So pretty!
I would be happy if my bows looked that good!
Glad you had some time for stampin therapy!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Oh I am so glad the Lou finally made his destination, but even more glad that he made it home! I do hope that dinner was good, of course it was, you were together with your sweetie. The dragonfly is again awesome. I have not yet tried that technique, but I am dying to just as soon as I can. Did you use the heavy-weight vellum or the regular weight. I would think with all of that embossing that you would almost have to use the heavier weight. Those two colors that you chose just look striking together. So clean and crisp. I can't believe you worked that many hours. I thought that I was the only crazy person that did that,(when I was working). Watch out, because you will wear yourself down and not even know, it creeps up on you and them Bam! you are sick. So watch yourself and don't play Martyr very often and take care of yourself. I am glad that you will get to "Play" today. I am hoping that I will get into my crafting space too. Take care.

Hi Jaydee....so glad to hear hubby had no problems with his flight this time. I have seen some signs of Spring here, so maybe no more snow for hubby to drive to the airport or back for awhile. We can only wish for that right?
You made the Dragonfly look like he is ready to fly. Love these colors also. You have (again) done a wonderful job. It is hard to believe you work that many hours and your still can create another beautiful card. What was that a double shift that you worked? Please take care of yourself and don't get so worn down you get sick.( I know I sound just like Mom) Not only would that be bad for you but us bloggers would be in withdrawl.
Hugs
