Hi Everyone
very quick post for you tonight. I did get to spend a little time in my stamping space today - I REALLY needed to. I needed something to help me just switch off and coloring always does that for me. I made two cards and they are both meant to pay homage to our retiring colors. I'm going to dedicate some cards over the next week to do exactly that. Now... that certainly takes me out of my comfort zone. One of the challenge cards I did made us use 4... yes... count them. 1...2...3...4.... BOLD BRIGHTS all on the one card! Yikes!!!
Anyway, tonight's card uses the new Elements of Style set (120045) from the new Summer Mini. I bought this set because it was going to force me way outside of my comfort zone.
I used it on the clean and simple fall to layout sketch challenge number 85 - again a shape that took me out of my comfort zone....
I decided to create this card for my surrogate mother who is going to be 90 this year. the sentiment spoke volumes for me and she loves flowers. So how perfect was this!
When you reach the age of 90 - you sure have seen a life full of moments. She's an amazing lady!
Card recipe:
Card stock: Very Very Vanilla
Stamps: Elements of Style
Wheel: Very Vintage
Embellishments: Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon
Inks: Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Mellow Moss markers. Pretty in Pink classic ink (for the wheel)
Tools: Eyelet Border Punch, Wheel Guides, Stamp-a-majig
Card size: Very Vanilla card stock cut at 7 x 6 1/6" to make a 7 x 3 1/4"H card. I had to make it just a little longer in order to accommodate so much of the flower on the right hand corner. You could make it smaller by reducing the amount of flower on the page.
I hope you all enjoyed have a quick look at the new colors and how they compare in last night's post. I can't believe I forgot to add the picture comparing the browns. Thanks to Soozie for letting me know - I fixed that issue and the brown comparisons were loaded this afternoon. I haven't played with the colors yet. I want to get the feel of them a little more... also... there is only one single sheet of each color, so I'm waiting for exactly the right card to come to mind.
I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday - it's almost Friday. Please continue to send prayers to Trish.
Big hugs to you all
Jaydee

What a beautiful card Jaydee. I love the look of watercolor image and you did good with this design. Very soft looking on left side and bringing the blooming flower on right side to give its focus. And the sentiment sums up to bring it to completeness. This Elements of Style is growing on me, though I am not sure I can produce similar result like you have here. I am inspired as always from your artwork.
It's good to get some free time today. Work has been busy and crazy. Hope Trish is doing well. Enjoy your weekend.

Beautiful card. Glad you pushed through since I love this stamp set. What size is this card?
Thanks for the color comparison. I love the Cherry Cobbler! I think red is my "new" color.

Good morning! Thanks for adding the browns. That Espresso is an awesome color as well. Again, such depth and intensity to the new colors. :o)
I love the card! That is a very intricate stamp (I typically shy away from ones that fancy), yet you made such a simple and elegant card with it. Beautifully done! :o)

This is a WOW card for sure! The beautiful coloring and the side with the ribbon and eyelet edging and bow--wow! It is perfect! I am sure that the lady who receives this will be so happy!
Prayers continue for Trish. I hope today is a great day for you--even just seeing one tiny improvement today over yesterday. Hang in there.

If this Stamp Set forces you way out of your comfort zone, it is just IN mine! I fell in love with it the minute I saw it! Roses, I adore roses, I have numerous rose bushes in my garden and love to look at them blooming. I love to tend to them and yes, I have even been known to talk to them. hee, hee.
Your card is Beeeeeautiful! What a grand card for a grand lady. I am sure that she is going to love it. What size is this card? I really like how you used the wheel and then the ribbon on top of it. The roses are colored just perfectly, I can almost smell them. The sentiment oh so appropriate. All in all a wonderful card. I don't think you could have done any better for her Birthday.
The past 10 days have not been kind to me, still I push ahead and keep on smiling, hoping things will improve each day I awaken. Yesterday proved to be another let down, but like the saying goes "this too shall pass". Thank you for the Prayers. I do appreciate them very much. Thank you Jaydee, for your continued support and genuine kindness.
Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
