Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
I have a couple more cards to share with you tonight using the Color Layering Bengal Tigers, one of the additional items from the Hero Arts June 2017 Monthly card kit.
I bought this set because I am making cards for the charity Cards for Hospitalized Kids and I thought the images and sentiments would be ideal for cards. I also used the fabulous bronze paper that was included in the card kit and paired it with the Tribal Shapes Stencil, also an additional item to the kit.
Instead of using the stencil as a stencil, I used it as a die. I was watching a video by the very talented Therese Calvird where she used a stencil as a die and I remembered that I had seen Jennifer McGuire (I think it was Jennifer) do it a while ago. The minute I saw Therese's video - you can see it here - I thought about this stencil and what a great background it would create. If you haven't seen any of Therese's videos, I really suggest you check them out. She's really talented and her videos are great to watch. Her voice also has a very soothing and relaxing tone :-)
Here are my cards:
For the next one - I changed up the sentiment - but everything else stayed the same. Isn't that stencil background fabulous? I LOVE it.
I wish the photographs really showed you how fabulous this paper is, but I just couldn't get a good photo to show you the real richness and depth of the color.
On a personal note:
Thank you to those of you who left messages or sent me emails about our storm this past weekend. We had an assessor out today and it seems that we were not as lucky as we first thought. Apparently we need to replace the whole roof, the downpipes and gutters, the vents in the roof (that are cracked or have holes and may or may not have let water into the roof!) and may need the garage doors replaced. So...... not as lucky as we thought - but still much luckier than a lot of people in the neighborhood. At least our siding is not damaged and we have not had to replaced any windows and we are all safe.
Today, the weather was glorious just to make up for the weekend and it really is wonderful to see so much green. I have been sitting out under the deck in the screened-in porch watching the birds go backwards and forwards. The cats love it out there. They are protected, in the shade and can watch the wildlife from the comfort of the garden chairs.
I have a couple of wildlife shots to share with you. The first one is one of my favorites. An adult and near adult Oriole. I love these guys and feel so blessed that we have managed to keep them throughout the summer. In our old house they would visit for a few days and then move on. Here, we seem to have the right mix of trees to provide them shelter and we think that has made the difference.
Aren't they beautiful? Just looking at this photo makes me smile.
I love this shot of the Cardinal. Here he is with a seed mix and he was looking for a very specific type of seed. He pigrooted around until he found the right one and then flew off.
I'll be back tomorrow with some more cards and more photographs. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
