Abundant Hope - Thanks!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday Night and welcome to Jaydee's SU stampin' space.  Tonight's card shows you yet another way to use Abundant Hope.  And tonight's card is dedicated to Sally.  You can see my other Abundant Hope cards here

Before we get started on tonight's cards... I'd like to give a shout out to Lynn.  Her cards arrived for Hugs and Hope today and they are gorgeous.  Look out for some of Lynn's fabulous creations on my blog tomorrow.  I promise you will be inspired.  A shout out to Cam, too... who let me know her cards on the way.  Thank you ladies!

And whilst we are on the topic of doing something for others... here's more detail on the drive that Stampin' Up! is having to help those in Haiti.  So... think about buying a heart (stamp set) - to help others!

My new goodies arrived for my stampfest tomorrow.  A couple of friends are coming around to add to our card drive, so I'm looking forward to having some girl time and some play time - all together.... now that's a good Saturday.  Which is a good thing, because I didn't have a particularly good Friday and can honestly say that I am, uncharacteristically VERY GRUMPY!  So, I think I am several of the Seven Dwarfs all in one tonight!  :-)  However, spending time with a little bit of rubber and ink should cure me of my grumpiness.  If that fails... then a glass of wine... if that fails... I'll watch a George Clooney movie! :-)  Actually....mmmm... maybe a George Clooney movie and a glass of wine - now that should definitely do the trick! :-)

So, back to the card for tonight....I really love this Daffodil image and I wanted to see how I could use it in a way that visually changed the proportion of the stamp - and I found that using it on a square base, with a square matt, did that for me.  Of course, I had to use my scallop border and corner punch.  Don't forget.. talk to your friendly SU demonstrator to see how you can earn your own free scallop trim border punch... and I also used my Tiny Tags sentiments!  You know I wasn't crazy about getting the Tiny Tags...until I got them!

Card recipe:

• Always Artichoke and Crushed Curry Card stock.  The central image is stamped on Whisper White.
• I stamped the sentiments "4 you" and "thanks so much" in Always Artichoke and punched them out with the jewelry punch.
• I inked the stamp with Always Artichoke and Crushed Curry markers and stamped the image onto the Whisper White
• I used my scallop border and corner punches on a piece of Crushed Curry card stock.  Jaydee tip: I used the 3 13/16" size as per LyndaLee28's great post on splitcoast.  You can check the link and LyndaLee has put the sizes that she worked out to get the best use of the corner punch with scallop.  The key is to start in one corner (with the right size paper) and then work down one side, do the next corner, etc.  until you have worked all the way around the square.  The key is.... you have to have the right size square in order to get the corners and sides to match.  It takes a little effort - but I think the results are really worth it.
• I matted the Whisper White onto a piece of Always Artichoke and then put that onto the Crushed Curry.  I stuck the Always Artichoke matt onto the crushed curry with snail and attached the Whisper White focal image using dimensionals.
• I wrapped a piece of crushed curry around the card and stuck the two ends in the middle of the front of the card. 
• I put the image and the matts onto the card base, over the ribbon, using dimensionals.
• I made a bow with a piece of crushed curry ribbon and stuck 4 mini glue dots behind the knot ... yeah.. I know...4 is more than you need... but I wanted to make sure it was REALLY stuck!  before I adhered the bow to the image, I stuck the sentiment labels underneath the bow and secured them to the mini glue dots.  I then pressed the bow onto the image.

I hope you like it. I think I'm done with Abundant Hope for a couple of nights :-)  I have some new goodies to go play with:-)

Abundant Hope - One Layer Easter Blessings

Hi Everyone

Happy Thursday evening and welcome to Jaydee's SU stamping space.  Tonight's card uses Abundant Hope.

I know, I can't help myself - I'm in love with this set.  However, as part of my new year's resolutions (aren't you tired of this by now.... ???!!!) I'm pushing myself... and this time.... was to create a one layer card.  Always difficult for me.. you know I'm the queen of layering!

Before we get started - there are two things I'd like to do.  Number 1.......

Stampin' Up! announced today support for the people of Haiti.  SU has a record of providing support to those in need, and this is a cause that I think we can all relate to.  For every set of I {heart} Heart stamps sold - $2.00 will be donated to Haiti relief efforts.  Please, would you consider purchasing this set from your SU demo. I'm guessing that many of you will want this stamp anyway, and knowing that portions of the proceeds will be going to this humanitarian effort, gives us all even more reason to purchase this set.  In fact, I purchased my own set today.  Just in case you were wondering.... which set is this?  let me show you

On a personal note... I'd like to send a shout out to Robin.... and she knows why! :-)  I'd also like to give a shout out to Kelli and Tonya - they worked together to send me their cards for the charity card drive.  You guys all ROCK!

Here's the one layer Easter Blessings card made with the Abundant Hope set.

Card recipe:

• Whisper White card stock
• Always Artichoke and Crushed Curry ink
• Grosgrain ribbon
• I used an oval frame to provide an area where I could use my chalks to create the background in an oval frame.  I used a mixture of blues from my SU chalk palette to create the background.
• I then inked up the daffodil from the Abundant Hopes set with my Always Artichoke and Crushed Curry ink markers and stamped that into the oval.  I'm using the clear mount stamps, which makes it really easy to do placement :-)
• I then stamped the sentiment - and the border stamp under the sentiment - in Always Artichoke and stamped it - just into the frame
• I took a piece of grosgrain ribbon and tied a knot and a bow in the opposite corner to the sentiment.

A really easy card to create and a perfect one layer card.  I hope you like it and are inspired.

Ever After - Easter Blessings ?

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday night.

Tonight's card uses the unexpected - Ever After (113401) - as an Easter card!  You know I love trying to use stamps in ways other than what they were intended for.  I did a little changing up of the Lilies of the Valley, though!

Before I get started tonight, I'd like to send a BIG - and I mean REALLY BIG shout out to Beth.  The cards that she made for the troops and the children arrived today.  They are gorgeous.  Absolutely perfect for both causes. The children's cards are bright and cheerful, with fabulously bright colors and cheerful sentiments.  The cards for the troops cover birthdays, love, sympathy, etc.  Beth... thank you... you brought tears to my eyes - and they are absolutely perfect.  With your permission, I would like to highlight a couple of them on my blog tomorrow.  You really rock - and the love that you put into those cards, was so evident!

For tonight's card, I wanted to do a quick and easy, clean and simple Easter card.  I love the Lilies of the Valley stamp from the Ever After set and wanted to use it... but decided to change it up and make them look like Blue Bells instead - some of my favorite flowers!  I used the Ever After set with my new Abundant Hope  set.  I used the clear mount set 118547.

Card Recipe:

• Whisper White, Certainly Celery and Lovely Lilac card stock
• Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335)
• Ribbon - from the retired Holiday Mini - mistletoe
• Modern Label Punch (116630)
• Certainly Celery classic ink pad
• Lovely Lilac marker
• Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402) - one of the SAB freebies!

This was really simple - I stamped the lilies in certainly celery and then colored the flowers with my marker.  I ran the embossing folder and the Whisper White card stock through my Big Shot.  Then I punched out the scallop Trim Border with my punch.  Jaydee tip:  START IN THE MIDDLE... don't do what I did... otherwise you end up with uneven edges at the corner... just like I did.  GRRRR

I wrapped the ribbon around the Whisper White card stock, cut matts for the central image.  Mounted my central image onto the matts using snail, and then used dimensionals to place the matt onto th polka dot background.  I had adhered the polka dot background with snail.

I stamped the "Easter Blessings" sentiment, from the Abundant Hope set in Lovely Lilac and then adhered that with dimensionals.  Quick.  Very quick.  10 minutes - and you are done.  I also love the Lovely Lilac and Certainly Celery color combination.  Mixed with the Whisper White, it provides a crisp, really clean image.

Well, we are off to movies.  Tonight we are off to see Invictus.  I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday and get to spend time doing the things you love, with those you love the most.

Abundant Hope - Happy Easter

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday night and welcome to Jaydee's SU stampin' space.  

A quick post for you tonight and tomorrow I will be providing you more details on the Blog Candy #2 contents.  Some of you have already let me know that you will be participating in the card collection in order to be entered to win your very own Big Shot.  I'm very grateful to those of you who have already let me know, and hope that some of my other readers will join us.  As a reminder, we are looking to collect cards for children at Hopesandhugs.org and for troops to send home at fromourhearts.  All I need is at least 10 cards for either organization and you will be entered into the draw.

Today I got the chance to play around with my new goodies.  I'm so impressed with my new purchases that I was really inspired.  I saw the Abundant Hope set in the new mini and was blown away by it.  It's even nicer in real life!  I also got the clear mount option for this set and am loving the new acrylic blocks.  I love the fact that I get the same quality stamped image that I always get with my SU stamps and get to save on storage and cash.  If you already have acrylic blocks, you should find that they work for the new clear mount stamp option.  Otherwise, SU sells individual blocks, or a block of blocks :-)

I'm really looking forward to spring - and was, therefore, drawn to create a spring card.  It's been so cold for so long here, that, when it got to 7 degrees yesterday, I was running around thinking it was time for people to be wearing shorts! :-)  Now you know I've been living in Minnesota too long!

For the card tonight, I used the sketch challenge from the team at stamping411.  The sketch leaves you so much room for interpretation that I think it's great for just about any sort of card!

 

I took a shot of the card from a slightly lower angle than I normally would, because I wanted you to be able to see where I had pieced the flowers over the original.  Sometimes it's really hard to see that, but I found that when I went a little lower with my camera, I could show you that, and also that I had lifted the wings of the butterflies.

I love this stamp - have I told you that already :-)  I used multiple new items on this card for you.  So let me tell you how I built it.

Card recipe 

• Certainly Celery, So Saffron and Whisper White card stock
• DSP from the new Shades of Spring pack in the new mini (117160)
• Butterflies are from the new Beautiful Wings embosslits die (118138)
• Ribbon is the Whisper White taffeta ribbon (109070) (don't you love the bow on this card :-)?)
• The sentiment "Happy Easter" is from the Well Scripted set (118601 - clear mount and 117072 - wood mount)
• I used my wide oval punch to punch out the sentiment
• I used my So Saffron and Always Artichoke markers... I wanted the Green to be a slightly darker shade than the Certainly Celery on the card.  Jaydee tip:  I used my markers for the flowers, as I wanted the Yellow and Green on the set.  However, I wanted slightly more definition in the central parts of the flowers and I found that marking up my stamp with my marker allowed me to place a little more emphasis of ink where I needed it.  In contrast, if I had decided to stamp twice - once with just the green (and used the masking technique) and then again with the So Saffron ink..... I didn't get the same amount of emphasis and shading on the flower.  
• All that was left was to run my embosslit through my Big Shot, using the same paper I had used for the background.  Also, following the rule of uneven numbers.... the embosslit actually gives you 4 butterflies of the size I wanted (the bigger one was too big for this card)... so I did a 5th one by running my embosslit through again - and keeping the other butterflies in an old embossing powder bottle.... now I feel like a lepidotporist!
• All that was left was to assemble the card and stamp the inside.  Trish... I'm sorry, I didn't photograph the inside for you tonight... but I have some cards coming up where I have :-)
