Happy Saturday. My apologies for not posting last night. I was getting ready to type up my blog post when I realized that Sam Ganges (Bilbo Baggins') brother was obviously not well. So we ended up taking him to the emergency vet. Why cats can't get sick during normal veterinary hours I don't know! So, $300 and 3 hours later we finally got back home and then we realized we hadn't had supper. We dropped Sam off at home, gave him his meds and then rushed out to get a very, very late bite to eat. Luckily, he does appear to be feeling much better today. He was an angel at the vet even though he REALLY didn't want anyone messing around with his nether regions. He is the absolute sweetest cat.
Anyway, Saturday is the night that I generally reveal my card for the Paper Players and the fabulous LeAnne has a color challenge for us this week.
Now, these are not colors I generally put together, so it really was a challenge for me. However, y'all know that's the reason I like to do challenges, to push me out of my comfort zone. In keeping with my resolution to use stamp sets that I don't ink up often enough, I decided to go for a summery scene using Awash with Flowers. It's been a very long time since I used that set. It's really very pretty and I thought was perfect for this color scheme.
Here's what I came up with.
Once I had stamped the focal image I decided to add a little Vanilla Spritz over it. It looks lovely when you actually see it, but it is really hard to photograph.
The sentiment is fro a set that I was given and seems perfect for the focal image. I also happen to think its a true statement :-)
All supplies Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
Card stock: Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz
Tools: Heat Gun, Black embossing powder. I embossed the sentiment to make it stand out a little more. Vanilla Smooch Spritz.
Don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and check out the fabulous cards from the design team - oh.... and play along with us, too. We really would love to see what you come up with for LeAnne's challenge this week.
On a personal note
Winter has arrived. Yes, it even got down to -4 with wind chill. I know many of you think I am crazy, but I love the cold weather and the fact that we have very distinct seasons. I have lived in so many countries and cities where the seasons just blend into each other, that I love the changing and very distinct seasons.
Well, I am off to go and make a couple more cards whilst I am in the mood for it :-)
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
A change of pace for you today.... yep.... no new sets! No... seriously! I am going back to one of my favorite "old" sets.
This card is actually a CASE of a card that was in the Stampin' Up! demonstrator only magazine last month. I loved the look and feel of the card and decided that CASEing it - and a couple of others - would - hopefully - awaken my creative streak. The only thing that I changed about the card was the sentiment. I didn't have the sentiment set that they showcased on the original card, so substituted it. I love the color combo, the fact that I could get out my blending pen and classic inks, some Iridescent Ice embossing powder - and that it used a set that I fell in love with a year ago when it first made its appearance.
Card recipe - all ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
Tools: Paper Piercer, Mini glue dots; Stampin' Dimensionals, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot
So, what do you think? I think it's really pretty. I have never put these colors together, but I think they work really well together. I don't know about you, but I love the idea of adding two of the floral images together to make a "whole" flower. The yellow buttons work so well for the middle of the flower, too.
On a personal note:
A very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my best friend, Pammie. I hope you had a wonderful day, my friend. Even though I couldn't be with you in person, I was certainly there in spirit!
Work has been really, really busy. There never seem to be enough hours in the day. I'm also at the point where I think I am ready for a long weekend!!!! Many of my friends and family have a long weekend this weekend. At least four, and in some cases, five days off! In fact, the UK has a short week next week. They have a four day weekend this weekend and then next Friday is THE wedding! Needless to say, I shall be setting my alarm early next Friday and will take the time to get up, make some tea, take out my Union Jack, and wave as the wedding unfolds on television. Anyone else nutty enough to get up early to watch?
Prayers tonight for those of you who need a warm hug, or a little lift. I hope you all have a fabulous Easter weekend. For my Jewish readers - Happy Passover. I hope we are all blessed with warmth, love and peace.
I don't normally post on Sunday, but as I have a very long day tomorrow, I thought I would post tonight and take tomorrow off instead. Also, it gave me an opportunity to participate in the moxiefabworld Paper Piecing challenge.
It's been a while since I did any paper piecing, so it was a great excuse to bring out my snips and some DSP.
I love the Awash with Flower stamp set and it was perfect for this challenge. I was able to stamp the outline on the Very Vanilla card stock and then restamp onto 3 different pieces of the Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper.
Continuing my new year resolution of using colors I don't often use.... tonight I decided to feature Pink Pirouette and Concord Crush.
Here's what I came up with
Card recipe - all supplies Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
Card stock: Concord Crush, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette
Accessories: Concord Crush ribbon (119266), Pearls (non SU), ribbon tag die (non SU)
On a personal note: 1 more card made today... yep, that makes 2 whole cards this weekend! Mmmm... going to have to do better than that! However, it's always good to get dirty with ink and glue!
Prayers tonight for Missy. Missy I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how devastated you feel. My thoughts and prayers are with you. (Please would you email me your address to jaydeestamping@charter.net.). Prayers also for those of you who need a little lift or a warm hug.
Have a fabulous Monday everyone, I'll be back on Tuesday with my next post.
Hi Everyone, happy Sunday night. I hope you are all having a great weekend. For Cherie, it was a great weekend... youngest turning 18... and the PACKERS WON!!!!
I don't generally post on Sunday, but I got so many challenge cards done this weekend, that I thought I should post one of the cards that I made.
It's one of those that, you know, starts simple, then you add a little something, then you add a little something else and then, before you know it, you don't know when to stop!
I still don't know which I like best. So, how about you decide for me?
I used the color sketch from stampinwithstacey - stacey always has the most amazing color combos, and my mouth virtually watered to try these colors! Again, way outside of my comfort zone - but they screamed spring. The colors: Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo.
Then, I decided to combine it with the fabulously versatile sketch across at Stamping411. I loved the vertical focal point and matching sentiment.
In keeping with trying to use stamps I don't give enough love to, I decided it was time to use Awash with Flowers again. It is such a happy set, that I felt it went beautifully with the color scheme - and matched the vertical focal point of the sketch. I realized that the new set - So Happy for You - one of the sets that you can get free during Sale a Bration.
This is how it started out:
Then, I decided maybe it needed something. I added one little pearl before the "birthday wishes". But, that didn't seem quite enough.... so...
Then, I don't know, it kind of needed just a little something more!
I know that I could have used the matching stamps to color in the flowers - but I decided that I really wanted to use my ink and blender pen technique to color them instead. I love the soft look that it gives. It also allowed me to mix the two pinks to get various shades. One of the problems with this technique, is that the inks can flow a little outside the stamped image. Normally that drives me crazy, but with this set, it just seems to be OK.
Anyway, let me know when you think I should have stopped. I am still not sure when :-)
Want to see how I use my blender pens and inks to color? Check out this video:
Card recipe - all ingredients Stampin' Up!
Card stock: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Stamp sets: Awash with Flowers, sentiment: So Happy for You - SAB (121953 wood, 123220 clear)
Inks: Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, Black Stazon. Basfhful Blue - to outline the images
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon
I wanted to share a couple of pics with you tonight. As part of my new stampin space - YAY to my new stamping space! I bought a two drawer organizer from Pottery Barn. It goes perfectly in the corner of my new crafting desk and gives me space to stand up my cards as I make them. I can also photograph them from there. Well, little ratfink aka toothless aka Charlie has decided that it makes a REALLY great place to spend a little relaxing time under the warmth of the lamp. Oh yeah, and on top of that - he hates and I mean REALLY HATES paper. Wherever he finds paper he rearranges it and throws it on the floor.
So... this evening - this is what he did with my cards
You can see that I was busy crafting and had stood up a couple of cards. Well, he got onto the paper organizer, threw the cards off onto my crafting desk and on to the floor and then
Yep... he has got that... hey... don't mess with me... it's my space. I hate paper. AND I'm comfortable so go away and leave me alone - or else! look on his face! Oh, and he's nice and warm under the Daylight lamp!
Prayers tonight for Rose, Adelle, Jan A, Germaine and those affected by the floods and fires in Oz.
Have a wonderful Monday and don't forget to visit the stamping411 and stampinwithstacey sites to check out the design team and submission cards.
As always, thanks for spending time in my area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits are always appreciated.
Tonight's card uses the Awash with Flowers set and celebrates a couple of retiring colors - Pale Plum and Barely Banana. Two colors I very rarely use, so it was good to get them out and give them a little love. Just a reminder, if you are looking to order retiring colors in card stock, inks, etc. I really suggest you do them earlier rather than later. :-)
There is a special from SU this month, to celebrate National Scrapbooking Month. You can find details on the free goodies you can get on my sidebar - or directly on this link.
I was going to do the tutorial on using the SmoochSpritz, but it has been another long day and I don't think I could put a tutorial together that was even slightly coherent for you. I promise though, that I will do it before the week is out.
Tonight's card is for two challenges - color throwdown number 90. The colors: Pale Plum, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and Barely Banana. Wow... that was quite a color combination for me. The sketch is from lordhavemercy mtsc71 challenge. I changed the sketch just ever so slightly. I didn't put an element on the top right hand corner.
I pulled out some of my all time favorite DSP - from lovely flowers. It works so well, because it is Rich Razzleberry and has a hint of Pale Plum.
I had fun playing with the colors:-)
Card recipe:
Card Stock: Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum, Whisper White
Inks: Barely Banana, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Pale Plum
DSP: Lovely Flower (hostess set)
Embellishments: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon
Sizes:
Card base: A2 - DSP 4 1/4"W x 5 1/2"H
DSP: 4 1/4"W x 5 1/2" H
Layer 1- Pale Plum: 3 5/8W x 5" H
Layer 2 - Rich Razzleberry: 3 1/2"W x 4 7/8"H
Layer 3 - Whisper White: 3 1/4"W x x 4 5/8"H
I stamped the flowers randomly, but tried to make sure that distributed color around fairly evenly. I stamped only one of the larger flowers. I thought adding more of the smaller flowers helped to take the focus off the larger flower.
I was REALLY tempted to put glitter on it... however, as this is one of the cards that will be shipped off to the troops, I refrained from doing that. However, if you want to create this card for someone special, adding Dazzling Diamonds would really make the card pop.
I like the fact that you can see the pale outlines of the flowers on the background DSP, but that it is very subtle.
I tied the Rich Razzleberry ribbon around the Whisper White layer and mounted that layer on to the matts with my stampin dimensionals.
Here's a sneak peek at tomorrow's card
Once again... it's not a pink card... it's a blue card.... two blue cards in one week. That has to be a record. It's for another color challenge. I'm really enjoying the color challenges as they really force me out of my comfort zone. Most times, I've really enjoyed playing with the colors. So, I encourage you to pop along to the sites and play along... or at least try the colors at home.
Don't forget - the new Summer mini is now live... you can download it from my sidebar - or pop along to the SU website and go check out all the wonderful new goodies. I LOVE the new hostess sets in this mini.
On June 1, as demos, we get to see a sneak peek of a very small selection of new goodies in the catalog in July. I cannot wait. I'm really looking forward to stocking up on the new colors. Which reminds me... I got to play around with one of the new colors this weekend. One that I wasn't that crazy about when I first saw it... .BUT.. I know love it. I used it with Old Olive - and am loving it... but that's for a card later this week.
If you haven't thought about becoming a demo, now is a really good time to think about it. Whether you want to be a business demo, or someone who just enjoys the discounts, everyone is important to SU. If you haven't talked to your demonstrator about this great opportunity, why not do so now? If you don't have a demonstrator and want more information, I'd be happy to send you details.
On a personal note... I thought I would introduce you to our old man cat. Merlin. We discovered Merlin as a tiny little 6 week old kitten outside a major office block in Singapore. There's a long and very funny story attached to us picking up Merlin - but that would need a cup of coffee or a glass of wine to tell :-) We moved Merlin from Singapore to California and then he came with us on our cross-country journey by car all the way to Minnesota. He has seen more of America than lots of people have. Although, he was very bored by the Grand Canyon, wasn't in the least bit impressed by Ol' Faithful and got way too much of an eyeful of a Bison in Yellowstone. The Bison came up to the car and looked in the back window. Merlin tried to disappear into the tiniest little ball that he could and pretend that he was a piece of stitching on the back seat! He went for a walk in the Badlands and chased a mouse in Utah.
He finally arrived in Minnesota and has never forgiven us since. Merlin is a warm blooded cat and likes REALLY warm weather and now that he's 16 and arthritic, he hates the cold even more. Anyway, here's our old man cat
You can see that the cushion on my stamping desk is a very popular place! The old man is in really good shape, except for his arthritis. He's the grumpiest old man, though.... but immensely loyal. Of all the cats, he misses us the most when we are away.
As Missy said on her comment, please give prayers to those in need right now. There are so many people around the world, and here in the US who have been displaced or are threatened by the weather or oil spills! Missy my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you, your family and friends are safe.
My continued thoughts and prayers to Trish and Germaine.
As always, thank you so much for spending a part of your day in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits are always appreciated - as is your support.
Happy Wednesday. Oh yes... Friday is on the way!!! I'll be so glad when this week is over and I can get back to stamping and doing something creative. I really get withdrawal symptoms. For tonight's card I'm using Awash with Flowers - one of the new sets from the 2010/2011 catty. This is the stamp set that you can earn free as part of the two step into spring promotion. I love this set and you can see my other example cards here.
The curtain call challenge (a new challenge site I found) has a color challenge - crushed curry, going gray, basic grey and whisper white. This was a great color challenge.... mmm... gray again!!!! I loved it with the pop of crushed curry. It worked so well for my homage to retiring colors theme. In addition, the talented team across at palspaperarts are running a KISS challenge this week and this works for that, too. So, pop along to the curtain call challenge site and palspaperarts
sites, as always, I know you will find something to CASE and I always encourage you to participate.
You will notice that this is a very similar layout to last night's card. It's clean and really allows the focal point to take central stage. I loved the color scheme and am starting to get a little worried that I am addicted to crushed curry and to gray :-)
I thought showcasing a flower card was a great way to celebrate Earth Day! So here it is!
Here's how I made the card:
Card size: A2 - Basic Grey
Layer 1: Crushed Curry 3 1/4"W x 4 1/4"H
Layer 2: Going Grey: 3"W x 4"H
Layer 3: Whisper White 2 3/4"W x 3 3/4"H
I stamped the negative stamp images and then stamped the positive image on a separate piece of paper using Crushed Curry ink. Once the ink was dry, I spritzed the flowers using the Gold Glow SmoochSpritz to give it a little subtle bling!
I then cut out the petals and adhered them to the negative image using dimensionals. I added a small half pearl. I love putting pearls in this position of this flower.
I stamped the "Happy Birthday" from the Messages for Mom set in Basic Grey
I wrapped Basic Grey satin ribbon around the Whisper White layer and adhered it to the Going Grey layer using dimensionals. The Going Grey layer was adhered to the Crushed Curry layer, also using dimensionals. The reason I love dimensionals, as opposed to pop up glue dots for this, is the fact that the dimensionals are not as high as the pop up glue dots. This allows me to do multiple popped up layers without adding too much height to the card. However, the popped images, bow and pearl, will definitely mean extra postage on this card.
If you make any cards using the retiring colors, we would love to see them, so please send us a link in a comment so we can all come and visit your blogs. Heck, link any card you would like us to see - retiring colors or not:-)
I'd like to give a big shout out to Terri tonight. I received the most gorgeous card in the mail from here. It was such a pleasure to open up an envelope and find a hand crafted card inside. I know we all love that! I can't wait to show you Terri's card. I will also be showing you the card that Beverly sent me for my birthday. So two great RAKs to show you this weekend. Terri, I loved the card! Thank you.
Earth Day blog candy!
To celebrate Earth Day, I have a special treat for my loyal commenters this week. I am putting together a little package of SU goodies to give away to one very lucky person. What's up for grabs??????? An SU stamp set, a Trendy Trees totally recyclable and totally cool SU drinking bottle; an SU compact mirror, SU nail file, an SU pen and a roll of SU ribbon! I'll put a photograph up on my blog tomorrow so that you can see what fabulous goodies you will receive. Almost all of the contents of the grab bag cannot be bought, unless you can get something via a famous on-line auction site!
All comments received starting on Monday April 19 will be entered into the draw. There's an entry for each comment left. I know I don't need to bribe you with prizes, but it's a way that I can thank you all for your loyal support and to share a little love. :-)
The draw will take place on April 30th and, as always, Bilbo Baggins, my very willing 4-legged, purry, furry assistant, will be doing the drawing! So...look out for a pic of the blog loot tomorrow night.
In honor of Earth Day, my blog will also be going Green. I will be signing up for Green Certification, which allows me to neutralize my site's carbon footprint with renewable energy and will also provide me with statistics to help me optimize my website to use less energy. So, check out the new badge my site will get tomorrow. I found about about this on Rach's website! In addition, I will be planting trees through the save the redwoods league - one of the charities that I support every year.
Have a fabulous Thursday everyone. I hope you have a day filled with nature, love and laughter. So, go hug a tree - it sounds dorky - but it really is an amazing feeling. Just don't let the neighbors catch you:-) Or.... go do a headroll down a hill, make a dandelion necklace, take a rose petal and rub it between your fingers to get that gorgeous smell... do something that you used to do as a child that will reconnect you with this wonderful Earth that we inhabit!
Happy Thursday night. I got some stamping time today... oh yeah.... and I got hooked on a color scheme I have never used before.... green and brown with either white or cream as a neutral. On splitcoaststampers this week the CAS was a color challenge. You all know I love my color challenges and this one really had me stumped... until I started playing with it!
Tonight's card uses one of my favorite sets - in case you hadn't discovered that yet - Awash with Flowers and the sentiment is from FYI.
Oh... I am so loving this set!
I stamped the three negative images in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White card stock. I then stamped the positive images in Old Olive and Chocolate Chip - again onto Whisper White. I then used my Versamark pad and stamped over the dry ink and sprinkled all three images with Iridescent Ice and heat set them. I cut around the images and mounted them inside the negative images using the paper piecing technique.
The thing that was so super cool about the brown is that when I heat set it, I realized that in the light it looked like Ironstone Pottery - wow... it changed from brown to green to blue - and all three together - depending on how the light was reflecting on it. So, I call this my Ironstone Iridescent Ice technique! and I love it... now... let's see if I can replicate it!
A little of the retired satin mistletoe ribbon was wrapped around the card. I had already stamped the "you make me smile" sentiment from the FYI set in Chocolate Chip. Of course, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure the placement was where I wanted it! :-) A small half pearl finished off the main flower.
I hope you like it - Cherie, this one is for you! :-)
A shout out to Beth and Germaine tonight. Beth for making my day by telling me that she visits my blog every morning before she goes to exercise... thank you Beth - big hugs.... and to Germaine who is a fellow Englander and a newcomer to our regular blog readers. A shout out - and prayers - for Trish - and a huge thank you to those of you who have sent her a card.
Oh... yeah... and... mmmm... some of you wanted to know when my birthday is.... it's Saturday. We are not discussing the number of years that have passed since my poor mother gave birth to me in the very wee hours of the morning in the midst of one of the worst storms of the decade. Explains a lot doesn't it!
Have a fabulous Friday everyone and, as always, thank you so much to all of you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.
We had a great weekend and the concert was phenomenal. Lou and I had a long discourse about Wynton Marsalis' music. He tends to compose and foster modern jazz, which can be discordant and demands that you listen to it very carefully. Last night's concert was no exception. One of the members of the orchestra had composed, arranged and conducted 7 movements based on the inspiration he found at the Museum of Modern Art. I don't need to tell any of you that the pieces composed that were inspired by Jackson Pollock and Salvador Dali were at times tortured and painful, at others beautiful and lyrical. Either way - not exactly easy listening, but then the paintings by the inspiring artists aren't exactly easy to look at either. They force us to look at life very differently - and those particular compositions forced you to listen to notes and the way they were delivered - very differently!
However, the concert was a great success and Wynton Marsalis is not only the most talent talented trumpet player of our time... he's funny! That was very unexpected. At one stage, he was laughing so hard that the orchestra had to pull him back to his senses. The great thing about it - the audience was laughing with him. Just beautiful! So... we had a fabulous time. The hotel was incredible, the food sublime, the concert worth the 20 year wait - and time spent with my handsome hubby - priceless :-)
Tonight's theme is before and after and uses the Awash with Flowers set..... I love the first card I made with the Awash with Flowers set - this one here. However, it really loses a little of its luster when it is photographed and I realized that when I saw it on the screen. Cam also felt that it needed a little bling. The thing about it... too much bling and it loses the simplicity, but I felt that redoing it with a little bling would be a good idea, because I am sure there were many of you out there that felt the same.
So.... you have seen the before
and here is the AFTER - with a little bling.
I added a half pearl underneath the petals and also stamped the petals again in Night of Navy, then used my Versamark pad over the ink when it was dry. I added some Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heat set. I cut around the petals and mounted them individually with dimensionals.
It's almost like taking makeup from a day look to an evening look :-)
I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday. Thank you - as always for spending time in my little are of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your support are always much appreciated. I also greatly appreciate those of you who have asked me for Trish's address to send her a much needed card to brighten up her day and show her some support.
Happy Saturday night. I got some good quality stamping time in my studio today. Oh yeah.. it's a good day when I can do something creative :-)
The snow is really starting to melt and we can even see some grass. The grass is not exactly alive.. but at least we can see it. The air even felt a little warmer today. Consequently, I was inspired to use my new Awash with Flowers set again. You can see my other cards made with this set here .
Tonight's card uses Melon Mambo, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Summer Sun. I'm hoping that our flower pots will look this colorful in summer!
The two step stamping always puts me outside my comfort zone, because the pieces never fit perfectly - nor are they meant to.. and you all know how I like to keep within the lines :-) It's actually really liberating to let go and just enjoy it!
I used the sketch challenge from splitcoaststampers today - SC271. The expanse for the focal point was just right for this stamp set.
It also gave me a chance to use my Old Olive satin ribbon and playground buttons. I don't often use buttons, but it felt like just the right accent for tonight's card.
Card recipe:
Card stock: Melon Mambo (textured), Crushed Curry (textured) (115719 for the in-color textured mixed card stock pack), Old Olive (100702), Whisper White (100730)
Stamp set: Awash with Flowers
Ribbon: Old Olive Satin Ribbon (117292)
Button: Old Olive button from the Playground set (116313)
Linen Thread (104199)... did you notice that the thread was tied to try to mimic the little bows on the Dusty Durango, poppy like flowers? :-) Also, the thread doesn't come this color - I died it using my Chocolate Chip marker
Inks: Black StazOn, Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Summer Sun
I hope you like your second look at this great set. I'm loving it so much that I actually made 3 cards with it today!
I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday, filled with love, laughter and time to do the things you enjoy. Please also keep Trish in your prayers.
As always, thank you so much to all of you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere - your visits and your support are what keep this blog going!
Hi everyone. Happy Friday Night. I am so pleased it is the weekend. I'm hoping to get into my stamp room tomorrow to play!!!! oh yeah!
Tonight's card is the sneak preview that I promised you. It uses the sneak preview set from the new Idea Book and Catalog due out in July. We demos were lucky enough to be able to pre-order this set. I am so excited, because I immediately fell in love with the set when I saw it on Stampin' Up! You can see my other Awash with Flowers cards here
Customers will also be able to get this set as a free set with any workshop over $350.00- in addition to the normal great hostess benefits. So, this is on top of the normal benefits, for the month of April. So, talk to your demonstrator about this great opportunity - and if you don't have a demonstrator, you can talk to me and I would be happy to tell you how you can win this fabulous set! You can see the details of the special promotion called two-step into spring Download TwoStep_0310
It's a funny thing... when I first saw this set, I thought bright reds and oranges and blacks - typical Marimekko colors. However, when I started to play with it last night, I was very drawn to the negative and positive stamp. I had this image of using the negative space stamp in white on Night of Navy - and then reversing that. It needed the pop of Old Olive. I've never used these colors together - but I am very pleased with the results. Mmmmm... I must admit though - I was very surprised that this particular duo of stamps from the set took me down a very unexpected path. Even to a square card! Yes... a square card!
I'm sorry about the colors... I couldn't get to my tent tonight to take a decent shot and have found that my flash on my camera isn't working... mmmm.. technical issues I have to sort out!
Card supplies:
card stock: Night of Navy, Old Olive and Whisper White
Ink: Whisper White craft in, Night of Navy and Old Olive classic inks
I stamped the negative stamp in Whisper White craft ink onto the Night of Navy.
I then cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped the positive stamp image in Night of Navy onto the Whisper White. I used Old Olive for the stem.
I stamped "thinking of you" from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched it out. I attached it using snail to the left side of my focal image and positioned it so that I could add a half pearl.
I was really pleased with the final outcome. It was also very quick and very easy to do. I can't wait to play with the other stamps in the set. There are 18 pieces in this stamp set with so many opportunities to come up with very different interpretations. Oh.. I can't wait to play tomorrow.
For my loyal readers, I am going to please ask you to put our fellow crafter and jaydee blog follower, Trish in your prayers. She really needs them right now. Those of you who follow my blog regularly will know that Trish is a regular commenter on my blog, fellow demonstrator and all round amazing lady. Trish let me know that she hadn't managed to comment on my blog in the last few days because she was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer last weekend. The fact that Trish apologized for not commenting on my blog was amazing.... she has so many things to take care of right now and yet she still wanted me to know that she was sorry she wouldn't be around to comment whilst she was seeing the specialists and going for surgery.
If you would like to send a card of support for Trish, please email me and I will send you her address. I know that many of you will have been affected by this disease in one way or another and may want to show your support. I hope you do. Trish, I know that you won't be reading my blog too often - but I did want you to know that you are so much in my prayers and in my thoughts. Tonight's card is dedicated to you... and I am thinking of you.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend, filled with love and laughter. Remember to hug those around you and be grateful for both the small - and the large things in life that you have.
If you would like to send a card to Trish to brighten her day, please just send me an email.
Hugs
Jaydee

This is my personal blog. I am an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and responsible for its content. Stampin' Up! does not endorse the use of or contents of the classes, services, or non-Stampin' Up! products I may offer here. Almost all stamps are copyright of Stampin' Up. You are welcome to CASE my projects, but please follow the code of blogging and give proper credit. It's the right thing to do :-)
