Banner Greetings for Paper Players #150

 Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

The fabulous Anne Marie has a great challenge across at the Paper Players this week.

I mean, whenever have you known me resist a plea to add a bling to a card!  I thought about it for a couple of minutes, got out the "blingyest" things I could find and got to work.

I knew I wanted to make a wedding card and keep it to a sophisticated grey, black and sand color scheme.  To add the bling, I dusted off my Silver Glimmer card stock and paired it with some mirror-like rhinestones.

The sentiment is from Friendly Phrases.   This set is now retired, but is still available via a digital download for use in software packages such as My Digitial Studio.   I stamped the sentiment onto vellum and wrapped that around the silver glimmer layer.

Next, I stamped the Banner Greetings "Mr & Mrs" three times and fussy cut around the banners.  These were mounted just under the silver glimmer paper. (I used a recent sketch from case this sketch as the starting point for my card.)

Here's my card:

We hope that you will play along with Anne Marie's challenge this week and we can't wait to see what YOU do with bling!

The design team certainly rocked the challenge and there is lots of great inspiration for you, so don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and check out their cards.

On a personal note:

Firstly, thank you so much to Marge, Nancy and Linda for leaving messages of support on my post last night.  They were very much appreciated!

I have a couple of wildlife shots to share with you tonight.  Let's start with this one:

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak and his mate are nesting somewhere in our woods and come out regularly to eat the grape jelly, seeds and suet.  They seem to love the variety that we provide and we are so pleased to have them be a part of our little ecosystem.

Next… I couldn't help but share this photo with you! I mean, if I had been just a couple of inches higher, I would have managed to get the Oriole completely behind the finial on top of the feeder arms! I thought it was a fun photo anyway 🙂

Lastly, here's a shot of one of our regular visitors.   He's certainly a handsome boy!

I bet you are wondering what on earth we are doing with 'caution" tape?  Well, we are renovating our woodland wetland area back to its natural state.  When we moved into the house last year it was full of invasive species such as buckthorn and Canary Reed Grass.  Both of these are non-native and the Canary Reed Grass is a threat to wetlands in Minnesota.   We are working with a local native landscaping company to remove the invasive species and replace them with totally native grasses, flowers and shrubs.   It did mean doing selective spraying of the invasive species to kill them.   Generally, I do not advocate spraying at all, but, in this case, it's for the overall good health of the environment and is a once-off necessity.   Hence the "caution" tape.    We used it to define our property for the landscapers.

Next week they come in to take out the grasses, rake the whole area and replant the grass and flower seeds and add the bare root shrubs.  We can't wait for that to happen and see the new flora come in and take the area back to its natural state.

I did get to spenda little time in my crafting space last night and today.  I need to immerse myself in something that wasn't work related and made some cards for the next Operation Write Home card drive.   (More about that tomorrow!)  It made me feel a little better doing something good for someone else.   Therefore, I will have some new cards for you this week, highlighting some of my favorite sets from the new catalog.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

What a lot of work you all are putting into have the wetlands restored. You are good people, you and Lou. I can’t wait to see the final results and all the critters you will have in their natural habitat. :o)
    Hugs!
    P.S. Hiya Lou!

  5. Jaydee, I love these colors together – so soothing and elegant. The rhinestones on the right of the sentiment are the perfect accessory.

  6. ooh, thanks for the pretty wedding card – I have one coming up, and wanted to make something rather special and pretty, and this fits the bill. So pretty.
Love your yard. Hopefully a return to the natural vegetation won’t be too conducive to mosquitoes – which make outdoor living impossible around here!

  7. I love your clean and simple blingy card, Jaydee, just perfect for the challenge! I’m also quite fascinated by all your wildlife photos and stories. I learn something new every day when I read your posts! Hugs 🙂 Sandy

  8. Jaydee, this is SO pretty! I love the pops of sparkle and the triple banner accent is the perfect touch. Such a wonderful card to celebrate wedded bliss. I love seeing your photos. You have quite the assortment of visitors in your yard. I saw an oppossum the other day in our front yard and I ran inside as quick as I could. Ha! Those little bugger hiss! Eek! 🙂
