Hi Everyone,
Happy Saturday. I'm sorry that I haven't posted the last couple of days, but I have been absolutely out of it - literally. For those of you following my blog, you may remember that we spent the weekend taking up the carpet, etc downstairs and somewhere between pulling up carpet, underlay, tack strips and moving all the furniture, I ended up tearing the trapezoid muscles which caused cervical spasms and a I also managed to trap a nerve! It causes problems and pains similar to those that you feel with whiplash. Consequently, I had almost no sleep for 3 days and I ended up in the ER Thursday morning. I felt like such a baby, but the spasms and pain were excruciating. So I haven't been able to use my PC, because it requires that I look down (not something I cannot do easily!) I start physio on Monday and the pills are starting to help with the spasms and the pain but it'll take a while to return to normal. I guess I had never realized just how much we use the muscles in the neck.... So... that's the story of my last few days.
My stamping space looks better now though and is almost where I want it to be and organized in a way that suits me.
All the upheaval and pain pills mean that I haven't been able to play with my new goodies, but I promise you that I will be giving you a sneak peak of a couple of the upcoming items from the new mini catalog in the next couple of days (Ordering begins on September 1.) You'll love some of the new goodies, I promise! I couldn't wait to put my order in and get my goodies in my sticky little hands. :-) Now... I just need my neck to loosen up and stop going into spasms so that I can go make some cards.... grrrrr! :-)
Here's a card that I made from the Stampin Up Circle Circus Stamp. I CASED the layout from the SU demonstrator magazine and changed it up.
I love the bright cheerful colors and, of course, couldn't resist the polka dot ribbon!
Card recipe:
Card: A2 vertical - Real Red
Card Stock: Images stamped on Shimmery White (the SW really adds a little sparkle which I think is great for special occasions) 2 3/4 x 3. Matt is Bermuda Bay. I tore the edge of the Bermuda Bay at an angle. 3 1/8 x 4 1/8 (before being torn)
Stamps: Circle Circus: The circles are stamped in Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Real Red.
Sentiment: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ribbon: Crushed Curry
Background:
I ran the card and a Texturz plate through my big shot. (Jaydee tip: to give more raise to the image, I placed a couple of pieces of scrap card stock underneath the texturz plate, this helps create a deeper impression. I then ran an SU sanding block over the embossed image, which helps to make it pop just a little more. I love the fact that the Real Red mixes so well with the new in-colors. I've really enjoyed combining the new colors with the classics.
The great thing about this card is that it's very quick and easy. It certainly can be done in under 10 minutes and you can change the colors to reflect summer, fall, spring or winter. The circles are so different and are good for feminine or masculine cards. You can easily make a more masculine version by changing out the ribbon for just a strip of DSP, card stock, etc. When I first saw the Circle Circus stamp set on the sneak preview, I wasn't sure about it. But I've actually had great fun playing with it and grown to like it. I used it in and entirely different way in this post
Well I'm off to take my pills. Check back tomorrow for the first sneak peak of some of the great new goodies I got. I'm really desperate to get working on them!
As always, thank you for for spending a little time in my area of the stamping blogosphere - your visit is always much appreciated.
Jaydee
Those of you who visit me regularly, will notice (if you have the sound up on your pc) that I've added some of my favorite music - courtesy of playlist.com. If you don't like my music choice, or want to turn it off, just scroll down below the featured project on the middle column and hit the pause button. The one thing I did realize when I was creating the list.... I have very eclectic taste in music....and... in case you look at the list and are wondering..... Davy Jones wasn't my favorite Monkey - Peter Tork was :-) Showing my age now. Each of these songs has a represents a special moment or memory in my life. Isn't it wonderful that music can do that for us?
