Easy Events - Easy Tags and more convention projects for your inspiration

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday night.  Personally, I am so glad tomorrow is Friday!

In my posts last night, I promised to give you a link to some cards and projects that caught my eye as I was trying to capture some of the displays and boards for your inspiration.

In addition to the projects above, I have make and take we did to share with you. 

When I saw the Easy Events set in the new 2011/2012 catty, I thought.... nah!  not for me.  So, you can imagine how disappointed I was to discover it was a set we were getting at convention!  Well, it was another one of those OH!  I See moments.  We made these wonderful little tags and I fell completely in love with this set.  I thought they made a great hostess gift, friend gift, etc. and you can use many of the stamps to create very different tags.

So, let's take a look at the 4 tags so you can see the color differences.

Aren't they fabulous?  Here's the deets:

• You can see that the card stock is Naturals White
• The flower colors:  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral
• We used the Itty Bitty Punches to create 1) the hole at the top, 2) the flower centers
• The new white baker's twine was used at the bottom of the tags and to tie the ribbon
• Of course, the flowers wouldn't be "finished" without a little bling!

Aren't they cute?  I'll have a couple more projects to share with you over the next few days using this same set.  In the end, I was very pleased it was a set that we were given, as I really wouldn't have bought it... but LOVED the projects we made with it.

On a personal note:

It's been a very long week since I got back from convention... work has been frantic - it's amazing that just 5 days away can cause such a backlog and chaos.  Luckily I had my time away, as it really has helped me keep relatively calm!  I am itching to get to some stamping and to do something creative though.  Withdrawal symptoms are fairly entrenched right now.

Today... the weather was a little cooler for us.  I know it's coming your way on the East Coast.  It is currently 83 with only 37% humidity!  I swear, it feels almost cold after the high 90s and humidity in the high 80s... pushing the heat index up to near 110.  I know Brenda loves the heat... but me... I hate it. 

However, one good thing.... as I am working in the family room, on the chaise lounge, with my leg raised... I get a fabulous view of the fountain.  Sadly, I wasn't quick enough to get downstairs to my camera (I am a little incapacitated in the speed department :-)...) and missed some fabulous photographs of the hummer taking a plunge bath, two flickers taking a bath and a pair of teenage grackles taking advantage of their very hot - and very wet parents!  I am SO pleased we put in the fountain.  In fact, it has been such a hit, that we are putting one at the front when we do landscaping out there next month, too!

3D with Jaydee - Card Keeper Box - Sneak Peek & some favorite projects from convention

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday night.

Sorry I missed my blog post last night.  I had dinner with the wonderful Bethany, Brenda and Cherie last night and when I got back my leg was really swollen and I needed to spend some time elevating it and getting the swelling down.  By the time it was stabilizing, I realized I had missed the deadline for feedburner!

However, I do have several things to share with you tonight to make up for it.  :-)

Firstly, a fabulous new addition to the mini catalog.  I love doing altered 3D items, but so rarely actually get to do them.  SU gave us the perfect opportunity in one of the make and takes.  

In the new Holiday mini is a Card Keeper Box.  It's fabulous.  Very sturdy and easy to alter to personalize it and jazz it up.  SU provided us with all the goodies that we would need and it was just a case of sitting down and following the instructions once I got back.  I didn't want to make it in SLC because I wanted to make sure that it didn't get damaged on my way back.

Isn't that fabulous?  The fabric is from the Timeless Portrait Designer Fabric selection and was used to cover just the box top.  Let's take a closeup of that fabulous flower on top of the lid.

Isn't that gorgeous???  I mean, seriously!  It's totally OTT and just wonderful.  The multiple layers, textures, bling, colors, etc. LOVE IT!  I had such fun making it.  I think that they make a fabulous gift for a friend... or yourself :-)

I have to share this fabulous sneak peek with you.  There is a new stocking die in the holiday mini... LOVE it.. along with some fabulous mini jingle bells.  Here's one of the samples made by the very talented creative crew at SU. 

Isn't that fabulous?  See the little jingle bells that they have made into a wreath?  Absolutely love it.

Then... On a personal note:

My leg is the most gorgeous color of... well... So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz.  Still lots of Rich Razzleberry and the occasional Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush.    It honestly looks as though I have a tattoo that extends from above my knee all the way to my toes.  The only reason you realize it isn't a tattoo.... it's really pretty ugly.  When I went to the Doctor she said.. OK.. so what do we have.  I said... well my leg is a bit of a mess.  I then raised my trouser leg.  Her response?  Well... you know, that's the most accurate description of a condition I have heard in a while.  It really IS a mess!  Funny.... yep... really funny :-) Actually she was great!  So... that's the update on my leg :-)

The pussycats certainly missed us whilst we were away.  Little Charlie, who is maturing beautifully, really missed me.  He is my constant companion throughout the day, so was getting pretty lonely.  I was making my Make and Takes on Sunday afternoon, when he decided it was time to come and distract me with a little lovin'... a little purrin' and a little paddin'.  

Yep... didn't get much done for about 10 minutes!  He played with my snail.  He played with my card, he pushed papers around... anything to show me that he was being really very helpful and he couldn't understand why I had left him!  Isn't he one lucky cat?  Considering Lou found him abandoned in a corn field miles from town just before the cold weather set in last year?

More Convention Photos, a few more Vacation Photos, and a Photo for Rach

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday night.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Monday.... one where the weather is comfortable... kind of like Goldilocks... not too cold, not too hot and certainly not humid!  Here..  well... let's just say that this little Goldilocks isn't too happy with the weather!  5 inches of rain on Friday has really increased the humidity levels.  It is currently (at 7.30pm) 95 degrees with a heat indices at around 104.  Yikes. give me the cold anytime.  BUT... the world sure does look pretty outside :-)

I promised to share some more display board photographs with you.  I have one more update after tonight.  I will share some of the pics and projects that took my fancy as I was quickly snapping the display boards.

Now... I will share some more travel pics with you.  I really, honestly, can't believe how gorgeous this area is.  Missy, you are so lucky to have this on your doorstep!

This pic was taken from our balcony.  I thought the three different evergreens all together like this were just amazing.  So textural and architectural - and well, just perfect!

The next shot is of the stream that ran right past our room.  As Utah had 400 inches of snow this winter.. there is a tremendous amount of snow melt going on.  I cannot begin to describe the sound this water made.  It really sounded like 4 GE airplane engines gunning to take off.  It was so incredibly loud that we almost didn't sleep the first night. 

As we came up on the ski lift and looked to the left - here was this amazing site.  No picture I took could adequately even begin to capture how breathtaking, and how vast, this vista was.  It looks like the top of the world!

Well, that's what we thought... until we saw this a few feet further on.

What do you think of that?????  We were awestruck.  Gobsmacked.  Whatever you want to call it in your local colloquialism.... it was STUNNING!  No wonder we did this ride twice!

On a personal note. 

For those of you interested in my leg :-)  I did visit with the Dr today.  Doesn't look as though there is a break or a DVT.  It does look as though there is a torn meniscus and maybe ligament damage.  Neither can be confirmed until they do an MRI.  They won't do that until the swelling and brusing have gone down.  So, for the next two weeks, it's rest, compression and elevation of the leg.  I'll give you an update in a couple of weeks if anything changes.  Thank you to all of you who have expressed concern.

I want to finish with one final photograph tonight.  Rach... this is for you my friend.  You know I am thinking about you and will be thinking about you even more tomorrow.  On Tuesday I was looking at this amazing place called Sundance and remarking on how magical, serene and what amazing energy surrounds it and how you, B, the girls - and Hannah - would have loved it.  I came around the corner.. and what did I see?  A little bit of butterfly magic.  Big hugs, my friend.

Convention Update with Display Board Photos and a couple of personal photos

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

Finally back and the heat and humidity are really high. Currently it's in the mid 90s and the humidity is moving on up to 85%, pushing the heat index into the triple digits.  Apparently we are due to keep these conditions around until mid-week!  Salt Lake was hot... but not humid, it was like an oven getting off the plane yesterday.  I have to tell you... I'll take the minus temperatures any day over the hot, humid days!  So, I am staying inside today, resting my leg (after unpacking that is!) and trying to get some crafting done.

I have loaded as many of the pictures that I took into my mobile me gallery.  I have also tried to categorize them for you.  Convention really was pretty amazing.  The SU team do a fabulous job running these events and making even small demos feel special.  Prize Patrol is always a wonderful thing - especially for those lucky enough to receive something :-) but, all of us got to take home several things during the +One sessions.  We each got a pack of the new Holiday Minis, a Simply Sent card set, a special business related stamp set, the hostess stamp set from the new mini and an MDS CD.  In addition, there was a workshop in a bag as a present after the Make and Take sessions, as well as the fabulous binder that was especially created for the convention attendees.

On a personal note:

Lou and I spent a couple of days in Utah prior to the start of convetion.  Because of the injury to my leg, we actually delayed our departure by a day.  As I am not allowed to drive right now because of my dizzy spells...oh yeah.. any my leg! :-)  Lou was very kind and agreed to accompany me to Utah, drive me around and make sure that I got to go where I needed to go.  We thought it would be good to spend a couple of days before hand relaxing in the mountains.  Boy... are we glad we did.  It was phenomenal.  We went up to Sundance Resort and spent a couple of days up there.  Unfortunately, we were not lucky enough to spot Mr Handsome himself, Mr Robert Redford, but there were a few reminders of the fact that this is his brainchild.   The setting is absolutely incredible.  We could absolutely understand why he chose this spot to build his house so many decades ago.  There is something magical about the place. 

After the checking in, having lunch and walking around a little, we decided to do the 45 minute ride up and back down the mountain in the ski lift.  The ski lift takes you up to 7,000 plus feet.  What a ride.  It was GORGEOUS.  In fact, so gorgeous - we did it twice!

We went for a drive to Park City and then took the mountain road back.  Coming down the other side we came across the most amazing size.  A birch forest.  Actually.... as Rach pointed out... this is an Aspen forest!!!  Thanks, Rach! Now, I've seen many forests in my life, but never one completely filled with aspen trees.  It was incredible.  It was so disconcerting because my eyes couldn't find a way through the trees.  It was absolutely, incredibly, amazingly, gorgeous.

I tried to take some pictures, but it is so hard to capture what it felt like.

As we drove around the other side, there was this amazing view of the other side of the Timpanogos with part of the Deer Valley Reservoir in front.

If you are interested, I will share some more pics with you tomorrow.  It really was a gorgeous place.  Within a day Lou and I were incredibly relaxed.  It felt so far from anywhere else on earth.  Whilst we were going up on the ski lift - over the trees, a falcon flew out of the trees just below us.  First time in my life I have ever looked down on a falcon! 

Well, I am off to do some crafting. Yes!  I came back very inspired from convention and am itching to get some ink and glue on my fingers.

Friday Convention Update and some fabulous projects

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday.

There were so many amazing projects shared at convention today, that it's going to be hard to show them all.  What I am going to do is put them onto me mobileme site and categorize them for you.  That way, the load times on my blog will not be that long, and you get to see many more photos!  Seriously, the projects are really amazing.

I took some photos this morning of the display boards and some of the display stations.  There were so many amazing projects that I was in stimulation overload.  Tonight I get to play a little more in the Village of Cuteness special class.  I won't have that project to share with you until next week though.  For the post tonight, if I make reference to a new product I highlighted it like this for you.

The morning started with my Make and Take Session.  I managed to get 1 card made :-)  Too busy chatting to the fabulous Vicki (the Dazzling Duchess) and her amazing downline group - Hey Missy and Kim :-)  They were kind enough to "adopt" me and I was very grateful for their company.

Now... I didn't buy this new punch... or this new stamp set.  Having played with the Raining Flowers stamp set, I am really pleased it was one of the sets we got at convention... it's really much nicer than I thought it would be!

One of the other make and takes, which I can't wait to share with you is a new card keeper box.  SU provided one of the new boxes and fabric and accoutrement that we could use to decorate the box and make it our own.  I didn't make the box, as I didn't want to put it in my suitcase whole.  But they are amazing and will definitely be on my list on September 1!

After make and takes, it was off to main stage to the "Garden Showcase" session.  For demos, lots of great business information interspersed with some great projects.  It's funny.. but I kept seeing projects and thinking... OH... Rach would like that.   Oh... Beverly would like that!  Ooooo... Brenda could TOTALLY rock that! I am going to share a couple of projects with you and then, over the weekend, when I get back, I will upload all the other photos to my mobileme gallery and put a link on my blog.  So, remember to check back on Sunday to see all the great photos.

For projects, there was a great mix of stamping, hybrid MDS and stamping, fabric - mostly 3D items.

I LOVED this fabulous pillow.  It was made using the new Fabric that was cut into a heart shape, torn at 1" and the stitched to the pillow.  Wondering how the heart was made?   It was actually made from the heart punch in MDS - expanded in size, printed and then used as a template on the fabric.  Cool, huh?  I would never have thought of using MDS for that!  Isn't this cute?

 
I saw this fabulous Napkin Ring project made using a Saran wrap cardboard roll, some elements from the new mini using fabric from the Holly Berry Bouquet Suite, new buttons and fabulous velvet ribbon!  I thought it was such a cute idea as it can be used for any event.

After the business sessions, it was off to the general session.  Shelli was presenting with her daughter Shalae.  The term, the apple doesn't fall from the tree applies to these two :-)  They were a delight to watch.

They shared some fabulous projects they were making for their August and September workshops.  During one of the demos, Shalae punched out a circle from her project and.... the circle went up into the air and disappeared down the front of her blouse.  Seriously, the place erupted.  It was so funny.  She handled it like a pro with Shelli just laughing so hard along with the rest of us.  It really was a very special moment!  She assured us that it wasn't part of their rehearsed portion :-)  Anyway, they made some great projects and I will share a couple of them with you tonight.

Then... they produced an OVER THE TOP project.... It really was a wow project.  In fact, the first time I tried to photograph it, there were so many flash bulbs going off that all I got was a white screen!

The detail on this page was absolutely amazing.  The little things that look like pearls on the chevron pattern are actually individual french knots.  yep, each one of those is hand knotted!  It really was an incredible page.

Before I go, a couple of photos of some projects for you. Here's some Christmas projects made using the new stocking die and some absolutely fabulous new DSP.... I can't wait to get my hands on it.  Some lucky demos got it today in the prize patrol draw.  Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them!

If you look carefully on the green stocking, you will see the tree stamp from a fabulous new stamp set!!

On a personal note.... little by little the leg starts to get a little better.  I am managing to get around quite well, but the leg really does swell up by about 11am.  I elevate it when I can, but it isn't enough.  When I get back home will be the time when I can really take care of it by resting and elevating it.

Convention news - Thursday - product news and lots of projects

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday night.  Greetings from convention.

Firstly, thank you to all of you who have continued to send me healing thoughts and prayers for my leg.  It's looking worse than my original photos, but I continue to manage to get around.  The talented Cindy Beach and Soozie4him suggested - strongly suggested that I go check it out, and I think they might just be right. :-)  More about these two amazing ladies further in the post

A shout out tonight to Beverly.... WAY TO GO, GIRL!  You are an amazing person, and an amazing demo.  I cannot tell you how proud I am of you.  I am so pleased to know you.  Warm welcome to Crystal, too!

I have some convention news for you, then another swap cards - and some more shout outs!

• New Product Announcement:  I arrived this morning late.  As I was getting close to the convention room I heard the room erupt.  I thought this had to be prize patrol!  No... it was Shelli.  She was making an announcement about a brand new product!  SU has taken a staple that most of us use in our daily stamping, and upped the ante.  A NEW SCORING TOOL, called Simply Scoring - will be available to demos on August 1 - and for customer's on the first day of the new Holiday Mini.  (You are going to love the new mini... lots of wonderful new goodies.... new dies, new felt embellishments, new stamps (obviously :-)), a new type of glitter... all sorts of wonderful new goodies.  Not least of which is the new scoring tool.  Scores are at every 1/8th of an inch.  An added bonus... scoring peg markers!  Way cool!
• For those of you who have never been to convention, Stampin' Up! certainly knows how to throw a party.  The stage set is gorgeous.  The colors and the backgrounds change.  I can't wait to share a couple of pics.

• Today, the Prize Patrol was out and about. Some lucky convention goes received a brand new scoring board!  Yep, there very own scoring board.  Second prize patrol - the winners won Simply Scrapping Kits.  
• SU didn't miss a beat though... as part of their +ONE campaign this year, they gave the rest of us two fabulous freebies.  Each demo got a set of 8 Holiday Mini catalogs.  (YOU are going to love the new catty..... some fabulous new goodies... new dies with a Christmas theme, new embossing folder, a fabulous new glitter (can't wait!), the Simply Scoring tool, and lots of wonderful embellishments for your holiday cards.  Seriously - there is something for everyone.
• Then... Sara, Shelli's daughter, did a wonderful presentation and shared with us very affordable crafting ideas.  She showed us how to get 40 easy to make cards from one scrapping kit.  She also made fabulous cards from a Simply sent kit.  Sara then invited hery daughter, Shelby onto stage.  Both of them announced that each demonstrator would be receiving their very own Simply Sent kit!!!!  I love getting free stuff :-)  Shelli had a very proud mama moment having her daughter and her grand-daughter on stage.  She was proud - and justifiably so.  Here are a couple of shots from the projects that Sara made.
• I'm sorry this pic isnt so good, but Sara showed the projects and moved them so quickly that it was really hard to keep up.  But, this is the Simply Sent kit that we received, too!

Then, here's a fabulous photo album that Sara made.  This was her over the top project - and it was really cool.  Once again... tough to get a good pic!

• I took a picture of the fabulous Christmas Project that you and your new recruit can earn details of that are here.  The project is absolutely gorgeous in real life.

A shout out tonight to Soozie4Him.  Soozie is famous across on splitcoaststampers.  She has always been so warm, caring and very interactive on SCS.  Soozie has also been very, very supportive of my OWH card drives.  Soozie sent me an email when she saw the pics of my leg... she really wanted to make sure that I was OK, that I was taken care of, make sure that I didn't need anything and we arranged to meet.  Now, Brenda will tell you... I am very good at asking for help for others (like our troops), but am terrible about asking for help for myself.  So, it was wonderful that Soozie reached out to make sure that I was OK and even made sure that I met up with her and the fabulous Cindy Beach today.  So... Soozie... THANK YOU... your kindness really meant a great deal to me.  You and Cindy are wonderful people, and I am so honored to have met you today.
