Hi Everyone.
Happy Monday night. Hope you are having a fabulous start to your week.
Well, it seems that you were pretty split on which of the 3 cards was "just right" from last night's post. For the record, Lou said #2 is his favorite.
I decided to combine two challenges today. A color challenge and a sketch challenge. I love being able to combine both, as it really forces me to think outside of my normal comfort zone box.
For tonight's challenge, I used the JUSTUSGIRLS challenge and CR84FN color challenge. The color challenge was to use light pink, bright pink and chocolate.
I sponged the flower image from the stencil set onto Whisper White using Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette inks. You can see that the overall sponging is very bright. A little brighter than I wanted. I also needed to solve the issue of where I put the sentiment on something so bright.
You can see the colors are very vibrant. I love the mixture of the two colors and the sponging gives a really cool effect. However, for the final card, I decided to overlay it with two layers of vellum to soften it up.
Here's my final card You still get the brighter and lighter pinks showing, but it allowed me to stamp a sentiment onto the vellum layer and soften the overall flowers.
Of course, I couldn't help adding a little Chocolate Chip ribbon to the top of the card!
Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip
- Stamps: Elegant Trio Stencil set (118262). Sentiment – non SU – signature greetings
- Inks: Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
- Accessories: Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon (retired). Basic Pearl
I do love using stencils on my cards. In fact, I love doing it so much, that I actually created a video to show you how easy it is. You can click on the photo before to go visit the how to video
Don't forget to pop along to the two challenge sites and check out the design team and submission cards.
On a personal note:
It was a great weekend this weekend, time to relax and just chill. I spent a fair amount of time in my stamping space on Sunday listening to KDFC classic radio via iTunes. I really find classical music so relaxing (so long as it isn't baroque or organ music! :-)…) I find that it helps to keep the other side of my brain occupied whilst I stamp. It turns of the little voices in my head that constantly babble amongst themselves. Am I the only person that has little voices? Mine seem to keep a running list of the things I have to do, things I need to worry about at the office… The movie that we watched on Friday, the latest book that I am reading…. There's always something I seem to be thinking about. However, listening to the music seems to switch some of that off.
So, question for you all….what was your favorite super bowl commercial. Now, I watched all of about 5 minutes of the SB last night, but did check out the ads on the internet today. I had two favorites…. MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE – CLICK HERE. My second favorite – click here. So, why don't you leave a comment and a link to your favorite super bowl commercial. It could be from a past year – I'd love to see what you chose.
Prayers tonight for Rose, Adelle, Jan A, Germaine and for Rach's friend Erin and her family. For those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

I like the use of the vellum. I always forget about using it. It softened things up beautifully. What a gorgeous card!
OMGoodness! That first ad was my ABSOLUTE fave of the night–and of recent memory! Oh I laughed! :o) I even wrote that on my blog tonight, lol. My other fave was the Passat commercial with the little Darth Vader. :o) And, I thought the Coke commercials were pretty sweet. But, the beaver wins, hands-DOWN. :o)
P.S. Why am I not surprised Lou likes the one WITHOUT the bow? ;oP
Jaydee – I LOVE this card!!! This is absolutely gorgeous!!! And I love the stenciled flower!!! How pretty – definitely going to have to try this! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂 Beautiful take on the sketch! Thanks so much for playing along with JUGS!! We really appreciate your participation!!!
Simply beautiful Jaydee! I love the stenciled flower and bow! Thanks for playing along with CR84FN 🙂
Just lovely Jaydee, I never have much luck with stencils, but you do it to perfection! The vellum overlay finishes of the card to perfection.

Stunning! I always love cards with vellum and you made this one so perfect! Love the stencil, but I haven’t a stencil in the house…I know *imagine* that. (well might be one stuffed somewhere) Thanks so much for sharing and loved the video. Sorry, no Super Bowl here for me.
Have a *blessed* Tuesday.
This is fabulous – love the big stencilled flower and magnificent bow!! Thanks for playing along with CR84FN this week!
Thanks for the great video. It looks so easy when you do it so I must try it.
The beaver commercial was our favorite too.
Animals and babies are always winners in my book. I’d like to retire w/ the tailor in Tuscany too!
Soft and pretty…classy and elegant! Since Brady is a trumper performance major, I am into classical music also. I even like certain baroque selections…if they have trumpets! lol As for the commercials, the beaver one was a hoot!
This card is so so beautiful! I love the 2 pinks together and the vellum is like the frosting on the cake! Love it!
Gorgeous, Jaydee! I just used stencils for the first time last month!
Aww, Jaydee, your posts always make me smile! 🙂 Sounds like you had a productive crafting weekend. I had to laugh about those little voices. I have them too but I can usually keep them quiet with chocolate or Starbucks! Haha! Your card is just beautiful! The vellum gives it such a soft look. So clean and classic, I love it! The beaver commercial was also a favorite and I loved the little Darth Vader guy on the VW commercial, too. Have a great day! 🙂
Jaydee, LOVE how you covered the bright colors with the vellum and added the sentiment! FAB idea! THX for playing with us at CR84FN!
