Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday night.
I hope you are all having a great weekend so far.
Well, it's Saturday night – and you know that means it's the night for my Paper Players card. This week LeAnne has a challenge for us that is perfect for this time of the year. It's a theme challenge.
I decided to try a new technique that I first saw on the demo only side of Stampin' Up!
It's called the faux mother of pearl technique. It's really cool as the colors change in the light – just as mother of pearl does. It's really hard to capture in photograph though. I took a picture under my Ottlite for you to try to give you an idea.
Hopefully you can see from the thumbnail that it has that luminosity in the light. It really is very pretty. It's created using Frost White Shimmer Paint, sponge daubers and a little ink.
So, going along with LeAnne's theme – I chose to focus on flowers. Of course, that meant that I had to use the Fabulous Florets set. I combined it with the Four Frames set and my Decorative Label Punch.
Hopefully between the two pics, you can get the idea of how pretty this looks in real life. I sponged the card stock, over the shimmer paint, using Bashful Blue, to make it look as though the Poppies were photographed against a sky background.
Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up!
- Card stock: Whisper White, Poppy Parade
- Stamps: Fabulous Florets (flowers), Four Frames (sentiment frame), Afterthoughts (sentiment)
- Accessories: Poppy Parade ribbon, basic pearls (colored), Shimmer Paint
- Tools: Sponge daubers, Paper snips, Decorative Label Punch
Now – it's over to you. We would love you to join our challenge this week. Pop along from Sunday 1 May to the PaperPlayers website, check out the fabulous design team inspiration cards. The team really has outdone themselves again this week.
You can also check out the submission cards – and add your own.
Prayers tonight for those who have been affected by the storms in the south of the country. My heart goes out to them all. Prayers also for those of you who need a little lift or a warm hug today.
Have a fabulous Sunday everyone
hugs
Jaydee

Very beautiful and such a great design. Love that sentiment.
How appropriate that your “You might also like…” cards are Christmas ones. It’s May 1st and it’s snowing here! Yuck! I much prefer your happy flowery card.
AWESOME!!!! Love this – now you just need to do a tutorial for me on that wonderful looking technique!! Such a lovely, lovely, card.

Very pretty card…sorry your weather is not too spring-like, but just gaze at your creation and maybe you can imagine it! As I sit at my desk, I can hear the first two Baltimore orioles of the season–and they are about as brilliant as your card! Fantastic!
Beautiful, Jaydee! I love the shimmer, and the snipped out flowers! Great color selection!
