It’s a Stretch!

Happy Wednesday, everyone.
I promised you a change of theme. 🙂 I created this card from one of my favorite sets.  I actually used the Mojomonday challenge number 79 for the layout.  If you ever find yourself in a rut and lacking a little creativity, check out the sketch challenges at places like MojoMonday.  In fact, I'll be placing my creations for the latest MojoMonday challenge on my blog tomorrow.
For now, though – here's the It's a Stretch card

Its a stretch

I stamped the image on a piece of Stampin Up watercolor paper and then used Certainly Celery, Regal Rose and Summer Sun markers, along with the blender pens, to color in the pot, tree and birds.  Once my initial Summer Sun coloring had dried, I then colored the faces of the birds with a touch of Regal Rose on their heads and breast.  I used Certainly Celery card stock backed onto Whisper White.  I then mounted the Certainly Celery designer paper onto a piece of Regal Rose and used the scallop punch to create a border.  I decided to go a little lighter for the matt for the tree and used Pretty in Pink.  A little piece of Certainly Celery Ribbon finishes it off.  I actually love the layout and think that the Certainly Celery green mixes so well with the pinks.  It's a great summer or spring color combination.  The sentiment is from one of my all time favorite sets, Short and Sweet.

Jaydee tips:  I always use a Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the sentiment.  I also use a Stamping Up mat to work on.  I like the grid lines on the mat because it makes it easier for me to eye the placement of my images… and it's really easy to clean.  For watercoloring, I find that the watercolor paper is my favorite, along with the StazOn inks.  When I use StazOn for the main image, I will often use it for the sentiment as well.  It gives a really crisp, clean impression on the paper.

On the personal front: I got to play a little today, but found that it took a while for the creative juices to get going.  I think that was because I had so little sleep!  My upline decided to hold a mini-convention for some of the demonstrators in the area and it meant I got to bed well after 1 am. Mind you, it's always fun spending time with like-minded people and it was a good night. However, considering I had to get up at 7 to feed the cats, I really took a while to get going.   My telephone headset chewing cat was hungry and when he's hungry, you absolutely cannot ignore him.  He will not let you!  He starts out by coming to love me and pads and purrs on the cover like a big baby.  BUT… that doesn't last long… he then gets decidedly more and more naughty knowing that he's driving me nuts!  He reminds me a lot of children I've dealt with in the past!  He's so adorable though!

I hope you have an inkspirational day and one filled with good times.  As always, thank you for spending a little part of your day in my area of the stamping blogosphere.

Peace

Jaydee
