Hi Everyone.
Happy Tuesday. I hope you are all having a great week so far.
The challenge across at Embellish Magazine was to create a card using a specific color scheme – and an embossed flower! Here was the color scheme:
I really wanted to keep my image clean and simple. However, I couldn't decide whether it needed an extra pearl or not… so… I photographed it without – and with – the pearl. Which do you prefer?
The embossed element is, of course, the flower from Love & Care. I finally got to use some of the fabulous Melon Mambo embossing powder that Brenda shared with me. Thank you, Brenda! I stamped the image with Versamark and then embossed it and fussy cut around it and mounted it to the base using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Here's a closeup for you. As you can see I placed the pearls onto a circle that I punched out of Very Vanilla card stock.
I stamped the background from Flores Suaves in Crumb Cake onto a Very Vanilla Background. The sentiment is from Happiest Birthday Wishes, and was stamped in Wild Wasabi. So, I managed to incorporate all the colors from the challenge, as well as the embossed flower, and still kept it clean and simple.
Card deets:
- Card stock: Very Vanilla
- Stamps: Love & Care, Happiest Birthday Wishes
- Inks: Crumb Cake, Wild Wasabi, Versamark
- Accessories: Pearls
- Tools: Melon Mambo embossing powder; Stampin Dimensionals.
On a personal note:
I promised to share the rest of the shots that I took of our deck this weekend. This is a continuation of last night's post. Here's a shot from the other side of the deck, our dining section.
Then looking back over the dining section, to the relaxing section.
Then, back to where we started…. looking from the garden back to the deck
and I couldn't resist a photo of my favorite little bistro table
Now, all I need to do is show you the before picture. I need to go trawl through some old photographs and find one to show you. Then you will realize just how amazingly different the after is.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, filled with love, laughter and time spent doing the things you love.
Hugs and prayers for those who need a lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

I canNOT believe you fussy cut out that flower! Okay, okay, this is you, so YES, I can. But, wow! That was some snipping, girlfriend. It is so lovely and clean and simple, and yet, so sophisticated.
I prefer it sans that little pearl after the sentiment. I find that pearl a bit distracting and think it draws the eye down and away from the image.
I would love to see before images of your deck. It is amazing and I can see some wonderful get togethers happening out there. :o) I really like that little bistro table is there right next to the bird dining. I also like how the relaxing area is near the nature. It’s all so wonderful.
Our new dishwasher is in, and it is amazing. Ah, peace and quiet in the kitchen. :oP
Prayers and hugs for those in need.
P.S. Hola Lou! :o)
love your card, and I love your deck, too!!
Your deck is WAY fabulous!!! I would love to enjoy the outdoors in your yard. I love your infinity edge fountain too.
It looks great both ways (although I always love good symmetry, so maybe I’d give the edge to the one without the pearl?). And I want to come relax on your deck! Haha. Thanks for joining us at Embellish!
Yep, have to agree with the others. This time less is more. And all that fussy cutting…well, your dedication to detail is amazing.
What a beautiful deck, so artfully decorated. It’s so clean and classy looking. Every time I see that fountain, I love it more.
Your card is awesome! I love your pictures of your deck and a peek of the yard. So inviting.
Your deck area photos could really be out of a home decor magazine – they are GORGEOUS!! What a beautiful area. You must love to spend time out there. Totally love your card. A winner for sure!
Love the card and I have to say *no second pearl* . . . takes your eyes off the center of the card which is gorgeous with the cut out image and colored pearls.
Love the deck pictures and you really must have some great weather out there to be able to keep so clean and the curtains and such. Whew, with our wind no way would them stay there and we have leaves all the time on the deck/concrete and pool area.
Thanks for sharing all the picture : )
Have a great day! We are in Bristol, TN as I speak for the Nascar races.
Oh I just want to come and relax on your deck! It is so inviting!
I like the card better without the pearl.
Fabulous clean and classy card. I love the flower over the script. Of course, the pearls add so much!
I like the card “with” the pearl! I may have asked this before but can’t remember–What is fuzzy cutting?
They’re both beautiful but I’d probably go without the extra pearl. It’s just so lovely it really doesn’t matter though.
Love your pics of the yard/deck (also checked out the photos from yesterday) and it’s simply breath-taking beautiful! Such GREEN grass – I just want to come roll in it!!! We don’t have much green grass here in Texas right now with the heat and drought and very much enforced water restriction! The whole countryside is just so sad looking.
Have a great week.
Lynn
This card is so pretty! I just love the stamps you’ve used…the font is amazing!! Great use of the colors in a clean and graphic way!
And your deck looks amazing!! I wish I had it!! 🙂
First, love your clean & simple card. You really captured the beauty of the flowers in the window. I can’t believe you fussy cut the whole flower. Such a great idea. It gives it a whole different look. The melon mambo embossing powder is gorgeous! I love the pearls, but think I like it best without it by the sentiment. Keeps it a little simpler to me & reminiscent of the photo.
Your new outdoor space is incredible! Now you need to plan a fun party. You’re going to really enjoy your deck now. And such a cute little bistro table.
Wow, do you have blisters from the scissors?
I like both cards, but like the added bead.
What a beautiful deck and peaceful backyard. I see why the birday and wildlife like it! Thank you for sharing.
