Measure of a Life

Hi Everyone.

Happy Monday Night!  Firstly, thank you to all of you who left such beautiful comments for me today.  I am so blessed by you all and I am so grateful that you found my blog.  It's a funny thing blogging… I had only intended to share my creations with you… I don't think I had ever intended to share a little of myself with thee creations.  I think it shows you that when we create something we put a little of ourselves into it – every single time!

Tonight's card uses the Measure of a Life kit.  It's a retired SU set, but I love it…. I mean really love it…  don't know how I missed it back in those days.  Mind you… I didn't think that back then I would have ever anticipated being in love with stamps that worked so well using water colors.

Tonight's card is also being sent to tayloredexpressions collection for families who have lost newborns. I also believe it fits for the stamping411 challenge again this week.  That's the great thing about challenges, you can be inspired to use them in so many different ways.

I stamped the dragonfly with StazOn and colored it with markers and ink.  Once I had the colors where I needed them, I covered the dragonfly with Versamark marker and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

Here's a close up for you…you can see on the closeup that I used my Big Shot and texturz plates for the background.  Tip:  to make the background swirls stand out a little more, I gently sanded the background to take the top color off.  You can really see the vibrant colors on the closeup, too!

I used certainly celery, taken with teal, night of navy and going grey, tempting turquoise to get these colors.  Isn't this stamp gorgeous!!!!   it was really meditative coloring in this image!

For the green panel, I stamped the "thinking of you" sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Night of Navy and then took my Bitty Background stamp (a free choice with SAB) and, using my Versamark pad, created a watermark of dots.  You will notice that the dots echo the dots in the dragonfly stamp 🙂

I'll be back in the morning to add the details and the recipe.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the card.  I certainly love it…. love that satin very vanilla ribbon, too!!!!

Big hugs to my loyal blogwatchers – you really are the reason why I do this everyday!

Hugs

  2. I have this set too but have not used it much. You have inspired me to try it again. I think stamping it with Stazon will make a big difference. Your card is beautiful, I love that ribbon too!
I have found that stampin411 is a wonderful site to! Thanks for the info on that.

  3. I love this card. Can you help with coloring? Mine never looks this good. Please share your secrets!

  4. Wonderful card, and coloring! You do such a great job at your coloring, that it makes mine look like a 1st Grader’s. Lol. Notice that I haven’t shown you any of my cards, I wonder why? You put me to shame. Just love the color combination that you chose to do the dragonfly in. Turned out beautifully, and your cardstock just matches so well. I too, really like that Vanilla Silk Ribbon, in fact I am going to buy a bunch of it before it is discontinued. Have a wonderful day. May you always be Blessed. Hugs right back atcha!
