Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday night.
It's time for the weekly challenge across at the Paper Players. This week Nance is hosting the challenge and her challenge was to use fabric on our cards.
Now, as I hardly sew at all these days, fabric is pretty hard to come by in my house. Consequently, I decided to use ribbon as my fabric. Well.... ribbon is fabric, right?
I really wanted to do something a little different with my ribbon. However, mojo must have gone AWOL for a little while..... I actually made 3 cards before settling on this one.
My new Hostess set - Something to Celebrate - arrived a week ago and there is a lovely Happy Mother's Day sentiment in there. That led me to making an early Mother's Day card. That in turn led me to flowers. mmmm.... now we are on to something!
Here's what I came up with
I was so happy with it. The rose looks fabulous in the satin ribbon and I know exactly where this card is going. It's going to have to go in a box though to preserve the flower! I really wanted to keep a very clean and simple backdrop and let the flower be the absolute star. What do you think?
Card recipe - all ingredients Stampin' Up!
- Card stock: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke (leaves)
- Stamps: Something to Celebrate - Occasions Mini Hostess level 2 (121955)
- Accessories: Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon (retired), Little Leaves Sizzlit die
- Ink: Bravo Burgundy
- Tools: Mini glue dots, snail, stamp-a-ma-jig, Big Shot
I wasn't using Stampin' Up! products when Purely Pomegranate was a color... but I have to tell you, I bought this ribbon on the clearance rack and I LOVE IT! Purely Pomegranate is a gorgeous color. It's beautiful with the richness of the Very Vanilla.
Now, don't forget to pop along to the PaperPlayers Challenge blog and play along with us. I know you will all come up with some creative way to play with fabric. It can be a scrapbook page, a card or a 3D project. It's entirely up to you.
Sue - I hope John had a fabulous birthday weekend. Happy 90th Birthday, John! You are a beautiful couple. Pop along to Sue's blog and check out the pics that she has posted. Scroll down to the entry for February 22 to take a look at the photo of John as a young boy!
Have a fabulous Sunday everyone. I hope it is a wonderful day where ever you are!
Hugs
Jaydee
