My post is very late today as we had no internet connection last night and I had not preset a post!
I have a couple of cards for you tonight. Two more of the cards that were sent for the CASE jaydee for a cause card drive for Robin, aka the Sky Angel.
Tonight's cards were sent to me by Cam and Adelle. Adelle chose a card I made last year for Christmas. When I saw this card I loved the fact that Adelle had taken the silver trees on Basic Gray background and warmed it up by changing the background to Night of Navy. It really took it up a notch.
Here's Adelle's fabulous take on my card that you can see HERE.
Here's Cam's card. Cam was inspired by use of so much Cherry Cobbler this winter. She was particularly inspired by my use of Cherry Cobbler on this card.
I loved the snowflakes with the little bit of bling along with the confetti card stock.
On a personal note:
Lou and I are still not back at work yet. YAY! Unfortunately, no time in my crafting space, though. That won't happen until the end of the week. I do miss it when I can't get into my space.
Did you all make New Year resolutions? I certainly did. I'm working hard to try to keep them!
Prayers tonight for Rose. Adelle, Germaine, Pri and for those of you who need a little lift.
Have a wonderful Tuesday and thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere, you know I appreciate it.
I found it difficult keeping myself to one stamp set, one dsp and one card stock. It did lead to a clean and simple card, though. However, I can't honestly say that I'm thrilled with it. Generally, I am pleased with the cards when I have finished with them... but this one... I just don't know!
I love the textures from the dsp and the shimmer paint on the trees. I like the red and white... i just don't know what it is - I haven't analyzed it enough yet to determine what I would have done differently considering the challenge.
I hope you have a fabulous day tomorrow - spending time with those you love and doing the things that make you happy.
As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere - your visit is always much appreciated.
P.S. as many of my fabulous followers know - I'm currently travelling with my DH for our anniversary.
Tomorrow I will be posting some photos from my anniversary lunch and the view from our cottage
at 6am in the morning. The weather here in Franschhoek isn't that warm - but considerably warmer
than it is at home this morning. I noticed the temperature at home is 28 degrees and ... it's snowing!!
Thank you to all of you who have left messages and sent me emails. I really appreciate every one of them
Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. Welcome to Jaydee's SU stamping space!
Today's card is from the MojoMonday 106 sketch challenge. It was a challenge for me this week, as there are so many layers of paper. However, as you know...... that's the reason I do challenges - to take me out of my comfort zone. So, pop along and check out the other inspirations - and challenge yourself. the Mojo team will be loading a new challenge sketch tomorrow.
So.... can someone please do an intervention and let me know if there is a 12-step program for being addicted to making Christmas cards? I have a serious addiction right now.... even my DH said to me... OK... can you make something other than Christmas cards! Today's card uses the level hostess set from the Stampin' Up! mini catalog - Patterned Pines. I love this set - and paired it with sticky strips from the Christmas Jingle simply scrappin' kit.
The sentiment is from the Berry Christmas set.
I hope you have a fabulous Monday. It's hard to believe the weekend is almost over and I still have so much to do.... not least is about 4 cards I need to make!
As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visit is always appreciated. If you have any questions on the card, stamping techniques, or SU products, just send me an email.
The leaves are slowly starting to turn and my summer flowers in the boxes in my deck have lost their sparkle. I think fall must be on the way. The hummingbirds are becoming more territorial, a sure sign they are getting ready to make their way South! As I write my blog post tonight, Bilbo Baggins (one of my Norwegian Forest cats) is curled up between my arms padding and purring. It's wonderful to be so unconditionally loved... now... if only he would get his big fat paws off my keyboard, I might be able to get this post done!
Tonight's card is using the new Hostess Level 1 set, Patterned Pines. When I saw this set in the new Mini it was a must have for me. For those of you who have visited before, you know that I used this set - but the snowflake on this card. I created this card as part of the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple challenge #31. The challenge was to "pop it up".... Well you all know that popping up parts of my card is not new to me, and I was happy to rise to the challenge :-) Actually, the hardest thing about Clean and Simple cards is trying to figure out when enough is enough.
I wanted to frame the central images without using matting. So the way I chose to do it is with ribbon on the top and then to score two lines just above the Merry Christmas. Of course, I could not stop myself... I absolutely HAD to use the new Shimmer Paint. So, my last card using Patterned Pines was in the warm gold tones, this one in the cool silver tones. I stamped the trees and then cut them out into individual trees. I used my snail to stick the left and right ones onto the card stock - and then used my Stampin' Dimensionals to pop the middle tree.
I love the simplicity of the card and was happy with the end result. As I started my Christmas cards early this year..... I'm in good shape and should be able to avoid the last minute rush!
Bilbo Baggins has decided that there is too much light so is lying here with his left paw over his eyes and his furry tailed on top of that... just to make sure he closes out as much light as possible.
Back to the card... the shimmer paint is fabulous to use and I've been really pleased with the projects that I have used this on. It took me a little while to work out how best to apply it to the stamps... and then I found the way that works best for me.
Jaydee tip:
I shake the bottle and then take off the top.
Then I attach a sponge dauber to my finger and use the dauber to gently pick up some shimmer paint from the bottle cap (fits perfectly, I might tell you :-).
I then gently apply the paint from the dauber onto the stamp. I then refill from the cap as and when I need it.
I found that this method works best to get just the right amount of paint onto the stamp; get a very even coverage on the stamp; and don't waste too much paint. If you have any questions on these instructions, just send me an email.
If you do a closeup on this pic, you can see that there is very even coverage and I love the patterns on these pines!!! If you like this card, you'll want to use this card I made using the Delightful Decorations set using the same color scheme.
As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visit is always appreciated.
I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday, full of time to do the things you love - with those you love the most.
Peace and hugs
Jaydee
Let me introduce you to Bilbo Baggins..... who loves the heat of the lamps in my photo tent!!!
I hope you are all enjoying your labor day weekend! The weather here has been perfect - mid 70s. It doesn't get any better than that.
I managed to drag myself away from My Digital Studio to create a challenge card. I have my new sets which I want to play with... but I'm desperate to get our cruise from last year into a coffee table book. So I'm splitting my play time into two! It does mean, however, that the vacuuming hasn't gotten done yet! :-)
Today's card is for the stamping411 SSC115 challenge. Challenges are a great way to take you out of your comfort zone, or get you out of a rut. I decided to use the Christmas Cocoa designer series paper with my new stamp set. The level 1 hostess set from the new Holiday Mini - Patterned Pines. I decided to use the snowflake from the set as it fit so well with the snowflake paper from the DSP. In my box of goodies was also the Gold Cord and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint - both from the new holiday mini.
Here's the challenge sketch. I decided to create a layer underneath the focal point with stamped images instead of using another piece of DSP or card stock for the central layering piece.
Here's the card that I was inspired to create.
I stamped the snowflake from the Patterned Pines all over the Soft Suede card stock with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. I then stamped the sentiment from the Heard from the Heart set in Soft Suede onto Sahara Sand. I mounted the two together and cut a piece of the golden paper from the Christmas Cocoa DSP to act as the matt. I added the sentiment piece onto the matt piece with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I then used the new Gold Cord (love it!!!) to wrap around the sentiment piece. Once again, I used the Stampin' Dimensionals to go behind the matt. I love doing this as it raises the central focal point, but it doesn't have a high profile because of the width of the SD's.
All of these colors match and you can see how beautifully the stamp fits with the DSP. The overall effect is soft, warm, and has just enough shimmery bling without being overdone. The script of the sentiment seemed to fit perfectly with the softer feel of the card.
I don't know how you go about creating your projects, but I tend to grow my card organically. I start with something that I like - in this case the DSP - and then play around to see what works. Sometimes, I find myself going in ways that I had never imagined. Sometimes I go places I wish I hadn't! But... generally it works well for me.
As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. A shout out to all of you who visit every day and send me an email or leave a comment. Sharing what I love doing is the reason that I created this blog - and it's always so heartwarming to know that I have inspired someone. Jean - you are amazing...... thank you for all you do to support me... but also all the other SU demonstrators.
I wish you all a fabulous weekend - doing what you love - with those you love the most.
Peace and hugs
Jaydee
