Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday night and welcome to Jaydee's SU stampin' space. Yippeeeeee… tonight you should get your feedburner updates! my thanks to the team at typepad for working the issue for me!
Tonight's card uses the phenomenal sketch from the stamping411 challenge again this week. I love me this sketch 🙂 I also managed to tie it into another challenge – it's rare that I can do that. The splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple challenge for this week was an inspiration challenge from Vera Bradley. I found this bag that I thought was perfect to use as a color inspiration. I couldnt get a pic of the bag – but here's the link to the bag. It had such a strong Indian influence for me, that it reminded me of my peacock experience and.. this led to Reconnaissance/Very Thankful and I found that the peacock was just the right size for the central element in the stamping411 challenge.
So, two challenges in one card. Love it!
Of course, I really felt the need to pull out the rich Brilliant Blue, Taken with Teal and add a little Elegant Eggplant – a gorgeous combination. I love it – and hope you do, too. I had to take the pic without my light tent, so the colors don't show as rich as they are in real life, but those of you who know the SU colors will know rich and luscious these colors are.
Card recipe:
- I inked up my stamp from my Reconnaissance/Very Thankful set (excluding the sentiment) with Brilliant Blue and Taken with Teal markers. (I love this set – and the fact that money goes to Ronald McDonald charities every time one is purchased – is a good thing!)
- I stamped the image onto whisper white card stock 2 1/4 square
- I cut 3 matts – one in Brilliant Blue at 2 1/2 square; 1 taken with teal square 2 1/2 square; 1 elegant eggplant square 2 5/8 square.
- Using my stampin dimensionals I layered them all.
- I took a piece of Flock Together DSP and put this on an overall Brilliant Blue card base.
- I inked my wish big stamp from the short and sweet set in Brilliant blue and stamped it onto whisper white card stock.
- I then punched a piece of Taken with Teal with my modern label punch and put the sentiment on to it. I stuck that down with snail.
- Then, I pulled out my rhinestones – square and circles and released the rhinestones from their housings. I put the square one as a focal point – as though the peacock was looking at it -) and then used the round ones to highlight the sentiment.
- The final touch… because of course I just had to do a "final" thing… was I took my Taken with Teal marker and went around the "eyes" of the peacock feathers
So a quick, clean and simple card that uses bright colors and a fabulous layout to showcase what I think is a gorgeous stamp. Jaydee Tip: Using markers to ink up your stamp is a fabulous way to give a tremendous amount of punch to a stamp – especially one that has such pretty details – with very little effort. Very little effort – but everyone notices 🙂
As I write my blog update tonight – the babies are exercising their energy by running around the house – except my old man Merlin who just lies and watches them.. I really can see the "what has happened to the youth of today?" thought going through his mind. 🙂
I hope you visit stamping411 and splitcoast stampers and look at the cards created from the challenges – I know you will find lots of great inspiration. Using the challenges is a way for me to reinvigorate my mojo. Sometimes I sit here and wonder… OK so what am I going to do… and looking at a challenge will get my creative juices going.
I hope you have a fabulous Thursday and that you get to spend time doing the things you love with those you love the most. Also, I challenge you all today to send a card to someone – just because you can.
As I say every night.. thank you so much for your visit, your comments and your support – it is very much appreciated.
Peace
Jaydee

Wow, you’ve been a busy girl! Two posts in one week! 🙂
I love the colors you chose to use together – Brilliant Blue is not a favorite of mine, but works so well with the others. Like the little sparkle too!
Jaydee is a rock star!!! I just LOVE these vibrant colors! Just an update… I got a donation from a friend of 62 cards for the troops, and last night, one other girl and I got the total up to 170. We are shooting for at least two hundred by friday night. Thanks for being you and helping out. I’m so excited!
