Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday.
Tonight's card is one that I introduced in my bow tying video. It uses the Winter Post set (which I love, btw). It takes a little time to build this card, but I was very happy with it.
Here's a closeup of the couple skating
I used night of navy for the card stock. I cut out the circle using my nestabilities – but you could easily do it with your circle scissors plus. Once I had the hole cut out, I ran it through my Big Shot with a texturz plate. I didn't want a deep embossing, so didn't shim the plate. I wanted something subtle.
The background was easy to create. I took a piece of card stock. Using a sponge dauber I started at the bottom and worked my way up. Increasing the intensity of the color as I went. I used Grey for the ice, went to Baja Breeze with a little Bashful Blue, moving to Going Grey, moving to Not Quite Navy and then to Night of Navy. You could use your brayer, but I find that I end up with the colors being too intense. (I obviously need to go on a Michelle Zindorf class!), so I stick with my sponge dauber and classic inks. THE KEY….. I used GLOSSY CARD STOCK. This really allowed me to blend the inks far better than normal.
To create the ice…. I put Crystal Accents over the grey area and sprinkled lots of dazzling diamonds into it.
I stamped the couple onto Whisper White card stock and colored them with my copic markers. I then snipped them out and placed them in the middle of the area I had colored. All that was left, was to add a piece of (now retired) Stampin Up Window Sheet and I was nearly finished.
I tied a piece of ribbon through the hole and around the outside edge. Added some Stampin Up basic pearls into the middle of the embossed snowflakes and assembled the card with a very small white frame around it.
I was very happy with it… and creating the background really was very relaxing, and not that time consuming. The key is starting at the lighter, moving to darker and using glossy card stock.
Prayers tonight for Rach….. sweetie, I did sparklies and RAKs today. Lou even suggested another one that we will do tonight! I thought about all of you several times today. Germaine, wonderful to see you comment. Sue….. WAY TO GO on your Altzheimers walk on Sunday. You are an inspiration. Continued prayers for you and John.
As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday.
Hugs
Jaydee

I’m SO happy you posted this, Jaydee! :o) I saw it in the video and wanted to have another peek at it. Okay, I wanted MORE than a peek and now I can *really* look at it.
I love the way you created the ice and the gorgeous sky. It leaves me longing for winter and Christmases of yore. I have a tendency to romanticize the past, you know. ;o)
Thank you for sparkling it up today, and for joining us in our Sparkly Hannah Day celebrations. :o) And to Lou, thank you too! We had a beautiful day full of happiness. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Knowing so many were joining us and praying for us really lifted our spirits and made the day even more special. :o)
Germaine, it was wonderful to hear from you! I pray all is well.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Hugs to you all! :o)
Such a lovely card. What a great use for those small pieces of window sheets! I just love your copics-remember someday we NEED a lesson on coloring. Somehow I missed this in my education!
What a great card even though it took a lot of time to do it! Your time sure paid off!
I too wish I could “Zindorf” a card, but I tried and did not have much luck!
I love the snow! Great job as usual!
Thank you, thank you all of you for all your wonderful thoughts for me and the prayers – I am doing a bit better, but still in an awful lot of pain!! if I only knew why??? I have reached a stage that I am ready to try anything even though I know I am hyper allergic to many many things!! Jaydee thank you for your e-mail I felt so good reading it, it felt like you were here having tea with me! I am trying to keep positive, it is hard!! but somehow I get the strength!!
Rach, I was thinking of you all day and sent a prayer to your Little Miss Dancing Queen! Sometimes we don’t understand why things happen to us the way they do, but eventually we do come to understand! Sending you Huge Hugs!!
Missy and Cherrie you too have been in my thoughts and sending you both hugs too!!
And, I must say I do miss Trish – it use to be great reading her posts, she somehow gave me a ray of hope to continue even with my pain, as I know that she was in more pain than I could even think of mine!
I am keeping positive for me and for all of you! Sending prayers to all that I have missed mentioning too! my mind sometimes drifts and knows not where it is most times!! and one finger typing does not help much… so Have a wonderful day and lots of love and hugs from me to you all and a special one to Jaydee!!
