Circle Circus - Clean and simple thank you
30 July 2009
Hi Everyone!
Happy Friday and welcome to jaydeestamping.
Back to the clean and simple theme today. I first saw the use of the Circle Circus in a topiary on Denise January's site. I thought it was a really creative way to use this stamp set. For my version, I wanted to really make the topiary the feature of the card, especially with such strong colors.
I cut a square for the planter box and then used my scallop punch on a piece of old olive paper to create a decorative edge for the box. I then cut a very thin strip of Old Olive to act as the "trunk" of the topiary.
To add a little interest, I sliced a very thin (1/16th of an inch) off either side of the front of the card. I then matted a piece of Crushed Curry on the inside of the card so that when the card is closed, there is a very thin Crushed Curry border on three edges.
I then added a piece of Crushed Curry polka dot ribbon on the inside of the card, before I stuck down the matt. The sentiment is from the Short and Sweet set. How many times can I use this set :-)
On the personal front: many of you have sent me an email asking me about my cat Bailey (he appeared on this post .) He's actually a Norwegian Forest Cat. They are very similar to the Maine Coon, but a little lighter in the body and don't grow quite as big. The "wegies" are a fabulous cat breed. Very friendly with everyone and everything... mmmm... except the chipmunk that sits outside the deck door and teases them on the other side of the screen. One Monday Bailey got so tired of being teased by the Chipmunk that he took a running jump at the screen door and managed to break a hole through it. It looked like something out of a Disney movie. I'm not sure who got the bigger fright; Bailey because he couldn't believe he'd gone through the door; the chipmunk who couldn't believe this cat had landed right in front of him... or me!
Card recipe: Card stock: Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Whisper White. Ink: Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Old Olive. Sentiment: Short and Sweet and Circle Circus. Ribbon: Crushed Curry Polka Dot.
As always, thank you for spending a part of your day in my area of the stamping blogosphere. I really appreciate it. I wish you an inkspirational day. One filled with lots of time to do the things you love.
Peace
Jaydee
