Pocket Silhouette and A Flower for All Seasons
24 July 2009
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday!
Two projects for you today. I promised in yesterday's post to show you the other two cards I had created from the SSC238 splitcoaststampers Wednesday Sketch Challenge using Stampin Up's Pocket Silhouettes and A Flower for All Seasons. I really love the layout, and it does play to my fall to style of crisp clean lines. Here's the one using the Pocket Silhouette stamp. I love this stamp set.
I used Soft Suede card stock (textured) on top of Kraft. I stamped the three images in Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and More Mustard. I matted the three images on top of a piece of more mustard and old olive papers as well as a piece of Soft Suede polka dot ribbon. The images were stamped on Naturals Ivory. The sentiment was cut with an oval punch and then placed inside an oval from the Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware collection.
Jaydee tip: to add a little bit of the unexpected, I stamped the three images in the same color as the matts. However, I matted each of the stamped images with a different color. It keeps the uniformity, but changes things up a little.
Let's look at the Flower for All Seasons version of this same layout
Again I decided to use the Soft Suede. This time, however, I introduced the Autumn Traditions designer series paper to use as matting. The soft suede is matted on top of a more mustard A2 card. The most intricate part of this was actually coloring the pots and the flowers. I wanted to create an aged look for the terracotta pots so used 4 different colors. The flowers were first colored with More Mustard ink and then I colored them with Crushed Curry. The inside of the sunflowers were colored with Soft Suede and then I used a little Chocolate Chip to give them a little more dimension. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. (love it!)
Jaydee Tip: When water coloring, use a good quality paper. Also, try to make sure that the colors are dry before you add other layers. When coloring an image, start from the middle and work outwards towards the edge. It took me a little while to get used to doing this, as it's completely contrary to the way my mother taught me to color all those decades ago. :-)
So three different cards from this one layout. I hope you enjoy. If you have any questions on the cards or the colors that I used, feel free to leave me a comment, or send me an email.
On the personal front: A very unsettled day weather wise and overall the weather is still much cooler than normal. I'm adding one more photograph for you tonight. I thought you might want to have a quick look at my headphone chewing, naughty cat. His name is Bailey. He's big (mostly hair), with a huge personality and is overall just a gorjuss feline. (oh... and he knows it, too. I think of him as the Fabio of cats (remember Fabio the model anyone? :-) And the thing I realized when I was uploading the photographs.... he fits in with the color scheme today :-)
Meet Bailey....
He's really no where near as innocent as he looks. Have a fabulous weekend everyone.
As always, wishing you lots of inkspiration and time to spend doing the things you love - with those you love. Thank you, as always, for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. It's much appreciated. Look for a new card on Monday.
Peace
Jaydee
