Find joy in the little things - Homage to retiring colors #5
22 April 2010
Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday Night. Tomorrow is Friday... Oh yeah!!!
Tonight's card was for two challenges - 1 of them I missed the submission. Time this week has been very short... no stamping time to load my submission cards!!!
Tonight's card is also a huge departure from the cards of the last two days. The soft hues, the water coloring and.... it's BLUE! Me... Blue! nah! you can't be on jaydeestamping! :-)
The Clean and Simple Challenge across at splitcoaststampers last week was an inspiration challenge. The inspiration Mackinac Island. One of my favorite places, I might add. If you click on this link - which was the Michigan postcards link that we were to use as inspiration (the link on the challenge)... you will notice the sunset scene at the top of the page, with the Adirondack chairs. Well, as soon as I saw that, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I pulled out my Peace Within stamp set and saw this great sketch on the unscripted sketches challenge site and I was ready to go.
As always, I encourage you to click on the links and go visit the challenge sites to see the fabulous inspiration and submission cards and, of course, to play along!
My homage color for tonight? Bordering Blue.
What I used to make the card:
Card stock Bordering Blue, Chocolate Chip (great combo, btw!!) and Whisper White
Inks: Chocolate Chip,Old Olive, Bordering Blue, Creamy Caramel, Crushed Curry, Basic Grey, Pumpkin Pie - a mixture of water color crayons and markers
Tools: Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976) - available for order May 1 (behind the ribbon)
Ribbon: Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon
Sentiment: Retired rub on
I enjoyed coloring the image, it really was relaxing and the sentiment, really just seemed to fit the challenge. Mackinac is a laid back place, where it is so easy to find the joy in little things. Did you notice that I tried to emulate the look of worn down stain on the chair? I'm still trying to get better at coloring. Doesn't the cat look so peaceful?
I'm off to do a conference call with colleagues in Asia. But.. before I go... why not pop along and see pictures of Rach's little bundle of joy. Click the link and I promise what you see will make you smile!
I thought you might want to pop along and see some of the fabulous cards from some of our regular and new commenters
Pop along and visit with our talented friends.
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and have some wonderful things lined up for the weekend. Me? Relaxing, stamping and trying to do a little more work on finishing up my stamping space. I've really had withdrawals from not being able to craft this week!
Hugs to you all
Jaydee
