Always on My Mind...... and blog candy update
Homage to Retiring Colors # 7

Magical Sunday - homage to retiring colors #6

Hi Everyone

Well... Lou left town again this morning, which meant a wake up at 6.30!  Trish, you know, I've been trying to tie this guy down since 1995 - nothing seems to be working:-)

I spent time housecleaning today and then trying to finish up labeling the storage in my new cabinet.  However, my mind was definitely on yesterday's house.  Lynn, you are so right..... sometimes houses feel like home, and this one certainly did.  I was imaging our furniture in the spaces - that's when you know it's home!  However.... back to reality :-)  I mean, it's not as though we don't have a nice view from our house and it isn't as though we don't have a nice house - and I have my own little stamping space, so..!!

Back to the card for tonight!  The card tonight uses A Little Bit of Magic - from the new Summer catty.  You will be able to order that in 6 days!  I used two challenges for this card - The Play Date Cafe color challenge PDCC26 - which is silver/grey, clay color, cream, turquoise and whisper white.  The sketch comes from the Clean and Simple Fall To Layout FTL87.  I'm really enjoying the color challenges and really encourage you to check out both sites for the fabulous inspiration and submission cards.  There really is something for everyone and I know you will be inspired.

Talking about challenges.  I was gobsmacked to find that my homage to retiring colors card #4 had been named the lead winner in the Curtain Call Challenge.  WOW!  I was really so excited.  So, it shows you that it really is worth going outside of your comfort zone to try something new.  My thanks to Stacey and the design team for highlighting my card!  Trish... I will place a list of the challenge sites that I visit on my blog this week, thanks for the suggestion.

Want a little magic in your life - then try this new set.  Many people have told me it reminds them of "Children of the Corn", for me, it reminds me of that wonderful hoax a couple of Victorian girls played on the world for almost 80 years.  Fairies that were photographed at the bottom of their garden.

  Fairy2

Card details:

Card stock:    Very Vanilla, Tempting Turquoise

DSP: Flock Together (one I am sure will be retiring in July), but I love it anyway

Inks: Really Rust, Tempting Turquoise, Going Grey (markers, watercolor crayons and ink)

Tools: Scallop round punch, round punch, snips, half pearls, dimensionals

Size: A2, turquoise layer 1 7/8" x 4 1/4", DSP layer 1 5/16" x 4 1/4"

I colored the fairy with my water color crayons and blender pen.  I colored the wings in going grey, the neckline in Really Rust.  I picked up the color from the neckline and borrowed just a little bit for her hair.

I colored the dress and the outside of the wings in tempting turquoise and the flower has a hint of tempting turquoise, too.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Grey.  Adelle, has asked me how I apply the half pearls?  I use non-SU half pearls and they already have little miniature glue dots on the back!

I really enjoyed working with the color combination and it was a great way to pay homage to some of the returning colors.

I'm off to have cook dinner and then go and watch Amazing Race.  I'm still hoping the Cowboys will win!

I hope you all have a fabulous Monday and a great week.  As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Don't forget comment blog candy is still in play!

Cute card but don't know if I would have the patience to cut out the little fairy! Also, Congrats on winning the lead - that has to be one of my favorite stamp sets.

Congratulations Jaydee on winning the Curtain call lead! indeed your card was the best! I am still struggling with a lot of pain, but keeping positive and trying to work slowly on my studio! it simply takes twice the time to do something, due to my hands being in so much pain! Glad you have a lovely weekend, mine was good too, with lot of love and sunshine!! Hugs always! G

Hi there! I'm hopefully back to my visits now that things are settling down a bit. :o)

Congratulations on your win--that's fabulous! I've dug around to see the cards I missed and they are just wonderful. I've never worked with pearls, so today's tip was quite helpful. Thanks! :o)

Your PDCC card is delightful and congrats on your retiring colors winning card!!

Missy

How pretty! I was kinda undecided on this stamp set cause my coloring is not the greatest! And cutting her out is not easy either! But I do love your card! But then again I love all your cards! LOL! Congratulations on winning the curtain call challenge! But to be honest it doesn't surprise me that you did! Your work is just AWESOME!!!!! Thanks for letting us enjoy it as well as the lucky person who gets it!

Lovely card, and beautifully colored. Now please don't get discouraged or offended, but I have never been the least bit interested in Fairies. Not even as a little girl, can you imagine that? This Stamp Set does absolutely nothing for me, but I do like what you have done with it. You have made it look a whole lot better than it looks in the Catty, so maybe I will have to give this one a second thought. I can imagine a little Shimmer Paint on the wings. Love the Pearl in the middle of the flower, and I almost missed it, I looked and then took a second look, because I thought that I saw something shiny in the flower. Lol. Great job all around again. A very well deserved Congratulations on Winning the Curtain Call Challenge! You really are becoming quite the Famous One lately. I wonder if you will remember us "little" people when you make it Big Time? Lol. I love that you share you talent with us, I really enjoy coming here every day that I am able. It is my Sunshine Spot to visit, I like your added personal stories, and of course I love seeing your work. Thanks for everything.

Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
