Slideshow night - Featuring Rach

Tea Time for Strong Women

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday night.  I hope you are all having a great week so far.

Tonight's card uses two stamp sets - one new - and one old.  The new set is Morning Cup and  the old one is Favorite Thoughts.  I've been wondering what to do with one of the quotes - and the Morning Cup set was the perfect set to use it with.

It also allowed me to use some new colors - and my new wheel!

Here's my Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Real Red confection!

Hotwater (1)

I really think this sentiment is perfect for this focal point!  Now, I used a sketch challenge to make this card and didn't write down which one.....I went looking and couldn't find it! aaarrrghh... so, if any of you recognize this sketch, can you leave me a comment and let me know so that I can give proper credit.

Card recipe:

  • Card stock:  Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Real Red, Very Vanilla
  • Stamps:  Morning Cup, Favorite Thoughts, Take a Sip wheel
  • Inks:  Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, So Saffron, Real Red
  • Accessories:  Early Espresso 1/8" ribbon
  • Tools:  Scallop border punch, dimensionals, wheel guide

Card instructions:

  • This is a really easy card to make.  The "hardest" thing was stamping the images twice and coloring them in!  Even cutting around the tea pot and cup were relatively easy.
  • The Card is A2 - cut at 8 1/2 x x 5 1/2" and scored and folded (on the top) at 4 1/4"
  • Cut the Chocolate Chip background layer to 2" x 5 1/2 - cut the So Saffron, so that the finished size (after punching)  equals 1 3/4
  • The Chocolate Chip square is 2 5/8" square
  • The Real Red is 2 1/2 and the Very Vanilla is 2 1/8
  • I inked up and ran my jumbo punch over the Tangerine Tango layer until the background was completely covered. Using your wheel guide - or a ruler - is the ideal way to keep the wheel on the straight and narrow :-)
  • I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink onto the So Saffron layer and adhered it to the Chocolate Chip using snail.
  • I stamped the focal images onto the Very Vanilla layer and then again on a piece of scrap Very Vanilla.  I colored the images and then cut around the cup and the body of the tea kettle with my snips
  • Wrap the ribbon just above the scallop and adhere well under the Chocolate Chip layer.  Adhere to the card base, paying special attention around the ribbon to stop it from "popping"
  • Adhere the Real Red square to the Chocolate Chip square using snail and then adhere the Very Vanilla layer (that you have already stamped the three images onto) using dimensionals
  • The whole focal layer is adhered to the card base using dimensionals
  • Adhere the two pop up images onto the focal layer using dimensionals and you are done!

On a personal note:

No sitting on the deck tonight - I finished work at 8pm and it was just too hot and dark by the time we were ready to eat, so it was an excuse to sit in front of the TV and watch Top Chef and just veg a little!

Lynn, I received your stamped images of Fluffles today :-)  Thank you so much for sending them to me, I really can't wait to use them... I just think he's so cool and really reminds me of Bailey!

Prayers for Trish, Germaine, T, Pri, Arthur, John tonight.

As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.

Have a fabulous Thursday - hugs to you all

Jaydee
