Red and White Cardinal
04 December 2010
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday night.
Tonight's card uses one of my favorite sets from the SU catty this year. Cardinal Christmas.
I combined two challenges - Lesley's Christmas challenge for the Paper Players this week - who could resist that challenge? Don't forget to join us this week.
I also checked out the challenge at Playdatecafe this week and they were having a color challenge. So, I combined the two challenges. I don't often just work with red and white, but actually had great fun.
Of course, the red that I chose had to be Cherry Cobbler. I stamped the Medallion background stamp on the base of the card and embossed it with White embossing powder. It's really subtle, but adds a little texture to the plain card stock. You can see it better in the bottom of the photo.
Card recipe - all supplies SU unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
- Stamps: Cardinal Christmas, Medallion background stamp
- Accessories: Basic Pearls colored to match the card, Cherry Cobbler Seam binding ribbon
- Inks: Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Riding Hood Red, Regal Rose
- Tools: Versamark, White Embossing powder, Stampin Dimensionals, heat gun, Big Shot, Nestabilities Labels #11 (non-SU)
On a personal note:
Lots of fabulous, fluffy white stuff fell yesterday! It certainly is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. We must have had about 8 inches in the snow on our deck can be believed. We are finally putting up the decorations and lighting up the new arbovitae's that we planted earlier this year.
Today, we went shopping for toys. It is the annual local TV station toy drive for Christmas Anonymous. It's the one time of the year when I am able to go shopping for dolls and trucks and skateboards and snowbards and hot wheels and lego. All the sorts of things that I hope some deserving, under-privileged children around the area will love to find under their tree this Christmas.
As always prayers for Germaine, Arthur, Rose, Pri and Adelle. Also for those of you who need a little lift.
I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday - filled with love, laughter and time spent doing the things you love.
Hugs
Jayde

This card is breathtaking Jaydee. I love that ovally shape the cardinal is in, it is vintage and clean and the embossed medallion is a clever idea. Glad you and Lou had fun shopping yesterday, it is a nice time of year to buy for children. Thanks for the reminder, I need to do that too!
Smiles,
Lesley

I totally agree . . . breathtaking and stunning.
Great job Jaydee.
Have fun shopping and that is a lot of snow this early. Sure hope it stays away from Ohio for a bit longer.
Have a great Sunday.

What a beautiful card and I just knew that the color was Cherry Cobbler!
I am not sure what part of Ohio Beverly is from, but in the northeast corner, we are getting snow! It does make it seem more like the Christmas season!

Jaydee this is unbelievably gorgeous! I love the embossed medallion behind the frameed cardinal. It adds so much to the clean background. The perfectly cut out image is so pretty, especially with those red pearls. So beautiful! So happy you had fun toy shopping, too. That is a great thing to be able to make Christmas a little brighter for the children! :)

Love the card! I never would have thought to do that with the mediallion. Thanks for helping us all think outside the box. Enjoy the snow, we don't get it too often down here... it's still getting up to the 50's and 60's (if not even the 70's) here. Hugs and prayers to all!

I thought my eyes were playing tricks om me when I was first looking at the card--I look then read your post, lol--as I kept seeing the "Medallion" stamp in the white but couldn't quite figure out how. Then, I got it! White embossing powder, of course! I was pretty pleased to see I was right.;oP
The card is simply gorgeous. Cherry Cobbler has become one of my all time favorite colors. I'm making a number of cards with it this year and only hope I have enough card stock to do them all...
I'm so happy to hear Prince P is doing well. I know it was an adjustment for everyone, but hooray for a happy ending! :o)
My prayers, of course, for all in need.
Hugs!
