Hi Everyone. Happy Friday.
It's Friday! Oh, yeah! You all know that makes me happy. I know I will have to work this weekend, but right now, I am enjoying some down time. In fact, I managed to get away from my desk at 4pm and Lou and I went to the movies. I felt as though I was playing hookie from school!
I wanted to share two different variations on the card that I showed you last night. The one from last night was the first of the cards that I did. I changed things up a little for the second and third variation. For both, I cut around the rectangle and the flowers with a pair of paper snips. I love my SU paper snips! I mounted the focal point on Stampin' Dimensionals. The only thing different between the two of them, is that for the Get Well Soon version, I stamped the focal image and then restamped it. I colored the second image, snipped that out and put it over the original image.
For the Happy Birthday, Friend one, I colored around the image with bashful blue, just to add a little depth.
Once again, I took myself out of my comfort zone and used a color I rarely use.... Peach Parfait. It is such a gorgeous color, but I have used it so little. However, I loved it on this card!
Both of these cards will be going to the troops, I hope the recipient enjoys them. I certainly enjoyed creating them!
On a personal note:
Lou and I went to see The King's Speech tonight. I've been wanting to see it since it was first released. However, they weren't showing it in my town. It was only after it started to garner so much award attention that the movie house decided to show it. I was enthralled. Being English, all of the occurences were still fresh in the minds of the people when I was growing up. My Father served in the war, my mother gave up her career to become one of the "Women of Steel". Growing up, people still had bomb shelters in their gardens and it was unsafe to play in empty lots. Lots that were empty because the buildings they once housed had been bombed. Unexploded bombs were still found in these lots. Edward's abdication was still talked about. Social status still kept so much of Britain's aristocracy from ever meeting or having communications with "the common people". All of these things were exposed so eloquently in this movie.
I have to admit that I am one of those women who thinks that Colin Firth is gorgeous! His portrayal of Bertie was amazing. Colin Firth is naturally so eloquent, that it was amazing to see him battle so hard to speak. Astonishing movie. Loved it!
Prayers tonight for Rose, Adelle, Maria, Germaine. For those of you on the east coast of both Australia and the US.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to spend time doing the things you love with those you love the most.
Cherie.... just for you... GO PACKERS!
Hugs
Jaydee

I like both of these, and think the improvements really set off the cards. The Peach Parfait is really such a lovely color. I too rarely--if ever--use it.
I am IN LOVE with Colin Firth. *sigh* I fell in love with him in P&P and the love affair has lasted all these years. :oP That said, I've been longing to see "The King's Speech" and am glad to hear it was so good. I think your added info about having family remember that time truly adds to it. Thank you for sharing that.
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend full of rest (and a winning Packers team!).
Hugs!

Thanks for the shout out~really looking forward to the game tomorrow. Cheeseheads rule!
Two more stunning cards, the putzy paper snipping really makes an impression with these cards. Some service person is going to be so proud to send these. And isn't it just like you to be so crazy busy with work but to still spend your free time helping others. Jaydee you rock!
Have wonderful weekend One and All, Warm thoughts and prayers to all those in need.

Lovely, lovely cards. Glad you and your Hubby got to go to the movie - I've been wanting to see it but we no longer go to movie theaters because John cannot hear well enough to know what's going on - and the head sets they provide don't even help. So, we'll wait until it's out on dvd.
