Hi Everyone. Happy Friday.
Tonight's card was another one that I made for the Virtual Stamping Night Pirates challenge across at splitcoaststampers last week. This one was called Arrrrrr. And the challenge? To create a card using three elements beginning with the consonant R.
I decided to go with the Rose from the Growing Green set. A set I have not used nearly enough. (OK.... hands up those of you who have stamp sets that you HAD to have and find that you hardly use them!!! I know I can't be the only one!! I mean... I HAD to have Just Believe and Nature Walk .... and I don't believe I have used either of them more than once or twice at the most. They are great sets... I just never know what to do with them!)
The second R element - ribbon. The third R element - the color - Riding Hood Red.
I wanted to keep the card fairly clean and simple and really focus on the rose. Why did I do that? Cos I made it for my surrogate Momma - Rose. Some of you may remember that Rose was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year. Rose went through her chemo and just recently passed her first 3 month check up. So, I wanted to make a card for her. This seemed like the ideal opportunity.
Here's the card that I made.
I have since straightened the ribbon :-)
Card recipe - all ingredients Stampin Up unless otherwise noted:
- Card stock: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
- Stamps: Growing Green. Sentiment: On the Grow
- Inks: Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red. Rose colored with copics.
- Accessories: I know you can't see it - but the rose was spritzed with Vanilla Smooch Spritz. Riding Hood Red ribbon.
- Tools: Scoring board for the background scores. Non SU punch used for the side panel
On a personal note:
Oh yeah.... today was my last day at work until the 6th of June. I really didn't realize how badly I needed a break until I was sitting on yet another call today and almost lost my temper! That's when I realized that I was indeed just a little stressed and needed some time off. I intend to use this time to do things in the garden, do my bi-annual spring cleaning and spending some time in my stamping space. Oh yeah.. and catching up on some sleep! In addition, Lou is home for a couple of days which is pretty cool. PLUS... I get to play on the new stove. It's certainly a learning experience.
Oh... and... yes... I forgot.... I get to stay up very late on the evening of May 31 - into the early hours of June 1 - waiting for the previews of the new SU catty. I am really hoping for lots of new stamps, new ribbons, new stuff for my Big Shot and some new accessories. I will be ordering my preview products as soon as I can and can't wait for them to arrive to play around with. So, I should have some sneak previews for you late next week.
Continued prayers for those affected by the storms. I still find the images and the stories gut-wrenching. Prayers, too for those of you who need a lift or a warm hug.
Have a truly fabulous Saturday everyone. As always, thank you so much for visiting my blog. You know that I truly do appreciate your visit - and your comments. I will be back tomorrow with my Paper Players Challenge card!
Hugs
Jaydee

I love the fern on your card, and often wish I had it, but, like Lynn, I WILL not buy it until I've used some of the (dare I say) numerous stamp sets I've already bought. I'm an expert collecter of materials and ideas, but also an expert procrastinator.
In Manitoba, we also have many people affected by flooding. Some are farmers whose fields have been ruined for years. I have no idea how farmers hang on; their livelihood is so uncertain.
Congrats to Mama Rose! Small victories are sweet.

Thank you for the update on Mama Rose. I've been keeping her in my prayers. :o)
And, what a wonderful card you have made for her--she is SURE to love it! :o) I like the diagonal score lines you added for texture.
Stamp sets I *had* to have? "Nature Walk" comes to mind. I LOVE it, but can't seem to use it. "Watercolor Trio" is another. :sigh:
Jaydee, I'm SO happy you are getting a MUCH NEEDED break. Hooray!
Happy weekend everyone! :o)

Very pretty and I know she's going to love this! AND she gets a high five from me for getting through that 3 month check up and everything being good!!!
I would like to say I don't have any stamps sets that haven't gotten alot of use - that I just HAD to have. BUT, I'm afraid I'd be lying!! In fact, I finally told myself the other day that I will NOT buy another stamp until I've used some of what I already have!!! (Yeah, right!)
Enjoy your time off!!
Lynn
