Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
I hope you are all ready for the weekend... I sure am. I am also ready for a long weekend, so can't wait for Memorial Day!
Tonight, I went the more girly route. As much as I enjoyed playing with the "guy stamps", I really, really, really, needed to feel some ribbon between my fingers! :-)
I saw the sketch challenge across at Waltzingmouse. The sketch called for an additional twist - stamp your own scalloped border.
I decided to use a color scheme I had never used before: Blushing Bride, Pale Plum and the ribbon is from the retired Purely Pomegranate. (I LOVE this color... I bought several roles of ribbon on the clearance rack!)
Here's what I came up with:
Of course, I couldn't resist a little bling!
I so rarely use Pale Plum - in fact hardly ever, unless it's a color challenge... but I must admit, I do rather like it with Blushing Bride.
I have a garden pic to share with you tonight. One of the most amazing sights in our garden, in fact.
Isn't he just amazing. There is something incredibly prehistoric about him. He always announces his arrival and it always makes me smile. We bought this woodpecker feeder especially for him. It's one of the few that will actually accommodate a Pileated comfortably. The long panel at the bottom allows him to balance his tailfeathers against it to give him a better grip and more security. I couldn't get close enough to him to get a really good pic - he's very shy - so, I had to use my zoom lens to get this pic. We get several species of woodpecker visiting our feeders, but the Pileated holds a very special place in my heart.
And, even though the ungrateful little beasts have flown the coop... I couldn't help but share this pic with you. It gives a whole new meanting to BOTTOMS UP!
On a personal note.
Well, Lou is finally going to be getting on a plane to come home on Friday. He's been gone for two weeks and isn't going to believe the difference in the garden since he left. The change in these two weeks has been astonishing. The weather has also been relatively cool and it has been phenomenal sitting out on the deck even for a few minutes when I can squeeze it in. It's quiet and peaceful and the sounds of the birds always make me happy. It really is a very tranquil little spot.
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday. As always, thank you for visiting my blog, for spending a little time in your day with me, and for leaving a comment. You know that they all mean a great deal to me.
Prayers for those tonight who need a little lift or a warm hug
Hugs
Jaydee
Hi jaydee! First of all, I adore that color combo you used! I just added it to my "book of favorites". So rich and elegant. Stunning card with all of the beautiful bling and that fabulous bow. Wow!
I just love the great photos you have captured of all of the visitors to your garden. I hope that you and Lou are able to spend some time relaxing this weekend. Hugs! :)

Beautiful card. I love the picture of the pileated Woodpecker. Absolutely stunning.

What a lovely card. Simple and stunning! That is beautiful ribbon too. This isn't a color combo I would normally put together and it looks nice. Guess that is why it is called a challenge!
Love your garden pics and feathered friends. I might need to try to get a feeder like you have for the woodpeckers. We have had pileated woodpeckers in the winter eating suet and I used the same discription as you. They are so beautiful and prehistoric! They always make my day whenever I get to see one and that isn't too often. Maybe the addition of this style of feeder would do the trick.
Have a wonderful weekend with Lou!

Oh WOW those colors really look amazing together! Love the bold bow with the lovely pink doily background. Your border is spectacular!

Love the card and I so love that ribbon too! I bought several rolls. To bad they retire things that we really like and that ribbon is so easy to work with. (you did a great job on your bow)
Woodpeckers are common in our area, the only thing is, they want to peck on the gutters of the house too. Drives us nuts!
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

Love all aspects for your card Jaydee, colours are lovely. Oh the woodpecker photo is awesome, took me back down memory lane to when I saw my first woodpecker in Nth Carolina, I could not work out the noise I was hearing from the tree near the pond where I was fishing, so went back up to the house and Cora filled me in on what the noise was! I could not get too clear a view of him though!
YAY!!! I woke around 4.30 this morning to the sound of rain on the roof, and it has been raining quite a bit all day, thanks be to God for sending much needed rain to Perth!
Have a lovely weekend with Lou.

As much as I enjoyed the masculine cards (and the inspiration they provided!), I'm delighted to see a "girly" card once again. :o)
Oh how I adored Purely Pomegranate and was sad when they retired it. :o( That ribbon is utterly gorgeous and I LOVE your take on the sketch.
As for the Pale Plum, I used to pair it with Mellow Moss...:sigh: You know, I wasn't sad to see most of the colors go, but the loss of Mellow Moss (and a couple others) really made me sad. Oh, and why oh why didn't they bring back Kiwi Kiss or Cool Caribbean? Just sayin'. ;o)
We have a Pileated that plays on the playground sometimes. We also have another smaller one that comes to the feeder. That photo is stunning! And, I don't know how you could resist those cute little oriole tail feathers?
I wish Lou safe travels home. I hope you both have a chance to get out and enjoy your gardens. :o)
Happy Friday to everyone!
Hugs!

Wow, a pileated woodpecker in your very own backyard! My mom would be so envious as she's been on a lifelong quest to see one. And my dad and I have both seen one without even trying. LOL
BTW, the color combo on your card is just delightful as is the layout!
