Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
I hope you are all having a great weekend. I managed to get some more time in my stamping space again today, so it has been a great weekend in terms of creative productivity.
I saw this great sketch across at Freshly Made this week and decided I really had to play along. It's another great sketch from the very talented Lesley.
As it was feeling so fall like, I decided it was time to pull out the Spice Cake DSP and use some fall colors. The thought of fall colors led to thinking about trees, which led me to the stamp set. I so very rarely use Lovely as a Tree.... in fact, it's so rare, that I only have 3 other examples in my library on my blog! Here's my take on the sketch
I pulled out my sponge daubers and searched amongst my various buttons to find three to match the colors and had a little fall fun!
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Soft Suede, More Mustard, Very Vanilla
- Stamps: Focal image: Lovely as a Tree. Sentiment: non-SU
- DSP: Spice Cake
- Inks: Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Baja Breeze, Early Espresso. I used So Saffron and More Mustard on the trees to create the fall colored leaves
- Accessories: Buttons and Early Espresso Baker's Twine
- Tools: Scallop Border punch, nesties. Big Shot
It's a pretty unusual card for me, but it's another one that will go the next card drive for OWH and I thought that it may bring thoughts of home for someone sending the card and, who couldn't resist that heartfelt sentiment?
Don't forget to pop along to Freshly Made and check out the fabulous inspiration cards from the design team. I know you will find lots ot inspire you. Don't forget to join the Paper Players, too this week!
On a personal note...
Brenda, yep... tickets to Adele and they were wasted. Yep! No comment, except to say... I was not a very happy camper! I mean, seriously, this was Adele! Rach, I know exactly what you mean... there is something really fresh and modern about her voice, but, yet, something so familiar. She's also a great lyricist and her phrasing is fabulous.
As always, thank you for visiting my blog. Your visit really does mean a great deal to, as do all your comments. I know that there are plenty of places for you to visit in blogland. The fact that you chose to visit me... well, I really do appreciate it. I have some great new galleries of OWH submission cards coming up this week, so I do hope that you will join me. Jeanne - Cam doesn't have a website, but she does have a gallery on splitcoaststampers. You can check out her gallery at this link
Warm hugs and prayers for those who need a little lift tonight. I hope you Monday is full of joy and laughter
Hugs
Jaydee
Lovely as a Trees is such a versatal stamp,it can be used for sympathy to adding crystal effects in the trees for snow. I hold my breath every year I get the new SU catolog, even though I have had it for 5 or 6 yrs! Your cards are always a joy to see!

Lovely card! I love the stamp set, Lovely as a Tree, it makes for such good masculine cards! It seems like it has been around for a long time!
Your fall colors are stunning together. As usual!

Beautiful card Jaydee! Those trees are so soft and pretty--makes me want to lie down under them with a good book. Love all the mustard too--such a great fall color. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

Great card. It made me laugh because I am using Lovely as a Tree for tomorrow's class. As long as it's still around, let's try and use it! Next time you have tickets that a certain someone can't utilize, please call! I'll drive you and a friend up there myself if I need to.

No, this isn't your usual style, and yet, it is. It has your clean lines all over it. It is just wonderful. Of course, I do so love earth tones and autumn. And, may I add I'm so so so jealous of your fall-like weather? I stepped out into a swimming pool this morning it was so humid. Seriously, I think I heard a splash when I hit the front stoop. ;oP
But, back to the card. I've never thought to use color on the trees, I typically just use it as a silhouette. I think it's time I stepped outside the box a bit. :oP
I agree with you completely about Adele's phrasing and lyrics. She is stunningly talented, no?
I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!
Hugs!
