Hi Everyone.
I know... I know... Thanksgiving isn't even here yet, and I'm stuck on making Christmas cards!
I wanted to make a Father Christmas, clean and simple card. Cherry Cobbler was calling to me, as I think it is such a perfect change from Real Red. It's also a fabulous color for Father Christmas. I had seen a set from waltzingmouse with a Father Christmas in a circle. I couldn't resist it. It also seemed the perfect image for my card. I added a Christmas embossing plate to the background, some gorgeous SU satin ribbon from the Holiday Mini and some Cherry Cobbler DSP from the Patterns Pack.
Here's what I came up with
Of course, I couldn't resist some bling! :-) I like the fact that the SU Basic Rhinestones carry on the circular theme. I colored Santa's hat with Copics and then went in with a piece of denim and created some texture on his hat. I also used Opaque white paint to color in his beard and hat trim.
Isn't that cute? It's also pretty quick to make. The "hardest" thing is coloring, and even that takes just a few minutes. The layout is flexible in that you can create the focal image in either square or circle. Whatever best fits your image. If you are worried about putting this card in the post, all you need to do is leave off the basic rhinestones and then it's a quick and easy fit into an envelope.
On a personal note:
I know many of you will be traveling to spend time with friends and family. Travel safe and have a fabulous Thanksgiving. For those of you who will be around, I will be posting tomorrow and Friday and will take a break on Thanksgiving itself.
I still have to decide what to cook. Being vegetarian, no turkey for us. Lou has said he doesn't care what I cook so long as it includes Roast Potatoes :-) I'm thinking I might just have to do a nut roast. I know it's not very 2011 to do a nut roast, but there is something fabulous rich and decadent about a savory nut roast with pureed vegetables, wonderfully crisp roast potatoes and gravy. OK... yummy... now my mouth is watering!
As always, thank you so much for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. I always appreciate your visit. Warm hugs and prayers for those who need them tonight. Extra big hugs for Pam and John.
Hugs
Jaydee
