Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
As y'all know by now, Saturday is the night for the reveal of my Paper Players Challenge card. It is my pleasure to host the challenge this week and it is a Clean and Simple challenge. I decided to mix things up a little but making it a CAS challenge with a color theme. So, all I needed to do was create my Clean and Simple card using the following colors.
When I suggested these colors to the lovely Lesley, I really had Christmas in mind. Consequently, tonight's card is... ... you guessed it.... another Christmas card. Of course, I had to bring out the Glimmer Paper again! I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!
Here's my take on the challenge.
I really do love this color combo. Now, even though I chose to do a Christmas card, there are many other ways you could go with this. I was thinking that Navy and White have a masculine feel and the silver could come from brads, or even duct tape!!! I do hope that you will feel inspired enough to join us.
Card tips:
- Using the glimmer specialty paper with your punches or snowflake die? You really need to remember to peel off the back layer of the glimmer paper. It has a plasticky type backing and another layer of paper. If you carefully pull back the corner, you should be able to remove the backing, and that layer of paper pretty easily. This makes it much easier to run through your Big Shot with the snowflake die. If you are using it with a punch, try a little piece first to make sure it will still go through your punch.
- Simplicity is sometimes the best. I wanted this card to really focus on the heartfelt sentiment. So I dressed it up with just ribbon and the snowflakes.
- The snowflakes add interest, but the bling could easily over power the card, so hiding them behind the card helps to keep the interest, but still allow the sentiment to take center stage
- Don't forget the rule of 3. There is something very pleasing when things are grouped in odd numbers. Try it out on a card when you next make one. If you are adding brads or buttons, try adding one button. Then try it with two. Then try it with three. I guarantee that the odd number will just "feel right"
Don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and check out the fabulous design team inspiration cards. We hope that you will also play along.
As we are coming up to Thanksgiving week here in the US. I wanted to share a heartwarming story that Linda shared with us via a message on my blog. I really felt that this story fit the season so well. What an absolutely amazing young lady is Hannah. Linda, thank you so much for sharing this link. You can check out Hannah's amazing story by clicking on this link. I promise you, you will be amazed.
Warm hugs and prayers tonight for those who need a little lift. Pammie, big, warm, virtual hugs and a bundle of love for you, my friend.
Hugs
Jaydee

This is gorgeous but I am thrilled about the hint of taking the paper backing off the shimmer paper--my friend & I about broke our punches trying to punch the stuff, and I was so frustrated after trying to use my snowflake die, I gave up! You made my day!

I think this colour combination is my all-time favourite. It's so striking and classy! I've really enjoyed seeing what the 'players' have been inspired to create with your theme.
I'm very glad that you enjoyed reading about our ladybug gal, Hannah. Thanks for helping to spread her story, Jaydee.

This is one of my favorite color combos for Christmas. The Navy with white is so crisp and sharp and the silver just sets it all off. This is an utterly gorgeous card. I'm getting SO excited for the holidays!
Wishing everyone a fabulous Sunday.

P.S. Hi Lou!

This is such a beautiful card, Jaydee. I love the luscious satin bow, the tag on which you've stamped the sentiment, and the clever placement of those gorgeous sparkly snowflakes.

Gorgeous, Jaydee! Thanks for the tip about the snowflake die. I almost tried it, but knew people were having a lot of problems with it.
After making a card today with these colors, I think they are my new favorite for Christmas cards. I might do all mine in them next year! :)
