Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
I have a card to share with you tonight that I absolutely love. In the class with Jennifer McQuire, she used this stamp with the embossed resist card. I used a very similar layout, except mine is a larger size and the colors are very different. I also used a different sentiment and backed the canvas. I must admit I LOVE stamping on canvas. It gives such a unique texture to the card. I also love the colors. If you haven't tried stamping on canvas - I really would recommend it!
Here's my take on Jennifer's card
Doesn't the canvas give a great look? I love the texture and the distressed edges. All I needed was some white embossing powder and a stamp that has a fairly decent surface area. I tried it with a fussier stamp and it just doesn't work on canvas. This particular stamp does work because it is so graphic.
All that was needed was a touch of Early Espresso ink for the sentiment, a More Mustard button and a little bit of twine. I used my square punch to get the "v" on my banner just right. So much easier than trying to eyeball it with a pair of scissors!
So, have I convinced you to give stamping on canvas a try? If any of the cards I have shown you have inspired you and you don't have any canvas and would like to give it a try. Leave me a message and I'll send a little bit of canvas along to the first 5 people so that you can try it without having to buy a whole pack of it.
Talking about sending things in the post.... Lizzie H..... my glitter paper came back to me today. It seems I had the incorrect address on the envelope. So, if you are reading this, please send me an email and I will resend it to you. Considering the rounds of the post office, it was in pretty decent shape when it arrived back to me. I was a little confused when I got an envelope with my own handwriting on it! :-)
On a personal note
Mr Merlin is making little baby steps to improving. If the poor thing didn't have this dreadful cold, I think we would be even more optimistic about his recovery. We gave him the appetite pill and that thing sure does work. The problem is, his cold has filled up his little nose so badly that he can't smell anything. And, for those of you who have cats, you know that cats will not eat something they can't smell. This afternoon, between conference calls, I had to run out and buy a little vicks vapor machine. I'd been trying to hold his hed under a towel over a running tap, and he really didn't like that too much. So I rushed out and got this vapor machine. I put him in his carrier in front of the vapor machine and put a towel over the top of everything for about 5 minutes or so to help his breathing. Those who have children know all about this process.... yes, Rach, I know you do! :-)
So, all we need to do now is get him to start eating regularly and get rid of this cold. Then .... we think .... he should be OK He's getting back to his grumpy self and really grumped at Jenni - our absolutely amazing cat sitter and vet tech - when she came to give him sub-q fluids today. So, we think he's starting to feel better.
I have to tell you... our vet and his staff are INCREDIBLE. The minute I took Merlin in, they rushed him into surgery. They looked after him all through that day and our vet spent until 3am with him, looking after him, expressing his bladder, giving him fluids, etc. He went home for a couple of hours sleep and was back again at 6am. I don't know any other veterinary service where that would happen. I am so grateful to them!!!
Lou is still away. The less said about that the better so we haven't been to see the house about 3 weeks now. We did get an update from our builder this week. We should be ready to close on May 9. Later than we had wanted... but hopefully they might be able to bring it forward another week. So, everything is starting to feel real now.
As always, thank you so much for spending a little part of your day in my neck of the blogosphere. Your visits, your comments and your support really do mean a great deal to me. Again, thank you to all of you who left wishes for Merlin.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Pammie... especially big hugs for you, my friend
Jaydee, this is simply gorgeous! Love that technique and it absolutely looks like a work of art! So pretty.
