Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday night.
Quick card for you tonight. I saw this challenge across at cas-ualfridays. Create a clean and simple card featuring ribbon. Now, for those of you following my blog for a while, you will know that is one challenge I couldn't resist.
My stamping was interrupted yesterday, so I didn't get as many cards made as I wanted to.. however, I did get this one finished before the interruption. More on that later.
I really wanted to make a card using my most favorite ever SU DSP - Mocha Morning. I really LOVE this paper and love that it works for male or female recipients. I decided to make this card all about the sentiment and the DSP - and, of course, the ribbon.
Using one of my fall to layouts, and an extra large sentiment, a gorgeous piece of silk ribbon I had in my stash, and a left over piece of DSP - this is what I came up with
I had originally intended using Early Espresso satin ribbon, but when I saw this little piece of caramel toffee colored silk ribbon, I knew it was the perfect touch. The card reminds me of cold days in Venice when we drank warm chocolate drinks with cream and caramel topping. Yummy.
Why don't you pop along to cas-ualfridays and check out the fabulous inspiration and submission cards - oh, and don't forget to play along!
On a personal note:
Well, Merlin may have gotten a clean bill of health last Wednesday, but yesterday afternoon he started the cat box dance. Backwards and forwards. Backwards and forwards. We gave him a pill to see if that would help, but to no avail. I noticed that he was straining, but nothing was coming out. So, it was off to the emergency vet. Sure enough, he had a blockage. This time, however, we caught it earlier enough that there was no toxic build-up. Now, I know the signs! They worked last night to sedate him and unblock him. We picked him up this morning and he spent the day at our regular vet. At about 1.30 pm he decided he had suffered enough indignity and took off his cone collar and took out his catheter. Now, that's a fairly delicate job - especially as it was sutured in, but he managed it all by himself with no help!
Needless to say, he is a little sore. However, his blood and urine analysis are clean. They took an x-ray and sure enough there is a little stone in his kidney. Tomorrow we talk with our regular vet to determine next steps! We got home at about 9pm last night, threw together something to eat and try to relax. This interruption did mean though, that I didn't get any more stamping done yesterday! Whilst we were at the emergency vet last night, another cat was brought in who was in the same situation as Merlin had been 3 weeks ago.... fully blocked with toxin backup. So, the vet was very busy last night!
Well, I am off to check on Mr Merlin and make sure that he's OK. I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday and, as always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the blogosphere. Your visits and your comments really do mean a great deal to me.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Pammie - especially warm hugs for you, my friend.
Jaydee
Oh yum! This card is very chocolate and caramel-ish and I love the wide ribbon! So sorry to hear that Merlin's had a relapse but it's good that you now know the signs. He seems like quite a fighter! Let's hope the vet can come up with a solution now.

Such a great card!
What great fortune that you knew what to look for now & were able to get Mr Merlin to the vet in time. Wishing you all the best as the vets try to figure out how to prevent the blockages in the future.

Jaydee, this card makes my mouth water (and that was before I read your description of hot drinks in Venice) it is totally yummy! And once again I'm in awe of your CAS abilities.
So sorry to read about Merlin, poor guy. I hope by now he's back to his old self, without any further "indignities". :)
Warm thoughts and hugs to those in need and wishes for a great day to One & All.

Love, really love this card. I'm sure you have put the vet's kids through college, I know we have. Betty's ashes are back today. She joins her two brothers and six sisters on the mantle. I cannot bury them, even the ashes.
So glad you caught Merlin in time. He is quite a guy. Marge

Sorry to hear your furbaby had more problems. I hope he is much improved by now.
Your card is gorgeous! Rich and decadant are words that come to my mind! I am sure the photo does not do it justice-but it sure is pretty!

I'm positive they came up with that challenge with you in mind, lol! It absolutely had your name written ALL over it. :o)
This is indeed a gorgeous card. You have convinced me I need to pick up some Mocha Morning DSP when I place my next order. Such rich paper.
The ribbon is just perfect. The EE satin ribbon would have been lovely, but this one is PERFECT.
Oh no! Mr. Merlin, what's going on, fella? I'm so sorry he's sick again, but I have to say, I'm impressed with his skill in removing the catheter. Wow. Cats, they are clever, clever creatures.
I hope you get some answers tomorrow and your boy is on the mend quickly.
Big hugs!
P.S. Howdy, Lou! :o)
