Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
It's the turn of the fabulous LeAnne to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a sketch challenge.
I loved the idea of using three elements on the front panel, but couldn't find something that quite fit for me. I think that's because I had gone in with a preconceived idea of what stamp set to use, and sometimes, you just have to let the sketch decide :-)
Eventually, I realized that I wanted to take a slightly different approach to the three elements and remembered a stamp set that I haven't used for quite a while and realized that would be perfect. Then, I had to find just the right DSP. Ah. Ha. Wonderfully Worn would work beautifully! I added a little Early Espresso, River Rock and Very Vanilla card stock and I was set to go.
Here's my take on the challenge
Initially I used a piece of Early Espresso to make the oval behind the sentiment.... but it was too heavy. I then tried River Rock and it blended too well. Eventually, I realized that a piece of the same Wonderfully Worn DSP I had used for the background was the best fit. To give it a little more stability, I adhered it to the River Rock oval I had originally punched out.
I used a background stamp from the same set as the butterflies to add more dimension to the DSP and to tie in the Early Espresso to the base of the card and the sentiment and ribbon.
One of the other things I did... I found that the texture card stock for the base worked much better than smooth. With the pattern on the DSP, it really needed that extra dimension created by the texture.
There are some amazing inspiration cards from the talented design team this week. We hope you pop along and visit each of the Paper Players - and join us, too! I really can't wait to see what you all do with this sketch.
As always, thank you so much for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your comments are much appreciated. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Pammie, extra warm hugs for you, my friend.
Hugs
Jaydee

This is beautiful Jaydee! I love the way you tied the color of the card base to the DSP with some background stamping. It changes the whole look and feel of that DSP! Beautiful butterflies and a perfect execution of the sketch. Lovely, my friend! (hugs)

Beautiful ... as always! I was guessing what you were doing with the card before I looked at it ... I was right, you used butterflies .... something just told me. Now I didn't guess the DSP ... I was thinking Mocha : )
