Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday night.
I actually got to make another card today! YAY! I saw a challenge when I was visiting Lesley at alwaysplayingwithpaper. I've never played in the challenge that she was highlighting and I loved the sketch. So, I popped along to alacardmonkey, checked out the challenge and decided to play along. Now, there is a twist to the challenge - it isn't just a sketch challenge - but a sketch that celebrates a MOMENT. Wow! Now that is cool.
I recently purchased a Papertrey Ink sentiment set and all because I saw this single sentiment. It is one of my frequent sayings and one that I try to take seriously. Always stop to smell the flowers. It's amazing how often we forget to do that and, with Spring on her way, I decided that I wanted to use this sentiment and a new stamp that I had also received. I wanted a softer, more subtle, and prettier look than I generally go for - something to take me out of my comfort zone.
A spring card meant spring colors. Wisteria Wonder, Pretty in Pink and Very Vanilla. I used the stamping on canvas technique to highlight the flower stamp. Here's my card:
I used both DSP and felt for the rolled flowers. These were made from a set of Die-namics dies. This card took a long time to come together as I putzed and futzed for ages deciding what colors to use, what card base to use and then what to do on the left-hand side of the card. A bow didn't work; pearls didn't work and it was only when I looked at the sentiment again that I realized what I needed to do!
Why don't you pop along to the alacardmonkey challenge site and check out the fabulous inspiration cards and play along with the challenge.
Many of you have asked me about the canvas that I use. I have taken photographs of the two different ones that I use.
The one on the left is 12x12 and the one on the right is what they call baseball card size. They are both sticky, but the one on the left is a little whiter and brighter. The canvas comes in very thin sheets as you can see from this photograph. You can see that I have finished stamping and inking on the canvas and am tearing off the backing at this point. You can adhere it directly to your card base or provide a little more structure by adding a layer underneath it as I did for this card. I buy my canvas on-line and you would normally find it in the crafting section of your local brick and mortar store.
As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your comments do mean a great deal to me. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Have a beautiful Monday and remember, always stop and smell the flowers!
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee! This is so soft and pretty and just perfect for Spring! It's a lovely stamp and sentiment. I always stop and smell our flower arrangement on the altar at church each Sunday morning. The smell of roses and carnations just brightens my day! Have a wonderful week.

This is so pretty, Jaydee! Lil would love it with all the lavender (she's moved from red to purple, go figure). I too try to take the time to stop and smell the flowers. Life passes by so quickly as it is, if we don't take a moment to enjoy the small things, well...yeah. Preaching to the choir, I know. :oP
I'm so glad the kitties are all well and that you had a chance to get in and stamp and stamp. Yay! :o)
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou!

Love your beautiful card. We all need to stop and smell the flowers (and all that means) more often. Life just has a way of passing by rather quickly. Thanks for the link to the new sketch site. I'll have a look at it.

Jaydee, this is certainly one gorgeous card, indeed! The soft colors and the pretty flowers really make me envious of those that get to experience a true Spring season. (We don't get that down here in Texas.) Hope you had a wonderful day today! :)
