Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
I don't have a card for you tonight, but I do have some more photographs. Before I show them, I realized I hadn't actually told you what the big birds were in this post. they are, in fact, Sandhill Cranes. We knew that they were in the vicinity - we saw them flying overhead in March when we came to look at the house. We hadn't though, in our wildest dreams, thought that we would find them wandering through our property! You can read all about these magnificent creatures on wikipedia here.
So, I have a couple more bird shots for you.... we are so loving being THIS close to the birds
I couldn't resist another shot of the female oriole!
Isn't the whitebreasted nuthatch just the cutest thing? I love seeing them run around, upside down, on the tree trunks!
I had to share this photo. We spaded in a 14' Mountain Ash. Errr... I have NEVER seen spades that big. Watching this guy dig a hole and insert the tree with this massive spade system was fascinating! The tree is fabulous and we are so pleased that we actually decided to put in such a large tree.
I also couldn't resist another photo of our porch. We sat on the chairs and watched them put in the tree
It's hard to believe that we spent so much time agonizing over the color of the bricks, the trim, the siding, etc. Even down to the color of the rocks! It was worth it though. You may be wondering why we have so many rocks and no plants? That's because I wanted to spend some time in the house to get a feel of the sun, shade and just the area in general. It's our intention to put native grasses all the way up the drive way and around the porch. But we haven't quite decided what yet.
I have one last photo for you..... Our dining table arrived and we LOVE it. We love the industrial and sculptural elements of the legs, but love that the glass top reflects the trees outside when you see it from inside the dining room. It doesn't feel "visually large" and just floats above the gorgeous floors. I'm so pleased that we actually went with this table. You can also see our dining room light.
As always, thank you so much for spending a little time in my area of the stamping blogosphere. I really DO appreciate your visits - and your comments.
Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight. I hope you Friday is fabulous!
hugs
Jaydee

Whenever you see a mountain ash here in Manitoba, you're sure to hear the cedar waxwings trilling call when the berries ripen. I love their soft velvety-looking feathers. I'll be waiting to hear whether they visit your beautiful new tree.

You know, when I saw that dining room table, I thought about bad kitties standing on it and how utterly adorable their toe pads would be if I were lying on the floor looking up. :oP
It IS utterly gorgeous and I bet it is amazing when it reflects the trees. And, how lovely to not have that beautiful floor hidden by a more solid piece of furniture.
I didn't do a thing to landscape our yard until we'd been here about a year or two. It just made no sense to make any decisions until I got a feel for the sun, shade, etc., just like you mentioned.
I had to chuckle as I was driving behind one of those giant spades just this morning and had wondered where it had been. Your tree is lovely and all those delightful birds are going to be so happy to have it nearby.
The front of your home is just beautiful. All that agonizing was absolutely worth it. :o)
May those stunning sandhills come to visit again soon.
Hugs!
P.S. Howdy Lou! :o)
