Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
I have a card for you tonight, a gift tag, as well as some photographs!
Firstly, I saw a challenge across at Cas-ual Fridays that I couldn't resist. A clean and simple card with vellum. Now... there's two words to get my heart racing!
I immediately thought of my new butterfly punch and the fabulous Patio Party DSP. Here's what I came up with. It was really difficult photographing this because the butterflies cast a lot of shadow and I didn't have access to my lamps.
I love this new DSP. You can see that there are little butterflies all over the DSP and I thought that was perfect to go under my vellum butterflies. I must admit, I am in love with the new Midnight Muse in-color and the little pearls were just the right addition to provide a little bling - and cover up the glue that adheres the two butterfly images together.
Now.... a few of you will be receiving this little tag in the next few days
I finally retrieved all of my blog candy give-away prizes, and they are winging their way to you all. I apologize for the fact that it has taken me so long to get them out to you all, but hopefully you will enjoy them when they arrive.
On a personal note....
it has rained and rained and rained and rained and rained here. The wetland is WET. As is our backyard. It's squelchy underfoot and I think the grass might be getting just a little too much water! On Monday night there was a storm that felt almost biblical! :-) Huge bolts of lightening from east to west. Loud crashing of thunder that seemed to roll for minutes. Hail. Torrential downpours. It went on for hours. As Lou and I have spent 14 years living in a very protected valley, we are not accustomed to witnessing the grandeur of mother nature on such a wide-open scale. It was AWESOME. Kept me awake for hours, but it was just astonishing to sit up in bed and watch all of this take place. I know it sounds strange, but it really is incredible.
We have had a couple more visitors to the yard and I thought you might enjoy some photographs.
This little guy has been checking out our woodpecker nesting box and visiting us on a fairly regular basis. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. Really happy. It's a pity that he didn't like the bluebird box that we bought specially for him!
The one thing that we haven't set up yet is our bird bath - or fountain. I'd been saying to Lou that we really needed to do that because the birds need it. Well, this little industrious birdie decided that there were little pools of water that she could have mini baths in if she wondered along the deck! I caught her just as she had dipped into the little pool of water and was shaking her wings. She repeated this several times in about 2 minutes! Smart little thing she is!
We don't see the deer that often, but it is wonderful when we do see them. I had to take this picture through the screen on the window, and it was raining, so it's not a clear photograph.
Several of you have written to me letting me know that you will be CASEing the snowman card that I created for the 100th Paper Players blog hop. I was really flattered that you were doing that and am pleased that you found some inspiration on your visit. Kelly, thank you for saying that it should be framed - that really made my day!
Thank you to all of you who have left messages on your new home. We really appreciate it. Linda, the cedar waxwing.... well, that's one bird we haven't seen. I hope we do, soon though. They are amazing birds and I hadn't thought about the Moutain Ash attracting them, I hope they do!
As always, thank you so much for your visits - and your comments. Rach, Lou is on the road and asked me to send out a shout-out to you as he can't get to his email to do it himself!
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Cherie - for you, too. I hope everything is OK now. For everyone, I hope Thursday is filled with love, laughter, warm hugs and snuggles with those that you love.
Hugs
Jaydee

I do so love it when you use butterflies--butterflies and snowmen. ;o) I love the simplicity of this card and the use of the vellum to soften it and make it more subtle. Just lovely. :o)
Ah, rain. I wish. No rain here. I've had to get out and water water water as we're approaching 100 again today. I told B he MUST remember to water my plants whilst the girls and I are in TN and he told me not to worry he had Holly on it. ;oP Er, she likes to play in the water far too much--I fear she'd become distracted from her task. ;o)
The bluebird is utterly delightful. I'm always so chuffed when I see them around our feeder. And the deer are so lovely. :o) I took my morning walk around the nature trail this morning and spotted three deer and two bunnies.
I read about your grasses and landscaping issues. Oh no! I hope everything is resolved quickly!
Lou, I hope you are enjoying your travels. B and Jess's husband Bob swear it's nothing but painful, but I *dream* of a hotel room by myself with nothing to do but read and sleep. :oP
Hugs!

Gorgeous photos...thank you so much for sharing them. I love the way you layered the vellum on top of the patterned paper to give it a softer feel. Thanks so much for playing with us at CAS-ual Fridays!

Bluebirds and white-tailed deer, how lovely. I've only seen a couple of bluebirds in my life and that was a thrill.
We raised a fawn when I was six. She was found abandoned (the people thought, probably mistakenly) and we were the only farmers around who had milk cows, so they brought Lightning to us. She was a darling little pet who grew up to completely reintegrate into the wild.
The most astounding story has to do with hunting season. My parents were quite worried about her, as by then she was spending much of her time in the bush. They needn't have been concerned, however; on the first day of hunting season she came back into our yard and didn't leave until the season was over. How did she know?
