Love Potion for Paper Players Challenge #130
26 January 2013
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. The very talented LeAnne is our Paper Players hostess with the mostest this week and she has a great sketch for us. It's a super versatile sketch, as is evident from the fabulous inspiration cards from the design team.
Here's the sketch:
Now, I decided to turn it on the vertical and, instead of a piece of DSP, I got out one of my new embossing folders and embossed the outer portion of the base cardstock. That gave me my patterned element on the left hand side.
Then, as LeAnne told us we could use ANY shape as the central element, I decided to go with a vertical banner.
Now... once my card was finished, I decided that I would add a horizontal layer in the form of a sentiment instead of the ribbon. However, if I had been in possession of some suitably colored baker's twine, I would have used that on both sides of the sentiment. But, as I only have Cherry Cobbler or Early Espresso, I knew I couldn't use either of those! I did change up the embossing folders though. I used the houndstooth embossing folder on a piece of Island Indigo card stock and placed that behind the sentiment.
I normally do a full SU card for my Paper Players cards, but not tonight. I get so little time to stamp these days, that I have made a resolution to make at least two cards every time I have a stamp set out. I had a PTI set called Love Potion that I used on this card and, as it was open on my craft table, I decided to make my challenge card from the same set.
Here's my card:
I really wanted to do something that was not the traditional red, back and white "love" card - as much as I LOVE that color scheme... I really wanted to push myself to come up with something different as my base color. Island Indigo was my choice! I think the card is perfect for Valentine's, anniversary - or just because. I really had fun stamping the single image multiple times. I then colored the "potion" bottles with copic markers and covered the entire image with sticky vellum paper to tone down the harshness of the black.
Now, it's over to you. We would really love you to play along with us this week. Before you play though, check out the inspiration from the design team.
As always, thank you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.
hugs
Jaydee

What a clever take on the sketch, Jaydee! Love those bottles and the way you've colored them. The touch of vellum is brilliant!
