Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
Well, during this latest storm where the weather cannot make up it's mind, I managed to spend a little time having fun in my craft room. Today it has sleeted, rained, snowed, rained and is about to snow again! We were planning to go shopping and run some errands, but decided it was probably best just to stay home and chill instead. Which was great for me, as that meant spending quality time with some paper, stamps and ink and playing along with a few challenges.
For tonight's card, I used the sketch from casethissketch, the colors from Playdate Cafe and the theme from Casualfridays
I really liked the sketch - very unusual and a lot of fun to play with. The color challenge is totally outside of my comfort zone, but I immediately fell in love with it and wondered why I had never thought to combine the colors. The theme challenge from Cas-ual fridays is GLITTER. Now, how could I NOT play with that!
I decided to go with a bold and graphic card, because the sketch and the color scheme both felt that they needed some bold. Of course, I had to pull out my silver glimmer specialty paper and combined it with some silver embossing powder. The colors felt masculine to me, but I wanted to use them in a way that the card could be gender neutral.
I know that clean and simple often makes some people believe that you spend less time creating a clean and simple card than something with a little more fuss, but believe me, that's not the truth. This card took a fair amount of time to a) compose and b) create. I used a chevron ikat stamp, which is an individual stamp, and I had to make sure that each time I stamped it I was pretty much in the center of the page - all the way from corner to corner. On top of that, I had to stop and clean my stamp between every stamped image. Considering I was going from Pool Party to Pumpkin Pie to Midnight Muse, that was a fair bit of cleaning :-)
Anyway, I think it was worth it. What do you think? :-)
I just couldn't get a great photo of it. Either I lost the shine on the embossed sentiment, or the sentiment!, or I lost the shine on the stars. I managed to get a shot that shows the bling and I hope that you can see how glittery and shiny it actually is. You can actually see the sentiment much better when you have the card in your hand.
I stayed true to the concept of clean and simple and I love this color scheme.
You really should pop along to all three challenge sites and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards. There's really lots and lots of great inspiration for you.
I'll be back again tomorrow with another challenge card. In the meantime, have a fabulous Monday and warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Special prayers for Beverlee.
Hugs
Jaydee

I love this...it's so cute!! I agree about clean and simple and how it takes a lot of time to design it while most people might assume it takes less time. Let me say that you did an amazing job with this card. It's fantastic!!

Gorgeous card! I love those colors from PDCC. They are some of my favorite. And your take on the sketch was perfect. Your added glitter and shine topped it off. Thanks for playing along this week at CAS-ual Fridays!

Very cool! I agree totally that clean and simple cards can take a very long time to create and get just right! When you finally arrive and are happy with the card, you just know it! You arrived at the right spot on this one! As always :)

Love your card! I think you combined three challenges very well.
Plus, I totally agree with you that CAS card doesn't mean it takes less to make. :)

CAS cards are HARD! You nailed it, and I love it. :o) The colors are so fun together (definitely not something I would have come up with on my own!) and I always enjoy those little extra touches you add. Fabulous!
I'm sorry your spring is still lurking just around the corner. It was a long winter here as well. Hang in there!
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! :o)

Your card is awesome. I do love the colors. Can't believe you are still having snow. We worked in our yard today trying to uncover all our plants from leaves and cutting the grass. Take care, Pammy
