Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
It's Sandy's first challenge for the Paper Players and she has chosen a fabulous summer color combo for us.
Now... when I have a color challenge, I always go looking for a little sketch inspiration. I found exactly what I needed at CASETHISSKETCH
I saw the sketch, thought about the color scheme, and knew exactly what I wanted to do! Before I show you my card though, I want to say a BIG thank you to the casethissketch team for choosing this card as one of their favorites this week! It was a huge surprise and a great way to kick off my crafting day!
Here's my card for this combined challenge:
I started by stamping the flower onto cardstock and then coloring it with my Copic markers. I stamped the stem onto Very Vanilla card stock and colored it with a Pear Pizzazz marker. The one stamp that I don't like in this set is the leaf stamp... it's just too big for most of the flowers. So, I hit on the brilliant idea of using my bird punch and punching out two leaves with Pear Pizzazz card stock, cutting them and adhering them to the stem.
I looked at it and the leaves needed something... they just looked blank! So, I took my PP marker and lightly drew in a line down the middle of each leaf and the stem. Yes, much better! I then stamped the sentiment onto the card base and mounted the focal layer. The flower was the last thing to go onto the card and was mounted using dimensionals. Because the flower was off the card, I cut the right hand side of the card to 4" instead of 4.25. Last thing I did was round the bottom right hand corner of the card base.
I think it's bright, cheerful, summery card and perfect to put in the Operation Write Home card drive that I'm organizing. If you are new here, you can read all about the card drive and how you can join my fabulous blogging friends and create cards for this very worthwhile cause.
Don't forget to check out the fabulous cards from the PP design team. You can check out their individual blogs and don't forget to play along with us. We'd love to see what you create with this color scheme!
Don't forget to pop along to casethissketch, too. Some fabulous inspiration and submission cards for your inspiration!
As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your comments are always much appreciated. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
