Eat, Drink and Be Scary - Paper Players #166 - 3D with Jaydee
05 October 2013
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
The fabulous Nance has a great theme challenge for us this week.
Now.... I realized that I don't have any Halloween Stamps! How could that happen? I was a little flummoxed for a couple of minutes until I remembered MDS to the rescue!
However, I couldn't just do a card :-) I thought I'd like to try to make some adult treat bags, place name card and a napkin ring!
Let's start with the card. I opened up MDS and chose the Eat, Drink and Be Scary digital stamp. I sized the spider and printed it onto Whisper White card stock on my Epson printer. I dug around in my old DSP stash and found some retired Wicked Fun Specialty Paper. This is gorgeous paper, but I rarely find a reason to use it. It has a sheet of cobweb paper. Perfect for my spider.
To add a little more interest to the spider, I gave her some googly eyes and colored the body with a sparkly gel roller. I also did the same over the sentiment. I decided that the DSP needed the same treatment, so went over each hatch of the spider web with my gel roller. Here's the card
Aren't those googly eyes so much fun? I love her sparkly body, too!
Then, I went on to make the place name card and knew immediately that I needed to bling it up. I pulled out my Bitty Bat punch and punched two bats out of silver glimmer paper. I then took a sharpie to them and colored them both black. I love these blingy bats :-) I cut a piece of black card stock, scored it down the middle and created my place name tag. For the napkin ring, I cut a piece of card stock and ran it through my Big Shot with the Cobweb embossing folder.
For the treat bag, I took a bag from a retired Ghoulish Googlies pack and ran it through my Big Shot and the cobweb embossing folder. It, too, needed a little bling to make it more adult... so I went over the embossed areas of the bag with my gel roller and added some gorgeous black satin ribbon. I also needed the cobweb to stand out, so I cut a piece of black card stock to put into the bag.
Here's my little collection of goodies:
Then, I quickly set a place to show you how they would look.
Don't you love those sparkly bats? I do! I thought it would be great to punch out several, color them with a sharpie and stick them onto candles to complete the Halloween table setting.
We do hope that you will play along with us this week. The design team rocked this challenge and have some great inspiration for you. Check out their blogs:
On a personal note:
It is cold, dreary and grey. Oh... it reminds me of England in summer :-) It was a great day to do a quick bit of shopping in the morning, stop into Starbucks for bagel and a coffee and then home to make some Halloween goodies. Although, I was tempted to curl up in front of the fire with some hot cocoa and a good book. It really was that sort of day.
It's also the time of year where we need to bring in our furniture, take down the top of our gazebo and start to prepare to hunker down for the coming cold month's of late fall and winter. I still can't say that I'm ready for it.... but the birds have all flown south, the leaves are falling from the trees, the nights and days are much colder.... I think Mother Nature is trying to tell me that winter is coming whether I'm ready or not!
I've decided to move my craft room. When we built the house I couldn't make up my mind whether to move into one of the bedroom's upstairs, or the bedroom in the basement. I chose the one in the basement, but decided I really should have chosen the one upstairs! The basement bedroom is bigger and will make a fabulous guest room. So, I have to start to pack up all of my goodies and get ready to move!
This prompted me to decide to drastically downsize my stash of goodies. When I was making the cards for the latest OWH card drive, I forced myself to work with just a few sets and see how many different cards I could make with them. I realized that I was considerably more productive with fewer things.
So, over the next week, I will be photographing my goodies and will be putting them up for sale. I've got everything from brand new trimmers to Copic storage to nestabilities and other dies. I'll put up a list and maybe you might find something that you would like to love and give a good home:-) The money from the sale of my goodies will be used to buy more supplies for cards for OWH.
Talking of OWH..... I wanted to let the OWH draw winners know that the SU order has shipped and will be with me at the end of next week. As soon as the box arrives, I will package up your winning orders and despatch them off to you.
As always, thank you for your visits and your comments. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
