Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday.
I have a very quick post for you tonight.
I never use Lovely as a Tree. I always seem to forget about it. But... over the weekend, I had this idea that was forming in my little brain and I knew I needed to try to get it onto paper.
I wanted to create a snow scene in monochromatic colors of greys and white. Smoky Slate was the perfect way for me to do that, on condition that I did a "second generation" stamping. On it's own it's just too dark and wouldn't provide me with enough contrast.
I got a piece of Shimmer White card stock and stamped two of the pine trees in Smoky Slate and then one in Basic Grey. It was exactly the contrast I wanted. I mounted the focal image onto a layer of Smoky Slate card stock using Stampin' Dimensionals and placed it onto more Shimmer White card stock.
All that was left to do was to create the snow bank. I did this by tracing a shape onto Whisper White card stock and then used my versamark and Heat and Stick to create a really sticky surface. I liberally applied glitter to it and left it to dry.
Once the glitter was dry, I inked up my sentiment in StazOn and stamped it over the glitter layer. I glued it to my card front and added a vintage button and some silver thread.
Overall, it pretty much captures what was in my head and, once I was finished, I couldn't understand why I had neglected LAAT!
Here's my card:
You can see that I stamped the trees to look as though they were going downhill to match the cutout snowbank. Stamping the trees in the paler grey makes them recede and it seems as though the darker grey tree is in the foreground. The sentiment is stamped onto a little banner that was cut from the left over glittered piece. I'm sorry the light wasn't brighter to get you a better shot. But it really is a pretty card in the hand.
As always, thank you for your visits and for your comments. They really are much appreciated. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Linda Mc - extra special hugs and prayers for you.
I'll be back on Friday with a card that isn't - surprisingly - grey and white :-)
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee,
I've been lying low due to my ick. I'm happy to be up and looking at my favorite blogs once more. :o)
I've often thought of using this stamp for Christmas cards, but have not done so. Now, with this beauty for inspiration, I just might. It's so gorgeous, and yet so simple. I love it!
Hoping all is well with you and Lou and the furbabies!
Hugs!

Jaydee, this is stunning! So soft and serene like the fresh fallen snow. I love the way you placed your trees and the snow bank. I imagine you get to see this out your window. What a truly timeless stamp set to have, no wonder it's been around so long!

Stunning; Absolutely Stunning card.
Just when I thought I was done with my Christmas card making, of which I finished by the end of Feb., I see something as gorgeous as this and want to make one myself. Guess I can always put it in my stash for next year.
Yes my dear friends, during the winter months when I can't work outside, I get my Christmas cards made up for the following year.
Have a fun and enjoyable day.

What a beautiful card. I've pretty much given up making Christmas cards because it's just too crazy busy at this time of year and I wanted to take pressure off myself. But this card just might make me change my mind! Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
