Just Sayin' meets For the Birds for Paper Players #180

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and she has an awesome sketch - with a little twist.

I must admit, I had a lot of fun paying with the sketch:

I loved the idea of the tag with the hidden message!

I knew that I wanted to use a sentiment from Just Sayin' and pair it with a sentiment from For the Birds.  The only thing I wasn't sure of..... what color to use.   Mmmmm..... I decided to go through my DSP and came across this stunning piece of Crushed Curry.  It reminded me why I love Crushed Curry so much more than Daffodil Delight!

I paired the Crushed Curry with Very Vanilla and decided that I needed some texture behind the focal image and tag.  The Arrows embossing folder to the rescue :-)

Here's the outside of the card:

In case you are wondering.   I did, indeed, stamp, color and fussy cut the bird.  It was a bit of a bother, but TOTALLY worth it.  I think the little bird, with the heart, on the sentiment helps to add just a little pop of color, and ties nicely to the pull out tag. :-)

Then, of course, I had to do the inside of the card.   This time I pulled out a Words - Birthday stamp set and die from PTI.  I diecut the birthday with the same DSP as I used on the outside and finished it off with a couple of gold sequins.

All in all, I was pretty pleased with the amount of movement the arrows on the DSP and on the embossed layer created.  I love the interactive nature of the tag on the front and the pop of blue from the birds.

Now, you really have to check out the fantastic cards the design team have created for your inspiration.

We hope that you will play along with us this week.

On a personal note:

The weather continues to be cold, but the sun is shining.   We noticed that we have a couple of Doves that have taken up residence on our front porch, along with a couple of sparrows that spend the day roosting in the wreaths on the front door.   I can't say I blame them.  It is very sheltered there and the sun makes it a sun trap even on cold days.  They really are pretty smart!

I did manage to spend a little much needed time in my craft room today.   It has been an intense week, as threats of major layoffs have surfaced again.  This time they are going to be even deeper than they have the last couple of years and the changes of my team being affected are very high.  Consequently, it's stressful again at work whilst we wait to see how many chairs are left in the room and how many of us find a seat!

Spending time in my craft room forces me to switch off and focus on other things.  It really is fantastic therapy.  I mean... you have to concentrate when you are fussy cutting that bird, right?  Otherwise, I'm going to be short a few pieces of finger :-)  It felt good to be able to make something and switch off.  I hope to get a little time in there tomorrow, too :-)

As always, thank you so much for your visit and your comments.  They really are much appreciated.   I'll be back with another card tomorrow.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
