Peaceful Petals for Fusion
26 January 2014
Hi Everyone.
Today was cold, snowy and windy. In effect, the perfect day to spend a little time in a cozy room doing a little crafting. :-)
I saw this challenge across at Fusion
I fell in love with the bunch of flowers and decided that I would use just the inspiration photo for my card.
I immediately knew that the card needed Peaceful Petals, but I decided to do something I don't generally do - stamp on a dark base. I used white embossing powder on a Basic Black base and then used copic markers to color the inside of the daffodils and used a different yellow to color the solid petals. I paired it with some Crushed Curry and a sentiment from PTI and here's my card:
All I needed to finish the card were some black pearls for the center of a couple of the daffodils and a larger one to anchor the sentiment.
Don't forget to pop along and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards. Lots of great inspiration!
On a personal note:
In addition to getting a little time in my crafting space today, Lou and I took a break this afternoon and braved the blowing snow and frigid temperatures to go into town to watch a local production of Cabaret. It was fabulously well done and well worth braving the elements for!
I know I've said this before, but when I go outside the wind whacks me in the face with a cold blanket of arctic air, I am always amazed at how the little birds manage to survive these temperatures and conditions. Lou is keeping the bird feeders full of food and we still have our water on the deck railing to provide water and a place for the birds to bathe.
Rach, I can't believe that you still have snow on the ground. That's amazing considering your geographic location!
My thanks to Marge, Chris, Ruth and Nancy. Your prayers and thoughts are much appreciated. It's certainly going to be a tough few weeks whilst they sort out who goes and who stays. I wish I was at the age where I could retire. I really need to work out what I want to do when I "grow up"!
I will be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, stay warm and big hugs for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

You guys are brave! I'm hunkering down and only going outside for brief (2 minute) trips with my doggie for him to do his business. We are bundled up! However, my mojo went a.w.o.l. so just reading blogs. Love your card! While I love snow and how pretty it looks outside, I'm getting tired of the cold. Whine, whine, sorry. Hugs back to you!

Black and yellow is such a striking color combination and I love how you used the inspiration photo. I don't know that I would have thought to use the Copics over the white embossing. Another brilliant idea to file away for future use. :o)
I'm praying for you and for all who are going through this stressful time with your job. That's so hard.
Hugs.
P.S. Hi Lou! :o)
