Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
Firstly, Happy New Year to all of you. I hope it is a wonderful, happy, healthy and prosperous year for you all.
Whilst I was in my craft room this weekend, I got chance to play along with the Retrosketches challenge. It's such an unusual sketch that I knew it would stretch my creative juices. It also gave me the chance to play around with some new goodies.
I pulled out the Peaceful Petals stamp set and combine it with some of the new Gold Foil card stock and new Washi Tape.
Here's the challenge:
And here's my take on it:
The gold foil card stock is a pretty color of gold, but in order to get a decent photograph of it, I had to tilt the card towards the light and it shows the detail on the flower, but makes the card stock look brighter than it is. In hand, it really is pretty and works so well with the washi tape.
As the surface is pretty slick, I stamped the flower using StazOn and then fussy cut around it. I mounted the mashi tape onto a piece of Very Vanilla and then mounted that panel onto Naturals Ivory. I took a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the sentiment from Peaceful Petals onto it and glued that to the base. All that was left to do was to pop the flower up on Stampin' Dimensionals. It was fun arranging the washi tape to try to get a representation of the sketch as it allowed me to us it differently. That's the great thing about sketches... they force you out of your comfort zone and introduce you to new things. :-)
On a personal note:
Lou and I spent a great New Year's Eve with good friends, good food and great conversation. It was truly a wonderful way to kick off the year.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
Such a beautiful card. I am not a fan of wash tape but this makes me want to get the gold. Happy New Year to you and Lou. Thank you for all your inspiration and insights into the stamping world. I have learned so much from you these past years. Thank you!

Happy New Year Jaydee and Lou!! Wishing you both the best of 2014.
What a gorgeous card and creative take on the sketch! I love how you used the washi tape and this bold gold flower really pops. Jaydee, you're a master and true artist! I'm inspired each time I stop by and just want to say thank you.
We woke up to snow this morning! We're only supposed to get 2-4 inches today which isn't a lot in your neck of the woods, but it's enough for the kids to go sledding and come in for hot chocolate. I'm excited for the day and it's beauty. It's still dark this morning but the dogs have already dipped their noses in the snow and romped in it!

Happy New Year Jaydee!! Love your new toys ... such a beautiful card! Am loving the gold and silver foils from SU! and used a bit on my Christmas cards. So pretty! But now, after seeing your gorgeous card, I think I have to add the washi tape to my next order :) Loll xx
