Love for Addicted to CAS
01 February 2014
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday!
I actually scheduled this to post at 2am - except I chose 2pm instead! So, I apologize for being late!
It's my first time hosting at Addicted to CAS this week and my code word is:
Well, it's certainly a great code word for this time of year. However, I wanted to create a card that celebrates love at any time of the year. In the words of the immortal John Lennon; "all you need is love. love. Love is all you need!" Now, we might need food and water, but love certainly does make our lives complete.
For this card I used some SU Raspberry Ripple as my card base and mixed it with some DSP that came with the SSS February card kit. I stamped the flower three times with Raspberry Ripple ink and then added some clear embossing powder to give it a little shimmer and shine. I colored the middle of the flowers with a gold pen to finish them off.
I stamped the leaves, stems and petals in Gumball Green and Lucky Limeade to add a little interest. The sentiment was stamped in Midnight Muse. I really like the blue with the pink, I think it's softer than black and I love the Raspberry Ripple with Very Vanilla.
I popped the tag on some double sided tape to lift it off the card base and finished the whole card off with a little bit of Raspberry Ripple ribbon.
Here's my card:
The design team rocked it out of the park again this week, so why not pop along to Addicted to CAS to check out their designs, and don't forget to play along with us!
Our sponsor for the winning entry this week is offering up 5 digital images as a prize!
On a personal note:
More snow. More cold weather. I can't remember a winter with this much snow and this continued cold since I arrived in Minnesota! I know we live 2 hours further north than we used to, but it still seems unusual. Mind you, not as unusual as my dear readers are experiencing down south!
Talking about warmth.... I was shopping on smile.amazon.com this week and saw something that caught my eye because it was so unusual. It's called a WONDERBAG.
I knew that I wouldn't use one personally, so I did a little research on the web and found the homepage for Wonderbag. As many of my readers know, I spent 2 decades living in Africa and have seen first hand how difficult it is to find enough fuel to cook. This bag is ingenious. It's not only healthier for the people living in the homes, it's also healthier for the environment. It's also a darn good idea!
As I knew I wouldn't use one, I donated money to have bags distributed to families in Africa instead. If you are interested, you can out the information here. Or, you can buy one for yourself and get an automatic donation of one bag to a family in Africa. What a super cool idea and think of the difference just $15 can make.
Oh! Talking of donations. I found a site this week that was offering an awesome night on the town with George Clooney for a $10 donation. Sadly, I didn't win the awesome date with the awesome George, but there are more amazing experiences that you can bid on for $10. There's something pretty much for everyone. A $10 donation from lots of people can make a tremendous difference to some amazing, and lesser known, charities. The bidding on the date with George must have been frantic as it raised $1.2M dollars! Rach, you should be sad that I didn't win the date... cos I was going to ask you if you wanted to be my +1 if I did win! You can check out the site, and see the experiences that are currently on offer at OMAZE.
On that note, I am off to make some more cards! I'll be back tomorrow morning with my Paper Players card. In the meantime, stay warm, stay safe and warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
Card recipe:
- Card stock: Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla (SU)
- Inks: Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Lucky Limeade, Midnight Muse (SU)
- Stamp: Simon Says Stamp - Thinking of You
- Accessories: Raspberry Ripple Ribbon (SU)
Well drats! I'm all broken hearted now. Goodness knows I'm sad you didn't win that date, because...GEORGE! Oh, that's some mighty fine-looking manhood there... Alas, there's no date to be had. I'll just live with my Googled images...;o)
Raspberry Ripple has really grown on me, and you know how I adore polka dots. What a sweet card!
I'm off to check into those Wonderbags (and why have I not known about smile.amazon.com--it sounds right up my alley!). Thanks for providing the links!
hugs!

Nice card, Jaydee.
This is the coldest winter and most snow (this early)I've seen and I have spent most of my life here in Upper Michigan. I think it's the year and not that you are 2 hours further north than last years.
How is your job situation? I hope all is going well and will continue to go well.
Take care,
Tracy
