Little Additions for Addicted to CAS Challenge #33

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday!

It's the fabulously talented Harriet's turn to host our challenge at Addicted to CAS this week and she has this as our code word:

I thought about doing a love card and using the "baby" a little differently, but in the end went more traditional and, instead of making one baby card, I made two!  One blue and one pink!

I don't have a lot of baby stamps, but luckily have Little Additions in My Digital Studio.  So, I opened up MDS and went to work to capture the image of the blocks. I then colored each block separately and printed them out.   I went back in and added the sentiment and printed that separately, being careful to trim it as centered when I put the card stock in my cutter.

I took the sentiment layer and ran it through my Big Shot with a Lil Inkers stiched die.  I really love these dies - they add a little detail around the edge which helps to frame the card and add a little interest.

I fussy cut around each of the blocks and mounted them onto the card base using double sided tape.  I used a metal ruler and my craft pad to ensure that I had the blocks lined up straight on the card - and in the middle!  I find that the more CAS my cards, the more essential it becomes to ensure that things are lined up - oh! and that my work surface is completely clean so that you don't get stray ink in the middle of all that wonderful white space.   Don't ask me how many times I have finished a project, turned it over to press down an element, only to find that I now have wonderful ink smears in the middle of the white space!

Anyway, here's my card for the challenge:

Little Additions

I love the blues together and the fact that the blocks are individual and each is raised from the card base.  This is a card that would easily go through the post.

Then, I had to create a sentiment for the inside.   I've used this sentiment on baby cards before and just love it.

We hope that you will join us this week.  Our winner will digi stamps from our fabulous sponsor:

We also have a new guest designer joining us for March.  Karen is a very talented antipodean stamper.  You can check out Karen's blog here.

As usual, the fabulous design team have out-done themselves and there are so many wonderful inspirations for you.  Please stop by their blogs and leave them a little love

On a personal note:

Well, I had an unexpected trip to Vegas for business last weekend.  It's been so long since I have had to go out of my home office on business, that Lou and I had to rush around last Saturday to buy me a couple of things to wear in an "office" environment.  Oh!  and it meant that I had to get up every morning and put on makeup and do my hair!  Generally all I do in the morning is wash my face, brush my teeth and put on moisturizer.  I then run a brush quickly through my hair and throw it on top of my head with a clip!  Not so this week. :-)

The anticipated resource actions happened yesterday and today.  I managed to avoid being on "the list" again.  Thanks to all of you who were sending good wishes and prayers my way.  They seem to have worked :-)  However, thousands of my colleagues - some of them friends and workmates - were not so lucky.  Please keep them in your prayers tonight.  They are certainly on mine.  One of my friends who was part of the last action in July 2013 is still without a job.  It's always tough when good people find themselves in a situation over which they have no control and leaving any job when it is not on your own terms, is particularly tough.

In Vegas the temps were in the 70s and I got home on Wednesday night to find that the temps were back in the -20s!  I really felt it when I got back.  :-)  Our local weather station reported that we were having the deepest freeze many had seen, which is causing water pipes to burst in lots of areas around the cities.  One municipal worker said that this is the deepest freeze he has ever seen.  In areas it is up to 8' deep.  That is really deep for us.   I hope our little groundhog is nice and warm and safe in her hibernation!

I am SO ready for Spring.  REALLY ready for Spring!   :-)

As always, thank you to all of you for your visits - and your comments.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

What a cute card Jaydee and such a cute, sweet sentiment besides.
So happy to hear that you are still among the working force and saddened by those that where cut.

I don't know who wrote the following poem but thought it was rather cute.

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the inks look so delightful
So while the winter is cold and damp
Let us stamp! Let us stamp! Let us stamp!

It doesn't take much convincing
And I've brought a tool for crimping
Choose some paper, turn up the lamp
Let us stamp! Let us stamp! Let us stamp!

When we carefully press just right
How we smile as the image unfolds
Add some color, so bold, so bright
The result is a sight to behold!

Our projects are quickly drying
And there's new techniques for trying
So until we get finger cramps
Let us stamp! Let us stamp! Let us stamp!

Enjoy your weekend

Jaydee this is absolutely CAS perfection! I am glad to hear that you are still employed but am sad for your co-workers that aren't.

Sweet card Jaydee. Love the three shades of blue for the blocks. And you are right, the stitched panel really adds a lot of fun and interest to the design (they are on my wishlist!!). Loll xx

Gorgeous card Jaydee and I love the verse on the inside as well - very cute:) Thanks for having me along as a guest this month - it's fun to join you guys - hugs xx

Rach

What a delightful little card, Jaydee. You are the queen of those subtle little touches that make a card "pop". I love it!

Oh dear. While I'm relieved to hear you weren't on the list, I'm so very sorry for so many of your coworkers and friends. I'll definitely add them to my prayer list.

I'm delighted you got to experience warm temps for awhile, and shopping? What's not to love about that? :oP

Spring *has* to come, right? RIGHT?!??

Hugs!

P.S. Hi Lou!

Kylie

Wow, those temps are insane!! I'm not sure I would cope, lol. I bet it makes for some amazing photos though. Your card is divine! I really, really LOVE it xx

Deepti

Shades of blue on those blocks is simply perfection :)

Marina

Dear Jaydee:

Usually we want to be in "the lists", BUT, not in this one!! So glad to hear you were not on it. At the same time my prayers will be for those who lost their jobs . . . let's be positive and may they find something else.

Your card so CAS and as always so beautiful!!

A warm hug for you and your followers.

Marina . . . from far Africa.

Sandie

Wow that is cold!! Adorable cards, the first one I just love the design x

Hi Jaydee! Oh your card is cas perfection! The blues are just dreamy together and the stitched die is a lovely touch. I love your sentiment inside. I don't recall seeing that before.

Ha ha ha, Colleen made me smile this morning with her cute little poem. How clever!!

I'm so sorry for your coworkers who have lost their jobs. I will keep them in my prayers. When one door closes, another one opens. Hoping they open quickly for each of them.

Sally Davis

Glad to hear of your good news with the work situation. But sad for those left behind. My thoughts will be with them and you as you all adjust to the news. The promise of spring is yet to be realized in my area also. However, there have been sightings of robins and red winged blackbirds so hopefully they know more than me! I have to say I was glad to turn the calendar page over yesterday. Somehow that makes it seem closer. Hang in there!

Marge Penley

Hope Lou was home to take care of the cats while Mom was away earning a living for their food.

So sad to hear of jobs lost. There is such greed in this country that judgments are being made that will affect more than the rats who decide. I must not get started on this as it could become a novel.
