Hi Everyone.
I'm late posting my Paper Players card today, cos I wanted to make a change to my card and also photograph it outside, so had to wait for decent light!
It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our challenge this week and she has a tic-tac-toe for us!
Well, I decided to go the masculine route and go diagonally from top left to bottom right. However, I needed a sketch, so popped along to Freshly Made and found this great sketch:
I needed some mascline, blue, DSP and rummaged through some very OLD DSP that I have stashed away. I don't keep much DSP as I tend to do a clean out regularly, but I had stashed this one away because it has some great masculine patterns.
I made two versions of the card because once I had finished the original, I thought it needed a little something. So, I need your help to determine whether the first version - or the second version - work better.
Here's the original version:
Don't you love that pinstripe DSP? I do! It has such a masculine feel to it. I found a sheet of the squares in the same DSP pack and liked that it added a geometric element, so I used that for the horizontal layer from the sketch.
Then, I discovered that I had ordered some of the vanilla coaster board from SU. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE this stuff. In fact, I ordered 3 more sets of it this past week. It works really well with framelits, as you can see from the Pennant framelit die cut that I used. I like the fact that it is much thicker than cardstock, so really holds its own on a card, and the fact that it's not too thick to go through the post. Oh! and if that isn't enough? You can also color it with a blending sponge and ink! So, if you haven't tried it - check it out. You can find the details HERE.
Here's my second version of the card. The only difference is the addition of a few candy dots:
I'd really love your opinion as to whether I should send out the version with the dots - or the one without out. So, please leave a comment for me :-)
Don't forget to check out the fabulous cards from the design team - once again they really rocked the challenge. Then, come back and join us - we would love to see what you do with our challenge this week.
Oh... one of the other things I did today, too, was take an outdoor photograph of my addicted to CAS card. The results from photos taken outside are so much better and the colors much more real. You can check out the updated photo on this post.
On a personal note:
Well, today is the final day before going back to work tomorrow. It really has been a fabulous 10 days off work. We got so much accomplished, did some really fun things, and just enjoyed being together. Oh, and I got time to spend in my crafting room. I thought I would share another shot of the color with you :-)
One of the things I love about my craft room is that it looks over the wetland and woodland and there is always something to watch. Although, it can be very distracting! :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

Love it with the dots, Jaydee! This is a perfect masculine card. I have the coaster board, but never thought to use it on a card before. Thanks for the tip!

Oooooh, I like the one with the dots! They add just enough interest and dimension to make it FUN! Great colors and thanks for the tip on the coaster board--I had no idea!!

What a great masculine card, Jaydee! I definately like the one with the dots better, also. What a beautiful, tidy craft area you have! And I see you have a little stampin' buddy perched on his tower! Love it!

I love both of your cards, but the second has a bit more umph. But both would be good. I ought to do a clean out of my DSP. I tend to hoard it! Have a great night--and I LOVE that your office overlooks the wildlife.

Dots, definitely.

Wasn't yesterday beautiful? Snow almost gone in places. The huge piles in shopping centers will take a while to melt, though. Oh, to answer your question, I like the one with the candy dots. Smiles and hugs to you, Jaydee.

I like the addition of the candy dots but the first card is very nice also. I wish we still had that paper. And I agree with everyone else about the craft room. Wonderful place to be creative. Love the color and the view! I would be very distracted if I was to work in there! Glad you got some time off work. Now, back to the grind.

My choice is the second card with the candy dots. Love those things. Your craft room is to die for. Love the color. Back to the grind today for you. Another retired day for me. Ummm! What shall I do today! Stamp for sure.

Lovely CAS masculine card. Love that pinstripe paper.
Think I'm going to be the odd ball out here but I like it clean and simple without the dots. Maybe if there where just 3 dots coming down from the upper left side might be ok, other wise the first card is my pick.
Well, worked outside yesterday for 7 hours and needless to say I got alittle pink; my face, neck and ears let alone being out of shape cause I am so stiff and sore this morning. Oh, the joys of getting old; finding out I can't do as much as I used to do 10 years ago. Will be abck at it at sunrise.
Have a fun and enjoyable day

Jaydee, I can't help but think of my favorite pair of jeans when I saw you card. Love the clean design and the pop of color. Glad you enjoyed your time off from work, my friend. I LOVE the color in your craft room....so soothing. The kitty tower is the best part though, in my opinion. :)
