Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and it's a clean and simple theme challenge.
As I have been attending the online card classes clean and simple class this week, I decided I would try one of the techniques that Jennifer McGuire used and that was to create an image surrounding a negative space using the masking technique. I also decided that I would be true to the name of the class and create a one layer card.
Now, one layer cards are fabulous to put into the post, as they cost no extra for postage and they are less likely to arrive damaged :-)
I pulled out my Stampin' Up! Apothecary labels and due cut one of the labels using Eclipse masking sheets. I placed the mask onto the middle of my front layer and went to town with my Petite Petals using Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush inks. Once I had the flowers on the card, I then used two different types of leaves from two PTI sets. Then, I took two small dot stamps and placed Smokey Slate and Crushed Curry dots to add just a little more interest and color.
All that was left to do was to remove the mask, ink up the sentiment and stamp the sentiment in the negative space that was left. I decided it need just a little "sparkle" and went over the leaves, dots and flowers with my gel roller. I couldn't get a shot of the whole card with the sparkle, but you can see from the close up that it's there..... it really does little pretty in real life. You can also see that the Eclipse masking sheet gives a very clean edge to the masked off area.
Here's my finished card
Mmm... looking at the masked area it doesn't look straight, but I promise you it is, it's the angle of the photo. I was really pleased with the way that it came out and even though I was really tempted to add some pearls and rhinestones, I held off and left it alone and I'm glad that I did. :-)
The design team have, as always, outdone themselves again this week. Don't forget to pop along to their blogs and check out what they have as inspiration for you. Then, come and play along with us this week.
As always, thank you for your visit and for your comments. They really are always much appreciated. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
