Secret Garden meets Sweet Sorbet
26 March 2014
Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
3/27 - updated to correct DSP... Thanks, Cherie!
Well, I managed to spend some quality time in my newly painted craft room today and I was really on a roll!
I decided it was high time to make use of my Sweet Sorbet Watercolor Wonder- it really is one of the best DSPs to ever come out of SU! I paired it with the Secret Garden stamp set and a new PTI sentiment set called Wet Paint. Oh.... and I finished it off with some of that wonderful Ribbon that I got as a birthday present from my dearest friend, Pammie. Here's my card:
You can see that I also used the Secret Garden stamp set to decorate the flap of the envelope and I used Daffodil Delight and Crisp Cantaloupe to echo the colors on the card itself. I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Slate and used a gel roller pen to add a little bit of shimmer and shine. I know it's hard to see the shine, but it's really pretty when you see it.
The leaf behind the tag was created by stamping the leaf from Secret Garden and then using the matching framelit. Before I assembled the card, I decided to use my blending tool and some Crushed Curry ink on the edges of the card base as I wanted just a little more depth of color - and to make the base just a tad warmer. The inks blend really well and I like the effect.
On a personal note:
Terri - this is just for you! You asked to see the new color of my craft room and I took a photo for you. However, I had to include my constant companion on HIS cat climber. Everytime I am down in my craft room, Charlie is either sleeping at the top, or playing "catch me if you can" on all of the levels. As I type this blog post, he decided to do something totally different, and is sitting on my desk with his paws curled under him catching a little cat nap. :-) Lou and I were talking about him this morning and were saying that we were so grateful that the cat shelter was full when we picked him up...... keeping him was absolutely the right thing to do. :-)
So... here's the photo of the newly painted wall. The whole house has been painted this color, with a much darker slatey-blue as an accent on some of the walls. Immediately we moved into the house, we knew that we wanted to change the color.... well, we.... meaning me!
I absolutely love it.... so you can count me very happy with the color :-) It's very similar to the SU Smokey Slate color :-)
Whilst I was photographing the last of the cards tonight, I looked out of the great room window and saw a few of the deer coming in to see if any bird seed had dropped.
I still can't believe that it is almost the end of March and we still have tons of snow on the ground. It has started to melt a little in the woodland, but it's going to be quite a while before it is all gone. Hopefully the temps will raise this weekend so that we can hurry this melting along!
Well, I will be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
